I could think of a lot of things until I finished reading that might be wrong but with what you were doing you are fine. I'd watch the situation but not worry unless you can find out exactly what it is.

Had the same problem with my 2N after I upgraded to the alternator kit. I did not have a 12 volt coil and this made it terribly hard to start. It would run and ran good once you got it going. Once I changed the coil to 12v, you just touch the starter and it starts.

For any of the sub-compacts go to the cat 0 and 1 for a good fit on three point attachments.

Yes, I read your post about GST vs HST and I'm sure your results are as stated. But, I also have done the exact same things with a gear and hydro and got the same (nickel's difference) results.

I've tilled with both tractors and I couldn't see the difference.

I will admit and the manufacturers do also, that there is a power loss from gear to HST but no way is there 40%. 10% maybe but that goes down as the HP and torque goes up.

I'm not trying to argue with ya, my friend. Just telling you what I've experienced

Wiggly . Not A tree hugger by any stretch . But, How does the bio Diesel hold up in the winter ? Does it "wax " up ?
It's very limited as far as being available here . I'd like to try it , just to see how it performs . John

Now how did I know you were going to have soooooo much fun with that machine.

I had some 'gee I'm glad I have a cab fun' too this weekend, a neighbour got their one ton dump truck stuck in a manure pile while dumping a 'fresh load' off. Since the weather has been pretty warm recently and the pile had JUST been turned over for the first time this year, it was a little , err, ummm, aromatic. I told him I would pull him out, but I was staying in the cab wih the A/C on. By the time he got the truck chained up and I got him out he was crying, and I don't think it was from the joy of getting the truck unstuck.

I also don't think he waited long to hose it or himself down when he got home either.

Your comment that it "sputters and dies" leads me to think it is not getting enough fuel to run wide open under load.
I would check that the fuel pump is working properly.

If it is not the fuel pump I would look at some sort of electrical failure as the machine warms up from the work, my experience usually though has been that electrical failures result in the motor dying more like the key was turned off.

If you want to start a new subject, click the icon at the upper right of the screen that says "jump to board". A screen cascades down with various subjects. Tractor attachments/implements 3ph would seem appropriate for talking about "old plows".

Once you've hit that category another screen pops up. Just above the chart heading is Post a New Message ....... If you hit that, you will get to start a new message.

I would enjoy talking about "old Plows". I have a single bottom for my CUT and a 3 bottom left over from farming days with my dad.

Well, I forgot dig. camera when I looked at it again but I will get some pics shortly. We decided on $13,000 and I still think it's a good deal. It has a number 80 bucket, 8 backhoe and a canopy. It also has only 595 hours, which is great for a machine this age. Thanks for the advice...

Dealers have told me that self contained 3pt hoes are stronger that ones that run off the tractor hydraulics. As for used ones, just make sure they are tight. If they are loose, then you'll have to replaces the pins and bushings sooner or later. I wouldn't be afraid of one with loose pins or bushings, but I would knock the price down because of it.

My LP3584 mower has four corner wheels, air inflated with a tube. The problem is that when I make a turn without lifting the mower deck, the tire bends over and loses air and deflates as the tube is pinched. It's expensive to get new tubes and install them. Should I change to solid wheels? Any other ideas? Thanks in advance.<br>

Chris, I doubt you will find any information on those cutters.

I don't know of any that were made in anything but a small welding shop on a VERY limited basis.

There were problems with them, mostly that they didn't work worth a darn under heavy loads, They also had a nasty habit of starting grass fires, which still got rid of the long grass, just not in the best manner.

They were commonly home-made though in rural areas since they, like the v-shaped single stage snowblowers could be made easily from mostly scrap and didn't need any complicated engineering or tooling to produce.

You might pressure test the cooling system and run a leak-down compression check. Something I'll call 'block test' can be put into an engine to detect exhaust gases in the coolant. The trouble with figuring the problem of a one way leak is that the oil and coolant systems are separate. There has to be a path between them and the oil pressure always would have to be higher than the coolant pressure. That wouldn't be the case for anything involving cylinders, although would be good to check for white exhaust and also crankcase blowby. I guess there's certainty that no coolant is in the oil.

If it's coming from exhaust gases there should be gas as well as oil in the coolant. If it's coming from the oil supply there's not a lot of opportunity if the oil feed to the rocker arm is through an external tube. It might be good to check the oil and coolant systems to see where there's opportunity for a one way exchange and also the possibility that it's diesel or hydraulic oil. If the oil supply goes through the head there could be a crack between high-pressure oil and coolant. passages.
