I have many tasks at hand. I have 40 acres of CRP that need mowing, I have a 15 acre feild that I would like to put into hay and I have a couple of 3 acre food plots I would like to take care of. I will double check with the price. His quote only says HST, Loader, Joy Stick control. It does not include quick attach bucket or kit, or any remote hydraulics. I also have a detailed quote on a 4330 for 23,452. It includes 4 postion valve, Quick attach bucket and coupler, float detent valve section and 1stlever and base kit(whatever that is) for 23,452.

My dealer was perfectly up front about this as well. I cant believe any brand is any different. Just pay attention to that first service interval and change the fluids/filters as recommended.

I used to clean oil spots off of concrete all the time with solvents and followed that up with my pressure washer using a degreaser chemical. You could hardly tell the spot ever was there.

I used a variety of solvents over the years, but I would start with denatured alcohol from the paint store. It washes away with the pressure washer without polluting anything.

If you can afford it go with the TC45D, I have a TC40D and love the tractor, but if you have any hills to go up and down the extra 5hp would be nice. I find I have to be in low range and back off on the hydro quite a bit when mowing up hill. the 40 and 45 are both the same frame size, just different HP. I aloso don't think you can get a mid PTO with the TC45D, but not sure if that is still the case. I know when I bought mine (2 yrs ago) the mid-PTO wasnt an option on the TC45D. But the tractor size is fine for the work you are wanting to do.

The 4630 is a good tractor but it is Kubota's attempt to make a John Deere 4710. I would suggest you test both out and go with the one you like best. Price will be pretty even here.

The only reason to disconnect the FEL would be to remove it entirely from the tractor.

The MMM should have no direct hydraulic connections.

I have an F2400 that has about 4,000 hours on it. I believe it was overheated once or twice before I got it, because it always was a little hard to start. Plus, once started, the crankcase vent would blow out white smoke. Anyway, it gradually became harder and harder to start until it would no longer start at all.
I missed the chance to buy a used D1105 as a replacement engine, so I figure I might as well have this one rebuilt. Does anyone have any idea what a good price to rebuild this engine would be? I'd like to have an idea before I go talk to the local dealer. I have plenty of engine building experience, so I was going to just tear it down and get the new rings, bearings, etc.... and do it myself, but I don't really have the time.
Or, if anyone knows a source for used engines in the mid-Atlantic area, I might go that route too.

I go and get hay every 2 weeks or so for me and my neighbors horses. The dairy farmer and I have become friendly. He has several big Deere tractors and usually is riding with his deere cap on.

I told him the first thing I am going to do is put my cap on and ride my lil' Deere over. Then I'll pull up alongside his big machine and it's gonna look like Mini-me from Austin Powers...

On the serious side the farmer has given me plenty of good advice and I already half joked about being a city boy needing driving lessons for my new toy:)

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the C. of G. point of a dozer, they are designed to be as equally balanced across the entire length of the tracks as possible so as to maximize BOTH floatation and traction.

As for back-flips, I don't think I would be surprised at all, as a ninth generation farmer I know all too well how easy it happens, and as an PE I know why it happens. It is a result of the rotating tractive force exceeding the dead weight of the tractor forward of the fulcrum. When you put a tractor on a hill you shift the balance point, you also change the traction, dramatically. However since a 'standard' 4wd CUT should have a basic weight distribution of 55% of the weight on the front wheels and 45% on the back wheels, and correct ballasting should restore this after a FEL is added for example, then you have to be on a pretty severe slope before you overcome all that extra weight up front.

Of course, safety first, if in doubt, DON'T !!!

Right on chainsaws, 2 cycle is the biggest factor in noise. So why worry about how much extra noise it makes if air cooled? The point is that air cooled engines are louder than water cooled, thus more tiring to operate. I don't need earmuffs while operating my Honda lawn tractor. My neighbor uses them on his MTD and NEEDS them. With a simple fan replacing a radiator, hoses, waterpump and thermostat and simpler engine castings that do not require internal passages I would wonder why air cooled is as or more expensive??
I think it's pretty easy to disengage 4WD when mowing. If you do get in a spot where you need it, it will be less destructive to engage it than try and spin out in 2WD. Why use 4WD on a golf course?? That's not an application where it's needed. I was personally very surprised how easy it was to spin the rear tires on my tractor in 2WD when the right front tire went in a deep rut. A flick of the lever got me right out, but tractors have no suspensions so the rear unloaded very easily.
