I just found a replacement shock for the steering unit on ebay. It is selling for 39.00 a lot less than what new holland wants. #7517254885

If you are feeding the deer you won't have to worry about pruning.. The deer will take care of that for you. I have about 150 fruit trees.. and feeding deer is exactly what I do not want to do...

You need to be more specific about the area you live and the size trees you are interested in.

I asked the dealer that and they said that one of the units I believe the 50 inch is made by maletti and the 62 inch is made in Alabama.

Steve, if you read my post again you will see that the 35 is very sluggish when loaded up with fel and mmm. I had the exact issue with it.. it just doesn't seem to have all the power. On the other hand the 40 was really nice... just too big for what I really needed around the home. I have been using my 33 the last week or so as the snow has finally melted here in Ohio. The ground is very soft and I have had to power wash my tractor as it has looked like a mud ball. I had geo thermal installed last fall and now am trying to clean up the area it was installed in the ground. I have many, many boulders to move and leveling to do. I have turf tires as I use my unit on the lawn a lot. Although.... I use it for the pasture and other areas.

The brakes are not an issue.... If you have concerns of using the brake for turning... Superstear takes care of that. If it is for stopping... with hydro just lift off of the pedal you will stop... I don't use the brake unless like the other poster said... is to put the parking on. To me the choice is simple... TC 40 or TC 33.....

I have a TC33 with SS, FEL, and 72 inch MMM rear discharge. If you plan on running a read discharge mmm just remember that it will take up all the hp you have if you get into deep or thick grass. I also have a JD 935 with a 72 deck and side discharge and it does alot better in heavy grass. When just tossing the clipping out the side and not having to mulch and move them our the rear you don't need as many pony's.

SS.. I guess could mean Shuttle Shift or Super Steer but probably in most cases Super Steer... which is a reall cool feature...

Saving eight hundred dollars isn't a wise savings unless in the long run it saves you. If your local dealer has great service and is willing to support you when you have problems and the long distant dealer is going to be there for you when you have issues... Like sending someone to your house to fix a problem or sending a trailer to pickup your tractor... then $800.00 goes aways quickly... Friendship and service goes a long way...

I have a 33 with SS. I have 15 ac of land. If I had 45 ac I would of gone with a 40 with SS. But my main concern was more of ground maintainance. So getting a good yard cut and around a lot of trees was more important.

Interesting to hear that you thought the ranger was under powered. I tested the Ranger and the Mule units and was very suprised at the get up and go the Ranger had. If you weren't carefull you could sling gravel all over when you got into the trottle. The mule on the other hand at a top speed of around 25 or so was not very quick at the bottom or top side of the speed catagory. The seating was better in the Ranger and the unit was much more smoother.

As far as the mule goes I have driven it extensivily and in the cold it is very hard to get started although once started it seems to run fine. This would be the GAS engine unit. I hear the diesel does start better. As far as driving in the snow.. I can only say that in about 2 foot snow with 2 wheel drive only.. locked in it is ok as long as you don't get into a sloped area ... I got stuck a few times and had to get out and push and pull with my ATV's assitance. I think four wheel drive would of done alright.

If the Mule was just faster like the Ranger 40 MPH I would probably look at the diesel unit.. if Ranger had a Diesel unit I would have one now.

Thanks, I guess if I could find one at a good price that is reliable and hook right up with little to no modifications AND I can get parts for I would pick one up. The dealer that is local had some to show me and they looked like rust buckets and required a lot of modifications. And for 650.00 to paint, cut, and weld it wasn't a good deal.

I guess having tested the 33/35/40 units I can provide my thoughts as to using them with MMM. Upfront, I ended up with a 33 with SS, MMM, FEL and other attachments. The 40 is GREAT.. just too big for yard work in my situation. The 35 was also on the same frame as the 40 with one difference... it didn't seem to have much power to pull itself up slops with the mmm running... My thought was it was just a 33 engine in a larger frame. The 33 had more power .. or appeared to have more as it was in a smaller chasis which allowed it to move about better.

If I could of used a larger unit it would of been the 40.. I would of even moved to the 45 if a mmm was available and my landscape could of handled the larger chasis...

What you would want to watch is that if the gauge stays full and when you open the fuel cap you get a swish of air and then look at you guage to see if it drops... If that happens you are having a vaccum issue.
