The fis is in! JD will begin sending parts to dealiers end of first quarter of 2000 so get your name in early so you have the fix before spring!!!!

Problem is caused by 2 cylinder system, one for each front wheel which alows the outside wheel on a turn to turn sharper then the inside causing the peeling that you are having, the old 955 series had tie rods which you will notice your tractor does not, thus the problem.

Terry is right, I have a 4300 (traded in a 955) and overall I feelit is a better tractor, I have had some problems but my dealer has jumped on them. One item to look at is the orginal delivery date of the tractor if it was before march of 99 make sure ithas had the new hydro trans put on it mine was delivered late nov of 98 and the early ones had rough running jerky hydro drives.

the 4000 series engines are made by Yanmar and will continue to be, they are however built to John
deere specs the 600, 700, 800, and 900 tractors were aslo all Yanmar engines which should not be considerated a negitave!

I tried to post this response once before but it never came up....but, anyway I paid $18,200 for 3010 HST with 481 Loader, AG tires and SQ-72 bush hog in july. I think you should shop around a little longer. Good luck!

I have a jd 4300 and it has no power compared to the jd 955 that I should have kept. The 4300 does not work as smooth ( Loader) as the 955 and in general has been a pain in the ass to keep running It is also to heavy for the front turf tire size and cuts the turf when you turn it to tight. Find a 855 or 955 and sve yourself some money or wait for JD to improve the 4000 series before you buy.

I have a kubota L175 17HP 2WHEEL drive with a front mount 5'double 2 stage blower it runs it fine. Only problem is its a pain to take off so once its on it stays on for the winter.I also have a back blade that does just fine. Would be interested in selling the snowblower if your looking for one. I have a small driveway and don't really need it.Its a commercial grade blower and its in very good condition.

Maybe it tis different in PA but my State Farm Homeowners policy does cover my tractor as long as it is on my property and not being used commercially.

I have found that spraying some WD-40 on the pins helps make removal and placement easier...you still have to align the arms with the pins but once you have them close enough to insert one then either move the tractor forward or backward to align the other you can slide it into place much easier. <br>I have gotten pretty good at it and can do it in just a minute or two.

Pete,<br>I think what you need to do is go to your local dealer (whatever color you choose) and try out a HST with a front loader to see for yourself what it is like and whether that is the right choice for you. It probably will be a whole lot better than the terramite.<br>Good luck, Doug

Hi Steve: Deere has a very good set of manuals for any machine. You can order the shop manual the dealers use and usually a separate parts manual.<br>Here's the address: JD Distribution Service Center, 1400-13th Street, East Moline, IL 61244. Terry, <br>Don't get me wrong I think the JD is a good machine but so is the Kubota and some times people try to compare apples to oranges ie: implying that the JD has a more powerful front loader when in fact it does not, they are comparable but the specs are misleading because one measures the force from the pin and the other measures from the front of the bucket....it has been a long time since physics and calculus but I do know that those are not equivalant measurements.<br>To answer your question directly the advantages of the Kubota in my opinion are:<br>1) No tire scuffing, that the maufacturer won't work to correct.<br>2) No long waits for delivery<br>3) Better price <br>4) No pedal problems<br>5) No hydaulic lock problem<br>6) Some would ssy that the brake pedals are problem and some would say that it isn't and some would say that plastic fenders are a drawback and some would say that it isn't, so I guess that that is a draw. <br>Evryone has there own preferance and it may even come down to the particular dealer that you are working with but I found that I liked the orange and others obviously won't agree but that is life!<br>Have a good day, Doug<br>

I assume that you are all in the US? America was built on a basis of free enterprise and competition, it always steams me to see people make decisions based on an essentially communistic, non-economic basis. If the dealer provides some extra service to warrant the higher price then that is fine but if you are paying $5 for a widget at dealer A and $10 for the exact same widget at dealer B you MUST buy from dealer A. To do otherwise goes against the free enterprise system and is similiar to welfare (also communistic) because you are rewarding someone for doing poorly....you need to reward the person that is running their business efficiently and wants repeat business and growth and is willing to work towards those goals. The decision should be based on economic reasons,ie: travel time, personal service, quality, etc. but not blindly based on the fact that they are in your community....you are doing them a disservice to reward them for having higher prices, anything else is short sighted. These are the pricipals that have made this country great and always improving rather than stagnant.<br> If that dealer was not willing to accept that he didn't make the initial sale and didn't even want the sale of supplies he deserves to be out of business and he probably will be unless he changes his ways...he is of no service to me!!! <br>Proud to be an American capatalist, Doug<br>

Teeth help to penetrate and break-up the surface and will help get more material<br>especially if there are rocks. I used to work for a supplier to Deere and know<br>that the Dubuque Works (Deere yellow construction equipment)spent a bit of money<br>researching tooth design. The result was a new tooth design for the 310D loader<br>backhoe in the early 1990's. People raved about how they made the loader feel more<br>powerful, when they never changed the hydraulics,only the teeth were different.<br>Good luck. <br>

Ray,<br>I have used a middle buster plow to trench for drain lines and electric line. It works great and only cost me $100 at Central Tractor (here in PA). I was able to rip through roots and all, lay my line and come back and fill it in with the front loader and I was done. Good Luck, Doug

I just recently did some trenching for drainage lines and for an electric line. I found a middle buster plow at central tractor for $100 and it did a great job. I have a Kubota L-3010 (32hp) and I couldn't even feel the plow behind me...even through clay and roots. It would get down approx 18

For $100 bucks you cna't go wrong...you will spend more than that just renting a trencher. Good luck, Doug

I recently purchased an L-3010, HST, LA-481 loader, ag tires, fixed ROPS and a SQ-72

I have tried the 2600 RPM in high gear and have not had any trouble....in fact I abslutely love my tractor and would not have gotten anything different. Good luck, Doug
