I just bought a new 430 loader with my 4310,do you think
it has the updated cylinders on it?Thanks

I have a new 4310 w/10hrs on it,I am replacing the battery
now with a completely sealed battery,why wait for acid gases to start attacking your 25k tractor,80 bucks is
cheap insurance.

WALK UP IT BUT ONLY CRAWL UP IT,GRASS WAS 5FT TALL AND
HAS NOT BEEN MOWED IN 3 YEARS.4310 CRAWLED OVER IT IN 4WD

know if I could handle all of jimbo's problems,I'm thinking

My vote goes for the BUZZ SAW we had on the front of a
WD45 driven off the big belt pulley,that thing looked
like something in a horror movie,sure was a quick way to
cut firewood.

Is your rear mower a 6ft or 5ft and how tall is the grass
you call tall? Does the other 4200 have a 72 mmm on it?
Just trying to get an idea what the 4200's will handle and
what they won't.I like the 4200 because it has smaller
turf tires on it to get under my trees and its costs less
than a 4300.Has anybody every turned up the fuel pump on
one of these yanmars--they seem to be bullet proof????

I would have them check the simple things before they charge you to overhaul the engine,make sure the shut off
cable is returning all the way(if equipted).Check to see if the throttle linkage is opening up all the way.Replace
all fuel filters and make sure you have good fuel flow
from the fuel tank.Check for dirty air filter,also check
for restricted exhaust pipe(kinked or bent)I have seen
that with exhaust systems that run under the tractor.
If the diesel in the tank is over a year old I would
drain it.Did the tractor have low power when you took
it in for the check up? I work on diesel trucks for a
living.Good luck

Good choice Bill,about the rebates I'm not sure I know
what they all are because every dealer I called
had a different rebate(I called about 5 dealers)
but the lowest price was only thing I was after,but
anyway here is the deal I made--new 2001 4200 4wd,hst,
FROPS,rear hyd port,turfs,72"MMM,420ldr with grille
gard,List price was around 24K I paid 18K with 5.9
financing.The dealer also said there was a rebate if I
took the 5.9 financing.This is the best deal I have
seen,I will pick the tractor up in about 2 weeks.
I hope the 72"deck isn't too much for it?

HERE ARE SOME QUICK RULES FOR DIESEL SMOKE
WHITE SMOKE IS UNBURNT FUEL(cold winter start up)
BLUE SMOKE IS OIL GETTING INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER
BLACK OR GREY SMOKE IS BURNT FUEL WITH THE LACK OF AIR
(dirty air filter,worn injector tip holes overfueling
the engine,late injector pump timing,injector pump
out of calibration,worn geartrain to injector pump)
I WOULD ALSO CHECK THAT THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AT LEAST
180 DEGREES F.IF THE ENGINE IS USING OIL AND BLOW BY
LOOKS EXCESSIVE GET THE CHECK BOOK OUT.GOOD LUCK
