The Land Pride stand is a DISPLAY stand not a STORAGE stand, there's a world of difference.

For a PHD parking/storage stand you want something that forms a cradle for the gearbox as the first point of contact. A design which allows you to lower the gearbox & auger into a combined cradle taking all the weight except the boom & driveshaft is the easiest for putting on & taking off the PHD.

In the design shown on the Land Pride site you would have to balance the PHD vertically on the tip of the auger while you disconnected it from the 3pth and hooked it to the stand. Doesn't sound very fun or easy to me.

Mark, it sounds like you had a exciting ride and didn't have to go to an amusement park for it! One of the things of being here and trying to help people that makes it hard is the fact I can't see the property! Not everyones property is the same nor are the conditions or applications. There is always going to be conditions that need true four wheel drive for safety.

My Mule 3010 Diesel is great, with one exception - the ground clearance is fairly low. Any ideas on raising this without spending too much? I thought about higher tires (anyone want a set of new tires and wheels?). There are probably lift kits out there, does anyone have any experience with these? I use the unit for working my mountain property - skidding logs, etc. Thanks for any input.

I could not agree more about walking the ground first. I moved some heavy rocks this weekend, and I walked the entire route first, because it was hazardous enough that I wanted to make sure what track I was going to take.

Also, I tend to reuse the same tracks, once they are made, but washouts and slides to occur that mean that you still need to be careful even on those tracks that you "know."

I would stop at an hour and see how dirty the screen is in front of the radiator. Then look to find out is there is any other things that might be bad.

Unfortunatly, I can't help that much as the new decks are just being delivered. The main reason for the added metal in the decks is for working in the south with the sand. I don't know that the wind under the deck would be any better from one to the other. As with most all Kubota decks They also use the double pulley system and a double V belt for longevity and performance.

Tom, a lot of what I was talking about relates to how the panels are supposed to be installed. From a practical standpoint, you have to ask a simple question...How often and how long am I going to be using the generator?

If you have a cabin and it is powered by the generator alone, then multiple grounding points are probably not going to apply. If you are using your generator for emergency power, then it is not going to be on for more than a few days at most, and is not going to cause the ground loop problems as long as it is completely removed from the electrical panel by the transfer switch when it is not being used. You may want to look for groundloops if you have problems with electronic equipment, but most of us are going to be more worried about refrigeration, heat, water pumping and so forth rather than computers and stereos.

Did you buy the Bush Hog loader from the same dealer that you ended up buying the New Holland 7308? If not, who was the dealer where you bought the Bush Hog loader?

I also bought a Bush Hog M246 loader and tried to return it, but my dealer and Bush Hog refused to allow me to return it. I would really appreciate any help you could provide!

A.......no........ it looks quite apparent to me that KMA stands for what it implies since you closed signing WillieH and you have not signed with KMA anywhere else. Seems to me, most people sign once. If you are going to behave like a child, at least have the decorum and spinal integrity to stand behind what you do and say. You are starting to sound like a former president (WJC). Those are his "proper name initials". <;o)

I needed to move some large rocks weighing several hundred pounds this weekend. It was necessary to go on some steep hills and even traverse across some slopes. This is rocky desert terrain in New Mexico. The soil is sandy and dry. This is similar to the condition that started this thread.

Based on some of the discussions that we have had in this thread and others, I decided to try some things. Baseline information...My tractor is a NH TC45 4WD with 16LA Loader with calcium loaded R4 rear tires.

Some of the travel was not comfortable because of the sloped ground. Traversing the side slopes was the most uncomfortable. From a "personal comfort" standpoint, I felt better driving up the hills with the weight in the loader rather then backing up the hills, but I could make the slope either way. All travel used 4WD and both brakes locked together.

When traversing across the slope, the front end definitely had a tendency to slide down the hill with the weight in the loader. Engaging the differential lock definitely helped keep the front end from sliding down the hill. When going through washouts and over small rocks, the differential lock also helped. Lesson..I will rely on the differential lock more than I ever have before when driving in straight lines and especially on side slopes and rocky terrain.

On one occasion I was driving down a smooth slope with a large flat space at the bottom. I had no load in the FEL. I have a 12X12 synchro shuttle transmission. I can generally downshift or upshift as needed. But, on the hill, the speed comes up so fast when you engage the clutch to shift that you cannot do this on a sloping surface. In this case, I did not shift, but just let back out on the clutch slowly. The speed was caught, but the rear wheels may have skidded a bit during the slow down. As I said, this was not a dangerous position to try this, because of the wide open run out area. The lesson here is to pick a speed and stick with it. If it looks tricky start out slow and stay there. With a HST, you may have more variability, but reducing speed on a hill is like braking and can cause a skid.

I have fooled around extensively with 2 wheel agrifab and similar trailers. They are fine and quite sturdy if you stay away from the $100 loss leader model.

