The MMM is more of an issue in installation and removal but, I used a set of casters and built a frame for a friend of mine to enable manuvering of the mower. It works great and allows him to roll the mower under a worktable in his shop when not needed so it's out of the way. Several people around here use rear discharge mowers (including myself) and mulching blades so we never need to worry about clippings. We all mow frequently as well.

IMO the laminated wheel is better for the very reason you mentioned. I've seen the solid wheels cut completely into. Now, I always suggest that a precut walk be done so that nothing sharp or large enough to be ejected from the mower and endanger anyone is present, but we all know how people are. I use pneumatic tires on my finish mower but have a laminated wheel on the rotary cutter.

I think it's the attitude/reputation of the manufacturer of the attachments. For instance I have been looking for a new tractor and have been told by three different dealers that if I get a Bush Hog brand loader I can't have a MMM because of the loader frame. Bush Hog has better specs and expects their equipment to be heavily used therefore has beefed up the mounting thus preventing the installation of the MMM. Im sure that other manufacturers have the same limitations.

Excellent post there Tom. I bet that's something many people never take into account. I'm a real stickler about tire pressure, but have seen many tires stretched like baloons or sagging almost to the rims, which is the same problem in reverse. You could overinflate both sets but one size will always "swell" more than the other.

According to Jenningsequipment.com it's 3ph mounted. The Great Bend 751, which is comparable, is 3ph or sub frame mounted. I've included a link.

If it was simply 3HP then, no, it wouldn't be worth it. Usually there's more to the difference than just the HP. Larger capacity hydraulics, additional weight, wider stance, more options, all these go into the equation. Take a good look at the differences and consider what you'll be doing with it and then decide.

My JD mower blades are not meant to be sharpened in the conventional sense about 1/16 of the bottom edge is left square instead of sharp. It's supposed to make the edge last longer. It looks kind of like the depiction below. They cut well and when I sharpen them I maintain that shape.<br>

I also think it may be the sharpening of the blades or the speed that's causing your problem. If I'm correct the rotation of the blades is clockwise therefore at that point cutting tip is moving the same direction the grass is laying and since the lift of those blades is not great, you're not lifting the grass enough to be cleanly cut. The reason that the outside is being cut correctly is that you have a few more seconds for the grass to right before passing the blade tips.

Thanks for posting this Mark. That's like the model I saw except for the hydraulic dump. It looks like it would be a handy attachment for someone to own. It'd be great for setting fence post and such.

Have you tried running the tractor a bit to get the lube moving? I might try it for a short period of time if you've added the recommended quantity of lube.

Most people will generally let cutting equipment (yes, an auger is a cutting tool) get very dull especially those that cut into earth. A sharpening will probably help the auger bore more efficiently. I agree with Mark about the best sharpening tool is a hand file bit, most people are not patient enough to do a good job with a file (me included :). In that case I would take Arts advice and use a hand grinder. Use as coarse a wheel as you can find because it removes material fast and helps keep the metal cool. Take your time and make sure to keep the edge from 'bluing'. WIth that said, mose ground engaging equipment does not require downforce. As for you problem with having to push the arms down, I think you have the speed valve set to closed. If you're having to assist them when their unloaded this may be normal, I have to assist mine from time to time when I'm in a hurry, they will lower just not very fast when unloaded.

Though I've never lived around much large granite I have a good friend that does and he has complained many times to me about that very problem. He takes care of some of his by giving them to local contractors for the removal. And, Yes I do love the shield.

I would definitly haul it back and have it fixed. If oil can get out then dirt/grime can get in. It's figured that if the fluid level is kept at the proper line there should be enough air space to handle any pressure buildup without damaging the seals and not require a vent that might let in debris under the opposite condition.

What size breaker did they install? If they installed a larger one is the wiring sufficient? Sounds like NH didn't do their field testing thouroughly enough.

I just got an initial price on a TC33D, R4 tires, foldng ROPS, Bush Hog 2246QT Loader, Bush Hog 6' FTH-720 finishing mower, with out SS for $19,185.00. another dealer told me on the phone that the tractor alone was $13K.

I agree with most post, Some systems can go long times between pumpings some cannot. On my system I have seperate systems for kitchen and clothes washer. I have been in this house about 15 years and have never had to have it pumped. I have it checked about every 4 years by a neighbor in the business and have not had enough build up to require pumping. I use some of the bio material about every 2-3 months but not sure it's really needed.

I would go with the dump trailer. Most have suspension and some I've heard about can be setup to run the hydraulic pump off a tractors 540 PTO. That way you would have one less engine to maintain and you could use it to tote the tractor as well.

That's not really like a harrow but, we use similar devices around here and they work great as levelers. I drag a piece of chain link fence and a rubber conveyor belt behind the disc. I've seen those chain conveyors and really wished that I could get hold of one instead of the chain link.

Most livestock are pretty selective when given a choice. I always mow the pastures here. I'm in the same boat as Peters, mowing starts here about mid March to first of April.
