Just in case anyone was interested I changed out the oil in my MMM gearbox with a Pella Suction Oil Changer that I use on my boat engine. It worked like a charm. I pulled out 12 onces of the original oil and replaced it with Amsoil Series 2000 75W-90. Sure beat removing the mower and gearbox! Makes it easy to replace the oil alot more frequently.

Wanted to get back to you on how things turned out with the Pella Oil suction changer. It worked like a piece of cake. I pulled about 12 onces of oil out of the plug hole which seemed to be pretty much most of the oil and I used one of those hand pumps you screw on the oil bottle in place of the cap. Sure beat removing the MMM and the gearbox!

And actually those gauges would need to be Omega Seamasters not Rolex. Just Watched the new Bond. A GREAT flick, one of the best.

I would suggest the 990 or 790 from John Deere if you want a good dependable, and straight forward gear shift 2WD tractor. If you plan to mount a FEL, I think you are making a huge mistake not getting 4WD. There will be sizable percentage of weight will be on the front axle with the FEL and this will severely hamper rear wheel traction without huge amounts of ballast weight, not to mention severely poor performance and traction on slopes. (speaking from experience, that is why I have MFWD tractor now) Just my opinion and 2 cents worth. Good luck on your decission.

Any subcomponent like the crank or a rod that has been subject to violent sudden stoppage is suspect and I would strongly recommend having them checked. Very cheap insurance.

The TC29 is going to be discontinued by the end of the year. I would rather have the TC33 in your circumstances. If you have a lot of tight areas, you might want to look at Super Steer. I still use a lawn tractor, lawn mower and high wheel trimmer along with my tractor. I purposely gave up the mowing aspect for other capabilities like bush hogging and FEL work.

Does the mmm need to be removed when using other than mowing? ie does it get in the way?

The parent company that Eicher India originally came from were very well known for air cooled engines,and dependable tractors of their own design.

As for the Euro 6100 series from Eicher. It is a licensed copy of the Valmet 365,and does come in mfd along with twd. I've not had a chance to see the Eicher copy yet,but the original is one heck of an economy level utility tractor !! Very well engineered and dependable,as are all the Valmet,and now Valtra tractor offerings.

F350Lawman-I was trying to be impartial on my post,welcome to the 790 club. The two plugs on top of the right fender come out easily so you can bolt on a wal-mart cup holder without drilling holes.

Owned a 4210 less then 50 hrs would not move.Dealer exchanged for new unit.1 hr later same thing.Returned machine. Saw dealer a month later, he said the problem was a sensor on the flywheel. Hope this helps

The Landtrac 330 HST sure looks like a nice little tractor. Exactly, what I am looking for. Has anyone used it. Does anyone know the list price. What should a person expect to pay for this tractor new. What kind of a re-sale value does a Landtrac have. I would rather pay the difference for a NH if the Landtrac doesn't have a decent resale value.

My Dad has big horsepower Long Tractors on the farm and he swears by them. He thinks the are great. The reason he has them is because he was able to buy them inexpensively used. Do the smaller Landtrac's depreciate as quickly.

Ruger, thats more like the noise I hear. I now have 40hrs on the tractor and the noise has been since new. Will soon bring it in for the first oil change and inquire if this is normal.

Chief The oils used are part number LVA10419 and LVA11522. Filters and screen are m806419,t111383 and ty6389. You tell me what oil. I think its the every day oil. The total cost with labor was just over $200 . Ihad them do it for reasons I posted before and the fact I have no time to do it.

the EZ seems to have no effect on the trans at all. I have never felt any slip or shudder. I use the Shell Rotella fuel additive. Cummins seems to run quieter when I use it.

These three subcompacts all look like great little machines. What is your take(s) on them? Does anyone have any experience with the Massey? I only sat on one and it seems very solid, well built. Can they handle standard 3 point implements? Box scraper, snow blade, 5 ft rear finish mowers? Thanks.

17mm, right hand thread. Use a 6 point socket or wrench. 11/16 is too loose. I would think 30 - 35 ft./lbs. torque would be about right but you may want to look that one up or ask the dealer. That is the torque spec for the oil plug on my Cummins which is about the same sizeI just changed my oil yesterday on my 4410. Has the same plug I believe. Recommend a 1/2 inch drive socket. The clowns at the dealer probably put the plub back in with an impact wrench.

I cant even imagine paying shippings costs on some thinks in Alaska. I know what I spent shipping mounts and meat back and I would be embarrased to confess to the actual dollars. The trip was worth every penny though. I cant wait to go again.

I had a similiar problem with bats, and faced the same expensive remediation costs of about $1500 to stuff some material all around the edge of my house.

Well I was talking to a painter and warned him about the bats. He said that when they powerwash the house with house chemicals the bats are ususally casualties, and are gone while they paint.

Since I was not ready to hire the painter, but the wife was bugging the heck out of me on the bats I came up with a low cost alternative.

So, here is what I did. I took a garden hose and attached it to a 25 foot pole, I put a high pressure nozzle ($3 bucks) on the end. I emptied the hose, got a funnel, and then poured Clorox into a 50 foot length. Put on safety goggles, hosted up my contraption, aimed, turned on the water valve, fired, on the gable, 30-40 bats came flying out.

Have not seen them since !

Ok, I started this thread so its about time I updated it... I've kept 7 baby food jars of moth balls under the hood of my 4300 for the past month. So far it seems to be working very well. Or it could be the baby rattle snake I found next to the tractor last weekend... but I doubt it. I'm also using mothballs under the hood of my pickup truck that I keep at my place with my tractor. I haven't found anything better than mothballs so far. But I am getting just a bit tired of the old joke about how I got the moth's legs apart... my wife keeps asking... she needs to get out more...
