Your B7500 might be kind of large for lawns. The best of the 'corer' aerators were made years ago and I have no idea who made them. They were good because they were HEAVY. I bought a 5 footer about 4 years ago new. It has a barrel that I fill with water (about 30 gallons or so). I also add additional weight for better penetration of the corers. I do about 30 acres of clover per year (once each way). I do this after application of seed,fertilizer, and any needed lime and have not had to plow up the 'rocky' land for 5 years now. Also, I have just about doubled my baled hay each year and we have had some darn dry years the last couple years. It was a little innovative on my part, but it works and I dont have to pick up stones for days on end.

Sounds to me as if many guys dont understand that the 'old' tractors that were not 4 wheel drive actually DID need brakes to help turn them, whether it was cultivating corn, planting corn, disking, or turning at the end of the field when plowing. I assume many of these guys never even drove an 'old' tractor that required use of the brakes for this. It appears to be a fruitless arguement. Cant explain something to someone who never did it.

I was going to suggest checking all your wiring for possible
mice or other animal byproducts etc. (It happened to me!)It blew out my voltage regulator on my B-2400. I carry 2 each of every fuse "with" the tractor, plus I carry an extra voltage regulator (it takes one wrench and less than 5 minutes to change). Things you learn over the years. Had the mice or little red squirrels do the same thing to one of my four wheelers, while sitting in the garage one winter. Now I use alot of moth balls when storing and have not had a problem.

Anyone out there have any idea why my power steering would start 'growning' when I turn the wheel(even when not moving), it began about 6 weeks ago, not real loud, but has been getting to be more of a noise as time goes on. I checked everything possible, but fluid is full and everything else looks good. I have driven Fords with power steering for over 20 years and never had this occur. It has about 93K on it and is a 4 wheel drive. 8 cylinder vortex engine - 4.6<br>
Any ideas would be appreciated. It does NOT turn any harder either, just makes the 'grown' noise.<br>

I did something 'novel', I pulled the "cruise" attachment.
Very easy to do - about 10 seconds, start to finish.
I was told if this was done, a fire was not possible from this problem. I had over 90,000 miles on the truck - a 1998 F-150 4+4 that I purchased new. I really doubt I would have had to do it. If you check into how many trucks this occurred with (a fire) you will see it is small. I realize it is a potential problem, but after 90K and being my #3 truck out of 4, I wasnt going to have some dealer screw with it. If a fire happened to any of you - I do sympathize with you. Not much you can do now. Most people dont know that recall work for vehicals is one of the most profitable things a dealer gets to work on. I just couldnt justify it after driving it over 90K already.

You may want to look into a used kubota B-2400 or similar. I have had one for 11 years and it is simply unbelievable what this little tractor can do. It will run a 5 foot brush-hog with ease, a backblade, a 4 foot FEL and runs a 5 foot tiller with ease. I often see these for sale with low hours and wonder why they are for sale. I use mine 'hard' and it does a ton of work. For your acreage it would be plenty and you should be able to get a good used one with a FEL for well under $20K. Tiller, backblade, and brushhog would be extra, unless the person has the whole works.
Also, get the hydrostatic with 4 wheel drive - you simply will not be sorry.

The Kutter brand is gear driven with a slipclutch and shear pin. I sometimes wonder if these dealers have ever used any of the stuff they sell? I have used my Kutter side by side with a buddy who has a Deere and there is basically no difference. I bought via Fleet Farm - dont feel I need a dealer bias thrown in. If you look each type over, you will find most are pretty much the same - gear driven that is - so get the cheapest that will do the job. I am no brand fan except for Kubota.

You may have a "mid" pto, which is used for various implements. Dont know how new your tractor is, but I run my front end snowblower at about 2000rpms. Should be switches to go from one to the other if you have both.

You might want to try taking a pass with the tiller mulching the grass 1st. I have found that to be very effective, especially if it is green grass. Other than that all I can think of is you may not have your rpm's high enough or the tractor is underpowed.
Always get a slip-clutch (with shear pins if possible) unless you are going to only work sand or peat. You want that tractor to stop if you hit something like a rock or a root. It could save your life.

You should be able to insure the tractor via your homeowners policy AS an 'individual' tractor. For the few hundred bucks it costs, it is worth it to me. I insure (at cost)for extra coverage over and above my contents coverage of my outbuildings. This includes tools,equipment,etc. It just makes me feel better that the big item stuff is covered if something happens (fire,tornado,etc.). I dont know about your coverage via bringing the tractor home. I have a tri-axel trailer and go and get all my own stuff and my trailer and truck coverage would cover that. Dont depend on "contents' insurance via a homeowners policy. My best buddy has an insurance agency and he said to cover each 'big' item individually, it doesnt cost that much. It goes per thousand.

I am not too sure how 'handy' you are with a cutting torch or a welder, but I built myself a tri-axel trailer with 3-3.5K axels. I salvaged most of the stuff and lucked out and got the 3 axels(and an extra 4th) for nothing. It takes alot of measuring,cutting, and welding. A buddy of mine wired it and put on the lights - just had to pay for the parts. In Wisconsin, it also has to be inspected and licensed. It can be done, but unless you have others with experience, it may well cost you more. I cut my own boards from my own trees in my neighbors small sawmill. I probably have less than $1000 in the trailer. I pull it with my 1998 F-150 - 4+4(with inflatable airbags). It is more than I need but, better more than not enough. I pull my bulldozer, tractors, haybails, etc. with no problem, and it is street legal.

I am not sure of your mix, but this is the ideal time to 'top seed' which many of us have gone to in this area of Wisconsin. Our ground is so rocky, to plow, disc, drag,seed, and drag again - would require many,many hours of picking rocks. We 'top seed' a very hardy red clover as early in the spring as possible. Usually, when the snow if off. Even if it snows again - no problem - the stuff wont sprout till the temp is right. Spring rains 'drive' the seed in, but red clover seed is small, not sure about rye.
I wouldnt bother with 'scuffing' the field. All the work will be done by the rain. If you have pasture you want to get rid of, spray with round-up first and wait a week or so.
I aslo run an aerator over the top each way to get oxygen and opening into the soil. Also, dont forget the lime and fertilizer, if you need it.

With a brush-hog mower, you can adjust the back wheel(if it has one) and the 3 point hitch to cut at that level. I do this occasionally on patches of rape that I plant for the deer. It works fine for me. I run at high rpm to realy chop the stuff up and allow it to regrow. Even with out a wheel, you could just use your 3point to hold it up and do some adjusting to get a faily level cut. Just depends how picky you are on the 'mulch' cut you state.

Not sure how far you want to get into this or how much work you have to do, but I would bet a 3/8 inch piece of 'strap metal'(strong stuff), the length of your bucket. Get on as wide as you need for the proper grade you need. Then you would need to have someone(or do it yourself) - cut it to the proper grade you want. Lastly, you would need to bolt it to you FEL with several strong bolts. I have done things similar, but not what you are talking about.
If it saves the back and time, those holes in the bucket wont cause a problem and it is cheap to do. You could make several for several different grades and line up the holes so you could interchange them.

I didnt realize you were doing a whole road for a subdivision. Do you have curb and gutter or ditches. That would be a big job and should have a little crown due to the width. The driveways I do are rarely more that 10 feet or so wide - so, flat works well.
Sounds to me something the developer should have had laid out prior to selling lots. That is required here in Wisc.
