GREAT NEWS! A 4300 slept in my garage last night! And it gets better!!!!

I went yesterday after work with cash in pocket to look at the Deere. Pulling up the drive way, I noticed that the tractor did not have AG tires but instead had R4s. The tractor is indeed as described with little to no wear. It has 555 hrs and runs / drives flawlessly. I ended up paying $8500 for the tractor and the guy followed me home with it on his flatbed.

The tractor has had a loader on it at one time so it has the joystick, hydraulics, grille guard, and the attachement tubing on the side of the tractor.

I rode it around his place for about 30 minutes and looked, listened very well for something not right. It did not smoke, leak, or get hot. Everything on the tractor seems to work well. I did investigate the battery box and it seems to never have had any acid spills.

I am very, very please with my purchase and I am finding it very hard to be at work knowing it is in the garage.....

I will post more about it after this weekend when I get to play!!!!

Thanks for all the advice. I am still unsure which machine to purchase. I hope to go and drive the CK30 this week and then make a decision.

Right now I am not going to get a loader, but will probably purchase one later on.....

I will also consider the MMM instead of the 3 pt. mower. I just figured that with the layout of my property, the 3 pt would be more handy....

I am ready to buy a CUT and need some input into my decision. I have narrowed it down to two models, but not having very much experience with tractors, especially new CU tractors, I thought I would turn to the industry experts: The end users……<br>

I have a log home on 5 acres. It is all rolling pasture type surrounded by woods. All of this acreage (minus house) must be mowed. I also have about 700' of gravel driveway to maintain. I was taking care of this with a 1973 Ford 4000 tractor, 6' bush hog, and small Murray mower/tractor. The Ford was just way too big for the task at hand and I wanted to upgrade, so I sold my tractor and bush hog yesterday. I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket….<br>

With the help of this site, I have narrowed my search down to either a Kubota 7800, 4WD, HST or a Kioti CK30, 4x4, HST or GST. I will purchase a 3 pt. 72" finish mower and a 60" rotary cutter (aka bushhog) with one of these tractors. I want to use the finish mower for most of the land but want to have the bushhog in case I get behind mowing and the grass gets too long for the finish rig.<br>

With all of this said, which of these tractor should I buy. My budget is $15K and I have quotes to where I can get either tractor and both mowers for under this amount (within $200 of each other). I have ridden the 7800 and it seems to be a fine tractor. I plan to go and ride the Kioti this week, but from all I have read here, I don't think I will be disappointed in the Kioti.<br>

I know that for the money I get more creature comforts (cruise control, telescoping 3 pt links, cup holder, and around 2 more PTO hp) with the Kioti. It is also heavier than the Kubota but the wheel base and width of the tractors are about the same. Here is the deal, the Kubota dealer is here in the town I work in so any warranty/service work that I can not do at home is very convenient to get done. The Kioti dealer is 2 hrs away. Should this influence my decision????<br>

I am in the market for a RFM. After reading several post here, I see a lot of people like the Woods rear discharge units. I went and priced one today at lunch and was quoted $2000 + tax for the Woods RD7200 unit. I had previously been looking at a Landpride FDR1672 which was priced to me at $1250 + tax.<br>

I have no experience with rear finish mowers and need some advice from experienced users….<br>

1. Opinions on these prices<br>
2. Opinions on these two mowers<br>
3. Others that I should look at<br>

I have just purchased a new home that has about 5 acres of mowing. The previous owner kept a small area around the house mowed with a push mower and then bushhoged the remaining once every month or so…… It looks pretty good this way, but I would like to keep it mowed a little nicer. The previous owner did this work with an older Ford 2wd tractor and 6’ bushhog. The house also has 600’ of gravel driveway that will require maintenance and some snow removal. With this in mind, I am leaning toward buying a compact tractor and implements instead of a dedicated mower.<br>

I have been looking at tractors in the 30 hp range. I have looked at the JD’s, New Holland, and Kubota tractors. From my limited experience with tractors, I came away from my looking thinking that the Kubota was the best value for my money. <br>

What I am thinking about buying is:<br>

Kubota B7800, 4WD, R4 tires<br>
Woods 72” RFM with rear discharge<br>
Landpride 72” bushhog<br>
Landpride 72” Rear Blade<br>

I really like the “extras” found on the more optioned B2910, but is it worth the extra money? Also, if I would pay the extra for the B2910, should I just step up to the L3130 with these extras, more weight and larger wheelbase for stability? Are there any resale issues between the smaller B series and the L series?<br>

The property is mostly flat with some dips and hills in front along the driveway.<br>

Like I said, I know very little about tractors and wanted some opinions on what I was thinking about buying to handle the maintenance around the house.<br>

Wow Bruce... Sounds like you have a really nice spread there! 75 Acres! That would be awesome. I think you have a good plan there and that it is working well. I rented skid steers on several occasions while building the house I currently live in and I agree that they are great when building. I think if I had the size of property that you have, I might consider doing the same thing, but I can't imagine what I would do with the SS after I got the house done.

I also agree that a person (especially men and tools) can get caught up in the bigger is better mentality when contemplating a purchase (grunting now like TIM ALLEN). I have put myself in check a couple of times while looking at tractors. I found a good deal on a hold over 2001 JD4600 but I KNOW that will just be too big for my needs after the house is done. That is why I have just about decided on the Mid Size Frame L3130 or JD4210/4310. It will be big enough to handle some heavy tasks but still nimble enough to manuver through the trees bush hogging.....

Todd,
I don't know alot about tractors (just getting started), but I do know Mopar Trucks. If that 440 is half way tuned up and is setting in a 3/4 ton truck, with the 4.10's you will have no problem towing anything you want if you can feed it gas fast enough.....

My first post! I have been reading on the site for a while, but needed to ask a question so I joined. Great Site!

I am looking to buy my first compact tractor.... I have looked at blue, orange and green. I am have decided that I want a green tractor but I can not make up my mind between the 4310 4x4 and the 4410 4x4. Is the extra 2 PTO HP worth the difference??? Comments?

Also, I will be looking to buy:

Tractor e/hydro
430 FEL
Box Blade
Bush Hog

What should I expect to pay (before tax) for these combo's in 4310 and 4410? I don't necessiarly have to have a green box and hog. I think I read on a post that any GOOD JD dealer should come 15 to 20% off list... Any truth to this?? Thanks,
