I have just purchased a modest farm of 55 acres. I intend to put some Angus to pasture on about 35 acres of the property. The acquisition of a tractor will be my first experience in operating farm equipment.From what I have read so far, it appears that the JD 5105 should be plenty of tractor for cutting the field and other general farm chores. The price issue is another issue entirely. The local dealer quoted $15,426 for the tractor and $2,150 for an MX6 cutter. He said that to add a front loader will run another $1,000 for the hydraulic unit and about $3,600 for the loader.What do you fellows think of this tractor for my application? I think I will hire out the hay bailing since the equipment costs quite a lot for such a small parcel of land. Any thoughts about the price are welcome as well. I had hoped to do a deal for less than $20,000.Thanks,<br>Bob

Understood about the engineer part. Definitely something different with engineers than other professionals ;-)

Bob, Thanks for the reply and the insight about your new 7500. Took delivery on the new Gravely 72" '0' turn mower yesterday, WOW what a machine! 25hp Kohler Command motor of course dual disc brakes, hydraulic lift deck, weight adjustable high back seat with arm rests, drink holder, ect.ect. Mows @ 10.5 miles per hour! Only takes me about 1.75 hours to mow my 5 finished acres! I think I'm going to be real happy with this machine! The new 7500 is suppose to be here this week, just not as excited about it yet cause me and my old girl (1210 ford) went out yesterday and roto-tilled a strip of land 700 feet long 50 inches wide for a row of pine trees. I know I'm going to miss the way she purrs and WORKS. I've been trying to find a friend that needs a compact but everyone I know says their wife won't let them buy mine. Usually, I don't do business with friends but my 1210 is in such good shape I'de sell it to a friend in a blink, hate to see it go to the dealer and have someone that might no deserve it buy it. I'm just glad that my wife says to me "buy what ever you think you need" then stands by with a pen, know what I mean? I'm a real lucky fellow in that respect. I'll probably be more excited when the Kubota actually rolls off the truck in my driveway. Thanks for the response. Bob

I have a Woods 6500 on my Kubota B7500. It's amazing, it will out lift the front bucket by a substatiall amount. I have dug out rocks that would not fit in the front bucket. As far the Kubota Model goes, I have no experience. However, unless your going to be digging in soft soil or constantly taking it off, I would avoid the 3 point hitch model. I would worry about damaging the hitch assembly along with the rest of the machine.

Charles, I have a 1210 4wd Tractor (GST), loader, 5'mower 1600 carefully maintained original owner hrs. VERY good garage kept condition. 7250.00, will take 7000.00. Taking delivery on new Kub 7500 this week, then it will go to the dealer as a trade. If interested let me know. Bob

I got a price of 14,755 today for a TC35D and a price of 13,952 for a TC33D. I'm going with the 35 even though it's more tractor than i need.

Changed the hydro fluid/filters at 100hrs today in my TC33D Boomer,when I removed the old fluid it smelled "smokey, burnt".It's the 1st diesel I have owned. Tractor/fluid was still warm. Fluid was still honey colored,couldn't see any metal in filters.Replaced with 8gal. of Amsoil synth.....I was 50hrs late per New Holland,cant change that now though.Most others change hydro filters only at 100? Hope to get the lo temp squeal out with snthetic. thanks for any input.

Belly mower no wider than your rear tires will allow you to get in much closer than a finishing mower off the back. I use NH 33hp Boomer 60in belly mower + 60in Acre-Ease wing mower off the left side for a 10ft cut. The wing is nice,you can get in under branches without getting wacked in the face,spin it 360' around trees and then pull one pin and drop it off to do the narrower stuff.I mow 5-6mph(flat out in 2nd-hydro)most the time.Wing cuts prettier than belly cause the tractor frt wheels aren't running over the grasss first(like those ZRT moowers with front decks). Acre ease came out tops on my search for a wing. Recommend their commercial model with heavier guage deck-you will slam it into a tree now and then.