The light duty cheapo will have a 3/4 inch axle, thinner sheet metal and believe it or not, plastic wheels with pneumatic tires.

The one you want will have a 1" axle, heavier sheet metal and metal wheels. An assessment of the various listed shipping weights will give you a clue as to the quality.

I would stay away from the imported from china model for that reason. Northern charges a bunch of money for shipping, and sometimes better deals can be found at Lowes, Home Depot and even Sears. I have a Craftsman cart that is very well made and the pricing was quite competitive when I added shipping to a Northern product.

BTW... none of them have any sort of suspension. I have one that I have modified with larger wheels that I use in really rough conditions and to haul a 125 gallon water tank.

I am a Life Member of the NSSA, NSCA, and Benefactor Member of the NRA. I did an extensive amount to of Skeet and Sporting Clays shooting and competetion when I was stationed in Europe but just did not find the time when I got stationed at Ft. Campbell. I use a Browning 4 Barrel set for .410 bore, 28, and 20 guage and a Remingtion 11-87 Primier for 12 guage which I have modified for recoil. Lately medical issues kinka limit me as far as recoil. Also have a Rotweil 650 Field gun. Seems like skeet and sporting clays have gone the way of bass fishing and some other professional sports. Too many stickers, patches, sponsors, anc commericialization from when I was shooting 15 years ago. I may go back and try my hand at it again. I would prefer to try a Krieghoff K-80 with a tube set if I started shooting again. They make a nice gun. I was very fortunate to get a personal tour of the Krieghoff factory from Dieter Krieghoff in Neu Ulm with a friend several years ago. It was amazing seeing all the work and craftsmanship that went into making a shotgun. I even did my own reloads for the 12 gauage. That was when you could buy reloading materials in Germany without a big hastle. I still have about 20,000 empty shell hulls down stairs. I think the reciept I used was something like 25 grains of SR7625, Winchester 209 primer, 1 1/8 oz. shot, and Windjammer wad in a Remington Blue Magic Hull. I use Winchester 3/4 oz. target loads now.

They are very much like some of the new cars. You have to do some unbolting to make room for the belts to go on. Nothing special to do and there are no secrets.

Well update -

So, the well was put in, the rig had returned to install an additional 100 feet + of casing after realignment with the original piece, then the plumber showed up to connect to the house/camp.

I awake to the sound of an excavator chewing up the newly refinished lawn area where the rig once stood. I take a walk over only to realize that the excavator has dug up almost the entire front yard. I thought he was merely digging a trench to secure the house water supply pipe to the pitless adapter, no way!

Come to find out, being so close to the existing leach / septic fields, the drill rig apparently crushed the septic system...now having to excavate and repair the damages.
One boat load of trap rock went into that yard that day!

The homeowner, you ask, where is he during all this?...
He still has not showed his face, as I'm sure that he is merely assessing every element of this fiasco, and getting his information inorder for one heck of a court battle!

Can't wait for the first cup of water that he offers!

The sales brochure shows a BX with a PHD and I own a Gearmore digger that works well on my BX.

I suspect the reason they do not show a rear blower on the BX is because they want to sell you their front mounted blower package.

Do you have access to a dealer?

This is one of those things like in the troubleshooting section of the manual for your TV, "Is it plugged in ?".

In this case, you DID check the fluid with the 3pth & loader (bucket circuit included) cylinders fully retracted, right ?

If the loader or 3pth was anything above full retracted position they would reduce the amount of fluid in the reservior (transmission) of the tractor. If it was refilled with any of the cylinders extended much it could cause the unit to be OVERFULL when they were retracted, in which case it could very well cause some fluid to 'burp' out the vent tube.

Would just having the water resevoir for fire crews to work with be worthwhile? Is there such a thing as exterior sprinkler systems for the roof? Seems like that would make sense. If such a system were employed, I'm wondering how long timewise it would need to pump water, and how much water it would need to put on the building? How long, once a fire reaches a property, does it take before the fire has typically burned past?

Any idea why I never see any mountain homes made from stucco? I'm a bit baffled as to why they're all wood siding. Does stucco freeze and crack or something? Does it wick snow water or something? Considering how much more resistent to fire it should be, I find it's lack to be very strange.

There isn't any brush anywhere on the property and the pine trees were removed to get rid of the usual build up of pine needles on the ground, but there are still other trees close to the house. How far should they be from the building?

It depends on the year and which of several different mods that you choose. Best to call TST or another dealer.My friends was a plug in program type super easy. Computer controlled are the easiest, mechanical pumps are more involved.

You might describe how the safety switches were checked. There have been problems with seat and fuel cut-off solenoids. Generally a wiring diagram is needed to test the switches unless somebody who knows the tractor is able to describe the connections exactly.
