Seen my shadow yesterday after not having seen it for weeks. But the rain started again last night and has not let up. My lower acre is now a pond, this keeps up and I'll be looking for ark plans.

The 375 Winchester is a fine and under-appreciated cartridge.

If it loaded to anywhere near its potential it will launch a 220 grain bullet as fast or faster than a 30-06

This is serious short to mid-range power. It is SAAMI rated at 50,000 CUP. One of the reasons it can go there is the specially drawn brass.

The 375 Win., like its granddaddy the 38-55, uses a straight walled 30-30 case. Actually I guess the 30-30 is a necked down 38-55 case.

Anyway, the 375 brass is much, much stronger than run of the mill 30-30 brass and has some interesting potential for "plus P" loads in 30-30 Ackley Improved chamberings and similar loadings in the 7-30 Waters.

I have done some limited experimentation in this area with my Ackley Improved cartridges and I discovered rather quickly that the brass is so much thicker that once it is necked down it needs its neck thinned to operate safely in standard 30-30 chambers. I suspect that would be true of 7-30 chambers too.

Anyway, my Marlin 375 was used when I bought it. I have run some practice rounds through it. Someday when life gets easier, I hope to hunt with it.

Two bullets of note for lever guns and handloaders are a 220 grain flat point which is, I think, made by Hornady especially for this caliber, and a 255 soft point made by Barnes. Either one should slap the dog turds out of a moderate to large sized bear at closer ranges and be more than adequate or deer, antelope and critters of that ilk, or in this case, elk.

For Contenders in this chambering there are published loads using 235 grain bullets designed for the 375 H&H.

I dont know how we got on this JD vs. Kubota things. All I want to know is if anyone has seen or bought a Grand L 4630 and how do they like it?<br>

I want enough HP to run a chipper/shredder; auger, and a lot of other items- the Kubota is my choice for tractor but I have not seen the 4630- has anyone??

TB, good for you. You already figured out how to compare models in an objective manner.

You assessment is correct, there is little to differentiate between the BX22 and a backhoe equipped B7500. There is a bit more ground clearance on the 7500 but I am not sure if even that disappears when it has the backhoe installed.

Maybe Art can address that aspect.

I have had my BX since last September and only one time did the ground clearance become a problem. I tried to drive over a pile of loose dirt (dropped by a dump truck) instead of around it and it high centered on the top of the pile.

It was stupid, but some guys like to test the limits. The fact that it got to the top of the pile will say something in the first place.

I later tried the same thing with my Deere 4100, which has more ground clearance than a B7500. It buried itself in the approach to the pile, and didn't make it to the top.

As Art pointed out, a lot of folks underestimate what can be done with a BX22, but none of them actually own one.

Ask those of us that actually use one. I will say this: the B7500 is not an upgrade to the BX22. If I felt the need to upgrade I would START with the B2710 and go up from there.

If you have a tractor, you have to have a pressure washer. Just like if you have a car you must have some sort of hydraulic jack. It is the natural order of things. P.S. I am still working on my pressure washer too.... it is coming this month. Then I can pretty up all those globby dirty grease fittings.<br>

On the 4100: My research shows it did not suffer the mechanical and steering maladies that plagued the rest of the line. It will make a fabulous mower for you and if anything will run even longer and more trouble free than what you have now.<br>

The tractor in question was the 4100 Gear and I was running in 3rd or 4th out of eight forward gears.

The whole scenario was like one of those trained seals rolling around on a big ball. The instant the drive wheel got done "digesting" the rock and came back to earth the whole process came to a screeching halt.

There was not time to even step on the brake, it just happened too fast. But I think I did take my foot off the gas pedal which just made the stop that much more abrupt.

The use of the diff-lock is a good idea.... on that tractor. On my BX it does not seem to want to stay engaged unless I hold the pedal down all the time.

congrats, another 790 owner. I agree the fell setup is well engineered it was a factor in my purchase.
as i said in my past post, I did not let two previous JD dealers discourage me , I did find a dealer that wanted to work with me with the machine I wanted !!!!

I recently took a trip over to see the maker of these Fuel Hauler's and if anyone is looking for a 150, 280, 500 or combo (dual tanks!) gallon gas or diesel fuel hauler- here it is.

I might consider a structure like our barn (see my pictures). If you use steel studs for the roof and stucco there is little to burn and the house is very well insulated. You could easily addapt the style to mission or Adobe if you wanted to stay with the south west style.

I use an engine (cherry picker) hoist to move that kind of thing around now. I recall the last time I attached mine, it was stored on my trailer prior to the barn being built. I lifted it out with the loader and wrestled with it for quite some time. It now sits on blocks in the corner of my barn, but I have an old four wheeled outboard engine stand I have been eyeballing for possible conversion.

Reversing wheels works unless the rim is attached to the wheel at its centre. I haven't heard of warranty issues for reversing the rear wheels but checking with a dealer would be good. I don't think reversing the fronts is very common and there may be mechanical issues. It's sort of questionable how much a wider stance on the front would improve the stability of a 4WD tractor since most 4wd axles pivot.

In reversing wheels, swapping sides is the more common method for directional tires such as ags. Swapping sides may put the valve stems on the inside it keeps the high traction direction on the forward gears. A loaded tire may weight more than you want to wrestle with.

Have you considered monthy payments instead of overall cost? Both John Deere and Kubota have 0% financing for up to 3 years and 2.9% for 5 years. Thats what I did and now I got the perfect tractor for my situation, however I would not leave it outside(no way). I must say that I was greatly helped out in my choice by the folks at this site. Good luck with your search.

I was on the snow removal team at the local hospital and we used it to melt ice & snow in sensative areas where salt would kill everything. Come spring the grass grew like crazy. That was about all us city boys new about it.
