Have you changed the fuel filter and bled the injectors ? Not sure of the procedure on this model.

If you are somewhat handy, it's very simple. I suggest looking a one "in person" and there you will see it's simple. I assume you have the DSCV on your machine?

I'm shopping for a tractor in the JD4410/TC33D class and need to choose which implements to buy. One use for the tractor will be to pile up slash that will be created when thinning our heavily overgrown 15 acres of douglas firs. What's the best implement for doing this kind of work? I'm thinking of something like a front blade that will float just above the surface of the soil - is there anything like that made?

Thanks for the replies. He also got a 72" MMM and thinks he can leave it on when he is digging leveling ect.. I think ground clearance will be an issue, and he could damage the mower again any thoughts would be appreciated.

Now Murf, it's not suppose to be that simple. It's not the way I do it, so it has to be wrong.

Just kiddin, sounds pretty simple. Myself, I just press the end of the culprit hose against the tractor frame.

Besides, once I bend over to hook the hoses up, I need to conserve every breathe ;)

Welcome to a lawsuit-loving society friend.

I bought myself a new Kubota 4310 HSTC this spring and discovered the same thing, it only goes backwards at a little under 80% of the forward speed compared to a shuttle shift transmission which merely reverses the direction of the forward gear and so doesn't affect travel speed, just direction.

The Kuboata dealer (a good friend of mine) told me that the the future models will have even less reverse speed and very likely a lot less forward speed. A factory rep. told him that future 'hobby' tractors will have a top speed of only 8 mph in the near future. They feel that if they keep the speed down, less people will get hurt, resulting in fewer lawsuits.

Maybe they should just have potential buyers take an IQ test before determing what they are ALLOWED to buy and leave the rest of us alone.

Around here a lot of the Hobby Farmers, and the commercial horse farm operators, use the old 'share-cropping' method. There is usually a farmer around willing to do the heavy part of haying, baling, in exchange for a 'share' of the yeild.

Your Deere is enough machine to do most of the work including stacking the bales a drawing the wagon, just don't overload it. If you get your neighbour to bale in exchange for some of the hay you're laughing, let someone else gat the depresiation on the baler and spend you money on other toys, err, ummm, I mean implements. Even if they won't do it for hay, they usually will do it for cash, then all you have to do is sell enough of the hay to cover the bill.

Jeff, no wonder the oil is black, GM diesels were affectionately known as "Oshawa Oil-Burners" (after the name of the town where the GM factory was) for a long time, until they became Isuzu's.

Personally I think your trying to solve the problem the wrong way.

First of all, one of your guess-timates is off, 50' x 200' is 10,000 square feet, not 4,000. This makes a big difference in how much work you might have ahead of you.

Other than that, terraces have their own unique problems, and you may just be swapping one set of problems for another. If you have 50' of 12% grade for example, that is a 6' vertical drop over 50' of horizontal distance. If you use 4 drops (for easy math) it equates to 4 individual drops of 18". These will require either something to hold the soil back, or it will eventually slump downhill, or that they be graded to a maximum of 3:1 slope, or in other words, that an 18" slope be done over a 54" distance horizontally. Do this 4 times and you still have 216" (or 18 feet) of slope to deal with, and now they are even steeper than before, and so skinny that they are tough to maintain.

My suggestion to you would be to put a lot of dirt at the bottom of the slope (or take some from the top and move it down to the bottom), lengthening the horizontal distance of the 6' height difference, and reduce the overall slope to a more comfortable 5 or 6 degrees.

Nevermind all, I got it free last night. A little tap on the back with a hammer and out she came. Just get a bit nervous forcing internal engine parts i guess. Sure I hope I got it timed right now !

Art, speaking of the pivot on the pedal, mine is real hard to force the grease into.

I checked the zerk and it is open. Came to the conclusion that there are REAL tight tolerances in there.

Anything else I should do?

The pins on my rear blade are 34 inches and the BX will handle that.

Smaller is better on this machine. Spreading the arms wider pulls them closer to the rear tires.

I searched for my doc's on these babies, but haven't found quite what I'm looking for ...yet - when I do, I'll send it your way.

In the mean time, I want to say that it is either a Chinese, Korean or Italian made tiller. Caroni makes a tiller, as well as the brand that (curse,curse) Kioti puts in their package deals. I believe that that is a Rhino brand, either Chinese or Korean made. I have not seen many tillers with tines of this character, most are righthand and lefthand "L" configurations.
Now that I've taken you around the world, I'll keep searching my files.
