I've seen it done. The problem is that unless the ground is EXTREEMELY flat it doesn't work very well.

On a 4-wheel FMM the deck is mounted REALLY close to the front wheels of the chassis and it 'crab-steers' (back wheels turn, not front) and it is a short wheelbase. This means there is only limited flex required in the driveshaft, and the relationship between the chassis and the deck never varies to an extreme degree.

If you mount a FMM deck in front of a CUT the slightest rise or fall in the ground will make a BIG bend in the driveline. Also, because a CUT is front wheel steering when you tiurned a corner there would be a big arc on the inside which was driven over but not yet cut. The other problem is the length of drive-shaft that would be required and the speed it would be spinning, it would rquire carrier bearings to prevent some serious whip.

There are many good reasons why nobody builds a FMM for a CUT, this is just some of them. A MMM is the best you're going to get for overall advantages cutting with a CUT.

This trend is in tractors as well as computers. JD is now manufacturing the 5003 series tractor in India. They can ship the tractor here and still sell it for 3 to 4 thousand less than the basic same tractor made in Mexico or the USA. The sad part is by purchasing these tractors, American workers are losing jobs. The question is....What do we do about it? Lower prices for goods is what drives the market and EVERYONE wants lower priced goods. So when you purchase these overseas made products you put US workers out of a job, which leaves less (US$) income to be spent to buy US made products which we are tring to sell. It's a downward spiral. Where does it stop? I don't know the answer. I do believe if the unions would come to their senses and stop tring to make US companies pay US workers $30 - $40 per hour, US made products could be produced for less and in return be priced more competetive in the market, therefore increasing the amount of US made products sold and therefore increasing the demand for US jobs. Does this make sense to anyone else?

Intel justifies sending jobs overseas by complaining that their product development costs are too high. The REASON their costs are too high is NOT that people are paid too much, it's because THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE HOW TO DEVELOP A PRODUCT!<br>

Intel can't develop any consumer product without staffing a department of 100 people. That's just plain nuts. So, instead of reworking HOW they develop products they just move the 100 person department to India and hire more people just to translate!<br>

They should pull a page from IBMs book (when they were successful) and realize that small, dedicated teams can do far better than big, cumbersome, bureaucratic organizations. Heck, IBM spun off a small team of, what, a dozen people to develop the original IBM PC.<br>

Case in point. The last product I helped developed was a high end hand-held laser joulemeter that sells for $25k+. This was developed by an engineering team of FOUR people. One EE, one ME, one SW guy (me), and one guy to put it all together. What the heck would we have done with a department of 200 people? Yeesh, it's NOT THAT HARD.<br>

I have acquired a Duerr Chipper/675. It is missing a couple of parts that I believe can either be purchased or fabricated. My problem is that I don't even know what a complete machine looks like. Can you scan a picture in and send it to me. It has a 5 hp Brings & Stratton motor that runs quite well. The parts are the side feed hopper and the discharge chute.

Ducati, have you tried your Deere dealer? I recall seeing an offering for the 3pt hitch that is pto driven and relatively inexpensive. Deere may be able to answer all of the fit issue questions.

itsgottabe, are you really as pushy, arrogant, and impressed with yourself in real life as you seem to be on this board?

I've seen far better light setups (for far less money I might add) than yours. Maybe if you're going to be a serious vendor, you should arrange with Dennis to have a banner ad on the site so you don't have to sell your (superior?) product every time someone buys a tractor.

Just remember that if the bucket doesn't give when you run into something the shock will be transferred elsewhere. Hit hard enough and something is bound to give. If you're lucky it will just be a hydraulic cylinder seal, if you're not you might bend or break something really expensive. It's always best to avoid running into stuff :)

You need to give more info, like about how big a tractor your looking for, if you want 3pt. mower, or what area of the country you are in, and Yanmar only makes diesals.

woods makes an entire series just for the Kubota bx series. To deal with its low 3pt lift height. They also built a loader for it. There the same quality as the big stuff, just scaled down alittle.

I bought my B7500 used with the mower and loader. I love it. But the buckets has no strenght in it. So have a welding shop add some veritcal cutting edges and bottom wear srips on it. I bent mine. The $50 to $75 at the welding shop will keep you from buying a new bucket at $450. I am going to do this, but don't know when i get to it. There aren't enough lights on that tractor. So i build lights that mount to the ROPs. I am builting them for tractor point members at $225 plus shipping. see pics

Grinder are you going to get that cab. Because you will have to do the same for your tractor to make it work with a cab. Hydraulics, rear wiper, time to do it, etc.

I read your post on Dieselram.com and I am a little confused. Just wanted to make sure we are talking apples and apples. Does your truck have the 47RE or 48RE transmission? Is the engine the ISBe or ISB engine? (i.e. does the engine have the common rail fuel injection system or the VP44 injection pump?) Don't let the deal do any more reflashes. Most of the techs have no idea what they are doing and screw it up. I would strongly suggest you join TDR and post your problems with the truck there. I am betting the many smart folks over there will have an effective and productive answer for you.

Good to hear that you got some closure on the problem and you are satisfied with your 990. I think all of us need breaking in with our tractors when we first get them along with the tractor. I sure do. ;o)

We had the same experience. We were exhibiting in the South Wing and more than one of our customers were treated exactly the same way. I think this was a NH traveling Show team on it's last gig after being out on the road for 2 months but still is inexcusable.

Mark, I'd recommend going with a 72" box scraper. The 60" won't cover your tire tracks. What transmission is included in that price? If that is an eHydro that is a pretty fair price. Are you working in a rough area (logging, etc)? What kind of soil conditions will you be working in? If you're working in the Pacific NW Woods I think the R4 tires may cause you some problems. I live and work in the Oregon woodlands and the R4 tires caused me no end of grief in the clay soil here.

Looking at a "79" dsl. 950 2200hrs. w/ Schwartz FEL and 505 5'rotary mower. Buyer has the lot insured for 6700.00 and is having an auction guy and a dealer appraise. Auction guy says $3500.00, dealer(friend)hasn't looked yet.<br>
Think this is a yanmar dsl. Any thing I need to be wary of with this year/model/engine?? Price??

On my 4310 (and probably nearly all tractors) it's real easy to rotate the rear tires by hand when the rear end is raised with a floor jack. On a gear machine you need it out of gear. I don't lift it high enough to worry about jackstands - just a half inch or so until the tire is completely unloaded. Chock the front wheels to be safe. It sure beats trying to drive around until the valve stem is at 12:00.