CT Farm 3pt spreader. Bought one last summer,holds 1000#,took 2 hrs to put it together because it came with no instructions,made in Italy,I paid$280,spread 2000# fertilizer in an afternoon over my 10 acre lawn.If you let that "twirly thing" spin without much fertilizer it turns to hard clay-one of us talked how it took him hours to chisel it out last year- I thought I was doomed too when I ran it with a low level and saw that brown mess. Well I took a hose to it and it just melted away! Sprayed some WD on it and put it away for the winter. For occaisional use like mine I would recommend it.I'll try spreading grass seed this March/April.

My TC33D also squeals when cold. Most comments on the board here concur that this is normal. The other night my machine fired up @20 degrees F with no block heater, I idled @1500rpm for a minute,suealing pretty good,and started to plow snow @2000rpm,after I saw some heat get into the motor I advanced to 2800. the squeal disappeared after @15min(it slowly quiets down). The looader was a little sluggish the first 10 minutes(rpm dependent I think)besides the cold hydraulics. My 1st winter with my33.Plowed great in 4wd,turf tires unloaded,no chains,650# concrete on 3pt. I dont think I'll have to do any changes for my needs.any comments on keeping the block heater plugged in for weeks at a time?They do that for the compact used for snow removal at my hospital.

I have 18 acres about 1/2 wooded.I bought a NH 33D with a loader,60in mid deck,60in wing mower primarily to mow the mostly open 9 or 10 acres in the fastest manner possible.Yes I did look at those TORO golf course things but came to my senses.I have some mowing around trees and am very happy I went with the 60in vs 72 mid deck because it s just a little wider than the tractor with the deflector pulled up.If there are any 2 trees I cant fit between I cut one down.I have to plug the wing mower, an Acre-Ease commercial unit-heavy guage steel-helpful when you forget its ther and "touch" a tree.I cut in II range as fast as the hydro will go and only slow down when gravity does its thing on hills.I originally bought a TC-25D and it would not pull my hills in II so after 25 hrs I got the 33-much better.LOader never comes off,use it every time Im out.Turf tires and Super steer amazing.1500 ft tarmac to clear of Pa. snow with loader and 650# ballast on 3pt...last owner mowed with a Gravley with gravley wing with a 9ft total cut-I cut his time in half with my 10ft cut and higher speed.

I used a rear loader on the back of an 8N. It worked well and the only complaint I had was that it wouldn't achieve sufficient height for repeated dumpings in one spot.

Is operator leg fatigue a big deal with standard hydro on NH TC25/29/33D? Say after 3 or 4 hours of variable low to high load shuttle work? Kubota Grand L 3010 HST now has an intermediate servovalve to isolate the foot pedal from force feedback from the pump swashplate torgue (Feather-Step HST). Sounds like a good idea from an engineering standpoint, but it is a real plus for operator comfort? Thanks for any input. Needless to say I'm looking at Bommers vs.Kubota.

I just priced a snow plow for attachment to a NH 7308 loader at a NH dealer.
78 inch was $1250. Remove the bucket and attach to loader frame. Looks like a
well designed unit, manual angle setup, springs for shock absorbing.

That is a scary situation have you tried chains since, what percent slope are you talking about my drive is about 6% to 8% slope at 8 or 10% it is much harder to maintain traction

I have seen them sold around here for $4000-4800 with a loader. I will say I don't see that many Fergusons with a loader.

Had a TC25D and upgraded to a TC33D for more hp; both machines exhibited what you describe and both responded to most of the remedies offered. Note -be careful when shifting on steep hills-you loose braking ability.

I have seen some of these low mileage tractors around and for some reason the owners think they are worth what they paid for them and more! This is ridiculous when you can by a new tractor with warrantee for the same money. The used tractor is an older, discontinued model should be at least 20 - 25% less than a comparable new model. But I'll bet there is someone who didn't do his homework that ends up buying this tractor for several thousands too much.
