For the quality of the product and the price,,I couldnt beat the price of "First Choice" rear discharge mower,,,,it does a pretty job and was also about $500.00 cheaper than anyone else,,I got it in Newton,NC from "OK tractors.com"

Plots, I have to disagree with you on this one. There are lots of valid reasons for getting off the tractor with a PTO running, although operating a hay baler may not be a very good example of that. PTO Generators, Feed grinders and a host of other pieces of equipment use the tractor as a stationary power unit.

In my opinion, the safety rule that was seriously violated here is one regarding loose clothing and hair. Tom's story was a second example. Clothing and hair that are confined close to the body rarely get caught in the moving works.

I have spent a lot of time around metal machining operations and have often had to wear a necktie for my jobs. There are safety procedures that become second nature to you, provided you survive your first close call or see someone else violate the rules and get hurt. (Being told has little impact on some of us.) I have personally seen catastophic amputations and other serious injuries and I cannot remember a single one that was just dumb luck. All were avoidable even in situations involving overhead lifting and open moving machinery.

You should be OK. Situations vary and the specs coming from the manufacturer have to consider a margin of safety to allow for various implements attached to the tractor. Front end loaders are some of the most handy implements to own but also the most dangerous with respect to tipping and raising the center of gravity. Rough surfaces are harder to traverse than smooth ones. Lugged tires are better on some surfaces and turf tires are better on others. You get the idea...

If you have any doubts, that is the first safety mechanism of common sense kicking in. The safe play is to drive up and down slopes for those doubtful situations. I grew up on a farm and was driving tractors well before I could be licensed to drive a car. Experience is the best teacher, but you have to use your common sense and instincts as well. It may be too late to learn an experience lesson if you are traversing a serious slope and drop the rear wheel in a big hole.

Years ago I sold farm equipment. At that time, the worry was with tricycle gear tractors -vs- wide front ends. I believe that wide front tractors, like all compact tractors that I have seen of recent manufacture, are some of the most stable tractors ever made.

Now, I live in a rugged desert area. I routinely go up and down steep grades with 4WD. I have never measured the angle, but the slopes are difficult to even stand on. I would not even consider traversing those same slopes with the tractor for a second.

I would like to trade my R1 tires on my 2000 Kubota L3010 for a set of R4 tires for a Kubota L3010. My tires have about 160 hours on them. I haven't had the tractor long, but I am not aware of any plugs or patches in them. I am currently still running the R1 tires with no problems. They are in good shape and have many hours left on them.

Yes, that is the setting that I would use. I have heard that some of the old timer plowed without the sta-bars hookup, but our compact tractors have shorter lift arms relative to the tire size. That is one of the reasons, I think that the lift arms hit more on our compacts.

The only time that I don't use my stabilizers is when I have my backhoe on.

I had an LX188 do the same thing to me 2 years ago. Mine was a 1998 model. It cranked fine, had good spark, but wouldn't fire. What it turned out to be is the camshaft gear on this engine is plastic and is riveted to the camshaft. Well, the gear had broken off. When I took it to the dealer, they knew right away what it was and replaced it with a forged camshaft/gear combo. They even did it for no cost even though it was 3 years old already. They said all LX188's built with that plastic gear will have that happen to them at some point. I don't know when the change was made in the engine to the new camshaft. Hope this helps.

You are correct, for field work/tillage heavier is better with all other things being equal. I do not have any personal hands on experience on the Mahindra tractors, but have heard good things about them. I have an IH 2444 40 HP PTO, same basic chassis I think but one step down in HP. This should be a good tractor, but at 35 hp is sort of an entry level for some of the work you described. If you get into any serious tillage, baleing and stuff like that I would go up at least 10 HP or so.

I am assuming you have a dealer nearby and can check out out what you are buying. My only concern about these series of tractors might be the brakes. I see they are dry disc, same as my IH2444. Mine are a bit weak as I understand that all of this IH series is, not bad just not the greatest brakes in the world. Mahindra might have made them better than the IH they copied though.

What did you not like about the Kioti DK tractors ? They seem to be good tractors and heavier than most of their comparable competition.

I have the Vermont Castings Defiant it is my only heat sorce. Had it since I built my house. I have pushed at least 35 cord maybe more through it in the last 5 years. Yearly cleanings were all it needed still has the original catalyst. However it is time now for new gaskets. The glass doors do get sooty(black) when I run it at cooler temps(550d)and I only do this at the beginning and end of the burning season all winter it runs at 700d. When running at 700d the soot turns into a white ash that easily comes off with windex. My house is an open design with cieling vaults to the second floor which permits me to run at 700d without over heating any one room. These are all griddle temps.

I have a 2000 tc45 and mine makes more of a clicking sound by the hyd. filter and starter also. My tractor has almost a 1000 hours on it. It comes and goes when I am going down the road. It seems to be somewhat intermittent. I always thought it was the two solid lines but I checked them and it is not that. It has done it since I bought it and the dealer said it was normal.

The TC30 is what got me into looking at tractors at my NH dealer. That is what it is intended to do. It is a very capable tractor at a good price. But, when you get to the dealer, you start looking at all the other models to. After my initial visit, I found that I wanted a larger model with some of the updated features but I still bought NH.

I keep vehicles and equipment for a long time and maintain them well. With that in mind, I generally go for a more upgraded unit and some of the extra features that make long term ownership more pleasurable.

I bought a 2210 thanks in part to all the favorable comments here. Prices run higher in the Northeast; I talked to 3 dealers, all were within $600, the best was $13,450 (after $400 attachment rebates) for the tractor, FEL and 62� deck plus another $2,475 for 47� snow blower. For comparison, the best local price I found for a Kubota BX2200 with FEL and 60�deck was $13,700.
Availability seems to be an issue everywhere�of the 3 dealers I visited, only one had a tractor in stock and it was sold. Luckily, mine should arrive in a couple of days because my dealer located a tractor and negotiated a trade with a 4th dealer, otherwise early-July.
