From reading some of Marks earlier post he seems to do more dirt work than mowing so concidering that the larger more powerful 4310 seemed like the ticket, but but as he stated he not a bells and whistels man.As far as a backhoe goes on any CUT, they are super expensive and they only seem good for light duty task. I guess you can do more if adding a lot of hours to a job is not a big deal.DOC you have a point there, price goes up and up and so does the completed work list.I guess I think that way beings I only get the weekends to complete my to do list.when you talk about ground breakin I don't there's such thing as to big.that's just my though's and if everybody agreed what kinda of world would that be?

Sorry for asking so many questions but this is the place to learn. I am leaning toward the 2210 JD w/ FEL. Are the hydraulics strong enough for the 210 loader? Do the tires hold up to punctures? Is the ground clearance enough? Are the individual brakes missed? Thanks, trailmaker

I have worked on some newer resin teak ply boats that were really not much more work than a glass boat. A couple had retired to one in the bay when I was a teen. I sailed it with him a couple of times and helped him bottom paint it a few times.

Worked on some older yellow cedar boats. It is remarkable how long the wood will last in the water. There are not to many even know how to do major repairs the larger boats today. How many people have steamed planking?

The chickens would help and so might some lime. I dug a pit about 12' x 8' x 2' a few years back. We've been putting unshredded leaves and pine needles in pit late fall, mounding it up several feet above grade and covering it with soil. Some nitrogen fertilizer and lime also are added.

I turn it over a few times during the spring and it seems like there's always a yard or two on the bottom that's ready for use by fall. I add the compost to garden in the fall, which makes room for the new batch of leafs that are about to drop. Works pretty well but I do have to keep sticks and twigs out of the pile and a chipper/shredder would let me use more material and speed up the composting.

My B2910 suggested break-in was to vary RPM and avoid WOT as Tom stated, that is what I did. I would not lug the motor, even while breaking in my Harley under their strict guidelines that limits RPM for extended periods they tell you not to lug the motor. This is my third new diesel and I can tell you after about 100+ hours you can "feel" the difference, just like in a gasoline engine. I continue to vary RPM unless I am mowing in heavy grass, usually within a few hundred of max PTO speed. That is the same way I operated our Ford/Case/JD construction hoe's years ago, including during the break-in period, and the ones I was responsible for were the best ones in the fleet (not bragging,just fact).

A dedicated hoe and loader probably would be better at digging than tractor mounted attachments. The costs and time of maintaining an entire second machine should be added on to purchase price, which could be a bunch for a used hoe.

If the need for a hoe is occasional and light duty, a less expensive 3ph hoe might be considered with due consideration for the possibility of damage to the tractor.

Considering TC40D w FEL and backhoe - why not used backhoe

If somebody has a parts manual, an exploded diagram should show the bracket. It may be that the bracket is considered a common hardware part to be supplied by a dealer. Manuals usually show such parts, but they don't have part numbers. Manuals also usually indicated each part supplied in a sub-assembly. At least in my Ford manual, it's not uncommon that a sub-assembly doesn't include mounting hardware.

I know I'm not being very helpful here but I have neither a picture nor a manual. I'm just making a point that parts manuals can be very useful.

I've heard of parts assembled by shrink fitting--sort of a poor man's press fitting. An inner part such as a shaft is placed in dry ice and the outer part is heated with a torch. Something like that may be helpful here and might allow the rail to be rotated. I think rotating it is the key to getting the rail out.

My Ford manual makes a point of saying the ball detents must be 'collected' if they aren't removed before removing the rails. From a picture it looks like they are held in their receptacles by the top-cover and probably could be removed with one of those magnet-finger things when the cover is off. Well, that wouldn't help if a ball is stuck but it might be a test to see if one is stuck.

Peters, in this circumstance PHD stand for Post Hole Digger, NOT Piled Higher and Deeper.

Besides most people put those in a cheap frame and hang them on the wall.

Been meaning to get the wife a better frame for 15 years.

Need information on how to pull the fuel tank for repair. Tank Strap type bracket is easily removed, but instrument shroud prevents removal. What is the best method of removing this tank? All replies much appreciated.

I am trying to decide between a New Holland 40D Hydro tran with loader and a Kubota L3830 GST with loader. The price on the NH and Kutota are the same - about $20,000. I like both dealers. Any suggestions on what way to go? I fell like the NH is a little beefier. I think I also prefer the Hydrostatic Transmission. Also, I prefer the 4 versus 3 cylinder on the NH.

Mark, negotiations with Kubota over the factory cross threaded screen filter on my BX22 continue. Both the dealer and Kubota corporate (warranty guy) told me that since the screen filter is on the suction line, the worst case is a leak which could introduce air into the hydraulics. So far there are no signs of a leak, but my anxiety about this whole thing remains. At minimum I'm going to ask for a letter from Kubota acknowledging the issue.

I dont know about sub-culture. In SE Michigan the Me-fuirst or I'm more important mentality has gotton REALLY bad. I used to hear people in NYC or other places are going at a furious pace and are generally unpleasant. They have nothing on My fellow statesmen. When I drive to Canada I get so used to driveing properly in the right lane and passing in the left that when I come back I have to take a refresher course in offensive driveing.

As Tom replied, If you sharpen blades they leave sharp stubs but deos a fair job finish mowing, If left unsharpened they shatter them well. what I did was cut all my sapplings down shattering everything them sharpened them as I will be keeping it mowed so it produeces better finish look.
