He if ya'really don't like em' you could always send them a little closer but still south...how's Orange County, NY sound?

I am sure there are some lemons in the bunch, but then again my JD guy has some Kubotas sitting in his yard, wonder what they were traded for?? ;) He keeps the used Kubotas along with a Ford and a new JD at a roadside display a 1/4 mile from the retail location.

I bet it's not that rare for the bad JD's to end up at Kubota or NH, MF etc. and it probably works in reverse as well. People feel they'll get better trade in on the old stuff if they buy at the same time. They aren't happy so they try something else. Your also probably not going to get great trade in value at the JD, Kubota, MF, NH, etc dealer if he's the same guy you've been battling with and trashing the machine to for a couple of years :o

I heard a rumor, to sweeten the deal you make them take a 12 step "JD Anonymous" program and in return give them another $500 off on an Orange machine :) :)

It's like pickup trucks,if I make a few phone calls I can get you a bunch of guys who swear Dodge is the worst. A couple of more calls and my anti-Ford and anti-Chevy friends will swear that those brands are terrible. Sometimes 5 years later and they've switched sides????? Were they wrong and now they're right? Probably not, it just depends on your last vehicles performance.

I wanted a gear tractor, the shuttle shift would have been nice though. I have no problem with FEL work. I use it for dirt/mud smoothing and manure removal weekly.<br>

If I were a contractor or landscaper and was going to be doing extensive FEL work daily maybe HST would be more of a need. For the average Joe I don't think we spend that may hours doing non-stop FEL work unless it's a special project.<br>

Sounds like you have a lot of property for a 790. I would say get a bigger tractor but since you have the dozer a 790 might be good, depends on how much you want to get away for dozer use. It fits between the trees rather than going OVER them :) It pulls a good sized trailer, fits everywhere, does my other jobs and works well for me. I could use the dozer once in awhile though ;)<br>

Sounds a little risky. Don't know how easy his is but the only safe way might be to remove the FEL and Hoe and have the dealer put them in the bed of 1 HD pick-up and then put ONLY the now smaller and lighter tractor on the trailer.

Can you borrow a trailer? Be creative, many trailers will work safely. Even a big stock type horse trailer is ok but you may have to extend the hoe a little so it's not so high.

Yes, there are non-lethal rounds you can buy. I have never used them or worked in a department that uses them.<br>

I understand what you're going through we have visitors but they don't stay. I have several cats who visit. The one cat we "adopted" stays in the barn, he is very territorial so the visitors don't stay for long. It works out.<br>

As far as dogs they avoid my bulldog for some reason. Too ugly or smelly I suppose :) It must be something with my dog because the neighbors have dog and bear visits to there garbage regularly but I have no problems. The grabage is right next toit eh dog pen, amybe the don't wnat to go there????<br>

Mine tractor souns fine, even quiet..well next to my straight-piped PSD that is :)

I actually am surprised how quiet the tractor is, it makes much less noise than my gas lawn tractor.

I think that dealer is a little pricey unless it has a better warranty. I would try and look online for more comparison prices. I see Agaracats with a full 2 year parts and labor warranty from the dealer for 9,500. So that may be the price difference right there. <br>

Heres a Jinma place (link at bottom) that lists 4 x4 28hp Jinmas w/ loader for 9,999. For 12,400 you get the backhoe as well. Of course you would have to research this place first. Just giving you some prices.<br>

Nortrac has the equivalent Jinmas for 10,500 w/ FEL, Sunshade and 1 year parts only warranty. Might be shipping but may be no tax depending on where you live so it MAY be doable.<br>

Funny you mention no radio headphones. Iwas going to gett hem, but I do feel uncomfortable being totally cut off from my surroundings.

Sounds like you have some nice toys, small but still with 40hp is a nice machine for most of us.

I thought about it but I don't have a real good way of securing it. I could rif something. Even though I am USUALLY the only one in the garage, I would hate to think of a 500-6000lbs cutter falling on my wife or kids.

I may still do it the problem is there are cabinets on the only open wall and it's tough to get to the beams for anchors.

1. rental hours are hard hours on cars on tracors they have to be horrible. Think about it people rented this thing by the hour or day to get jobs done,ouchh!<br>
2. 1100 hours is equal many years of use for a homeowner that you will be in effect losing<br>
3. no warranty or shorter warranty.<br>
4. are you finacing? If you are it will be a higher %<br>
5. it's winter, many dealers have good deals on new machines<br>
6. how much are you really saving?<br>
7. if you want used, get a non-rental machine<br>

I would not spend 11 or 12k on a used rental machine with 1100 hours(or anywhere near that)when I could get a new similar machine for 14k.<br>

I have the ballast box and it must weigh about 500+lbs. no tipping anymore. Just keep the ballast box as low as possible for maximum help.

It is funny how a slight change in weighting can really change things. In this case my weight was the only thing holding it down.

Lesson learned.

With the 500lb wieight box the tractor is very solid. I am leaving it on until spring when the cutter goes back on and off.
