I bought a 5 ft. Pittsburgh 3-point disc-harrow,I bargained with the dealer for an extra 100 lbs.added to it plus I added another 100. Even with that it is only good for plowed ground--its just to light for sod or established growth.I have a 25-60(HEAVY) Land Pride roto-tiller that is my most used impliment for that kind of work.Beside tilling it`s handy for leveling. Newer models have a reversing capability that would be helpful.My advise on tillers is over buy(weight)--they have destruction built into thier soul and it helps the penetration,especially in established growth.

Jason, I have been sitting on the side lines watching this one and the problem is that none of us have the whole story. We have one side and that seems to not have a lot of information. I do not know if you are in sales and if that might affect your answer. I do not sale tractors but I am in the service business and am all too familiar with the folks who only want the lowest price. I have to say that I expect those who are only interested in price get what they paid for. If they are really fortunate, they get more but all of us know that rarely happens. <br>OK so enough of that and back to what we do know happened. This guy went to shop B for the lowest cost. We will assume that this shop will provide equal service and for the time being all else is equal with the exception of cost. Dealer A who lost the deal is now not interested in selling parts either. Although I can understand dealer A's irritation at losing the deal, I also understand that he forgot the first thing about sales, and that is that the custormer is always right. Sell him the parts, make your profit, take care of this guy and maybe just maybe next time you will sell the tractor. All dealer A has now done is gurantee this guy will not come back and worse yet he will tell all his friends and neighbors this guy is not good to deal with. <br>So who lost in this deal. Very simply the dealer both coming and going and now he has compounded the problem. For all sales, service and etc. folks, remember we work for these people. We don't always like what they do, or who they are and etc. and etc.. But if our businesses are built on selling only to who we like, then we will shortly be out of business. I hope others who work with the public understand what I am saying, but I am afraid many do not.

Hi Steve: Deere has a very good set of manuals for any machine. You can order the shop manual the dealers use and usually a separate parts manual.<br>Here's the address: JD Distribution Service Center, 1400-13th Street, East Moline, IL 61244. For just a little extra on the monthly payments, I would definatly go with the 4300. Unless money is the sole issue here. What the issue should be, is this is going to be a tractor that you might keep for over fifteen to twenty years, and you will want a machine that is comfortable. Which the 4000 series are. Superior Operating platform. Loader is by far easier to take on and off on the 4000 series. And the performance of the loader is great.. very fast & powerful hydraulics. The other tractor is just basically an economy tractor.. Resale Value, I would think would hold a lot more too with the Luxury tractor.. Just my thoughts though...

Hello, <br>I had the same exact problem, I have a large pond, and I don't take my John Deere 4200 that close to the rim of the pond. However, I bought a DR. TRIMMER MOWER, on wheels.. I am very happy with it. Does exactly what I hoped it would do. The Cords that do the cutting on this is so heavy duty, that I have only broke them a few times, and that is only when I am trimming around large sharp edged boulders. Replacing the cords is so easy on this machine.. it is just like tying a boat up to a dock, using a boat cleat. Just put the line in one hole and out thru another. very easy... I love it! Besides it is absolutly no effort at all pusing this machine around since it is on large bicycle style wheels. Good luck

The DeltaHook and Freedom Hitch are very similar concepts with one male section that stays attached to the tractor 3PH and a series of female sections that remain on each 3 point implement. I have the Freedom Hitch and it works very well. The only adjustment I sometimes need to make in switching from one implement to another is to the top link of the 3PH and this can be done from the tractor seat. It is sold directly by Midwest Industries of Ida Grove, IA (call 1-800-586-3811 for video tape or to order) and costs about $200 per section. You do not need to modify any implement to attach the female section since there are numerous holes, slots, and adjustments availble to accomodate differences in geometry. The

Bruce is it a 2wd or a 4wd, looks like average price for 2wd is $5400 and for 4wd is about another $1000. Without knowing condition of implements and etc., would assume about another $750 to $1000 with the tractor. Hope this helps. By the way these are average auction prices off the Farm equipment guide.

Keith<br>The oval holes you refer to, make them bigger if nessesary & inset a small bushing the right size & weld it in place.<br>Just a thought,call your jd dealer with the model # of tiller & price tines, then you know exacly what they cost, providing your tractor will handle it?

Jack, I bought an 870 with 450 hrs. 4wd, loader, bushog, new JD 660 tiller, posthole digger, 6 prong rippers, 6' backblade for 16k. I have put another 120 hrs on it with zero problems. The 70 series JD has a reputation of execellent reliabilty. Even the local Kubota sellsman told me to buy this tractor when he could have sold me a new L2500 I had been looking at for a couple months. Any more questions about the 870 feel free to e-mail me. I also have brochures and specs on any 70 series JD's.

I bought a New Holland TC29D and so far has over 30 hours on it. Only smokes a bit when started, but after that, no smoke.<br>As for New Holland customer service, it all depends on the dealer. I have bought some weights and a few attachments and have had no problems. They are even helpful when I call for stupid questions.<br>My general opinion is, the New Holland Boomers are good machines.<br>-Greg G. Gleinig
