I agree with what Tom says but would add that generally you will not save very much of the $500 on a job that is done will with high quality parts and it will generally not look as good as the factory kit.

Anybody install their own septic system?? I have a set of approved plans and permit for a standard septic w/20' X 45' leach field and 1000 gal concrete tank. It doesn't look all that difficult to do yourself. Looks like the labor to install one of these is around 2 grand here. Tank, pipes, stone, and distribution box will run another $1,500 and the company will set the tank for free. It doesn't look all that tough, but you never know. Anybody actually install one??? thanks........

Just read your rock removal bit...with a little cash you don't have to "pry them" in the fel. Being a 1st time tractor owner altogether, I guess I got lucky on my (spur of the moment) B7200 purchase. I have many large rocks and stumps I'm dealing with. I use my Woods backhoe to get 'em loose and above ground then use a grapple (that I had installed on the FEL) to grab 'em and tote away. Works great and far less expensive than the clamshell FEL arrangement I was considering (thanks to good advice from my dealer). Anyhow, can't say enough about the grapple. For a novice like me, sometimes operating the FEL effectively is hard; the grapple will close down on and literally pull dirt, stumps, rocks, etc right into the bucket for me...no need to try and finesse with speed and lift coordination.
My 2 cents...great board by the way, am learning a great deal. Richard

Thanks for the info. I have contacted a number of dealers and was told that it would be a special order and would take a few months to get. They suggested that I try to located one that maybe a new owner of a BX would want to sell if they are not using it. I will be driving the tractor through the woods and figure that the grate would help protect the front lights. Mark, if you know of one available, please let me know.

I agree with both DePratt and Mark. To be a dealer you have to be open minded. I don't mind doing warranty work. BUT it does bother you when someone 30 miles away calls and says they are getting ready to buy a KIOTI and they would like to know if I'll service it for them if they have a problem. BTW this customer has NEVER called me before. It can get rather disheartening. But as a dealer you have to suck it up and go on. Not all dealers are money-grubbing dirt bags. I've had customers say things to me that they wouldn't say to their worst enemy but because I'm a dealer I'm just supposed to let it roll off and be happy when the guy comes back wanting service parts for his KIOTI, which of course he would like a discount on because he MIGHT buy a rotary cutter.
People who have never been in business for themselves have no ideas what it is like.

I own a 4100 HST with the JD 261 rear-mount mower and mow
2 acres of grass with it. The rear acre of grass is pretty
nasty stuff that grows very quickly and sometimes reaches
the floorboards of my tractor. The tractor handles it no problem. I could not be happier and feel that this tractor
mower combination is a perfect match. It will even mow rocks ;-)

I have not heard of this frame difference on these two models
(i.e. the 4100 vs. 4110). Has anyone heard of this ? I hardly think that the 4100 is a large lawn tractor. If the 4110 can do it, the 4100 can do the same exact things. These tractors are 99 % the same.

I own a 4100 HST with 261 rear-mower and love it ! I own
2 acres and would not own a tractor smaller than this one.
I owned a smaller class tractor, which was actually the
largest Sears tractor they make and had to return it, as my
land almost killed the thing ! I am aware the 2210 is more
tractor than a Sears, but given you have 6 acres, I think
the slighly heavier tractor with the extra weight lifting capacity on the 3 point hitch would be a benefit. BTW, I am a big fan of rear-mount mowers, as they are way easier to work on. I have owned both and would never again own a MMM. I like to be able to back the mower over rough spots without having to be wacked by limbs in the process ;-) Best of luck on your choice.

I scanned the engine section my 1710 Parts Manual. There are a few, but very few, references to NA only parts or Asia or European models. There also are a few references to parts before or after a production change date in '85. As far as I know the NH repair and parts manuals are still available and contain more detail than the I&T manuals, but that might be important only if you were planning to do major repair work yourself.

For the most part, it looks pretty good, and it sounds like you've got a dealer and parts guy who can did out any differences should the need arise. I would expect there'd be some differences if an engine over-haul would be required. I also noticed one reference to conversion to U.S. thread but maybe that wasn't even on the engine. I really don't know if thread conversion meant conversion to SAE inches or from Japanese to US metric. The possibility of different thread standards might be something to keep in mind.

I believe the temp sensor is considered an electrical system rather than an engine part. If so, there's the possibility a fair bit of the electrical system may cross as well, which sounds even better.

Getting into the commercial end a B-21 might give you a lot more power for digging and might be a little smaller do to the B-hoe size.

I have a 5'box blade. I haven't used it heavily yet, but I have no problems with the larger BB.

I love my 2210. The only thing that I've had a problem with is the deck and FEL. The FEL takes a couple of times attaching/detaching before you get comfortable/quick doing so. The first time I detached it, it was a pain to get back on, but that was my fault. The second time it went on with no problems.
The deck wasn't set up quite right (on the height adjustment) when I got it, but I've got that fixed now. After taking care of those two things, I have NO problems whatsoever, except for it's rained too much here and I haven't gotten enough seat time :)

I don't know if there are dips in the grade that need to be filled or if the idea is just to smooth loose surface stone. The last load of pit run I put on the drive had more stone in it than I'd like so parts of the drive still have loose surface stone on it. Smoothing it and having it stay that way is difficult if you don't have access to the equipment Murf described.

For surface smoothing, I have pretty good luck back-dragging a fairly flat loader bucket in float if you haven't tried that already. My box scraper rolled back on its rear cutter also does a pretty good job.

I haven't resorted to making a drag myself, but that might be an alternative. For light surface smoothing, chain-link fencing between two 2x4's or 4x4's would be pretty good. If some moving of material and filling dips is needed, chain-link fencing wrapped around a length of heavier timber would pick up material ahead of it and deposit it in dips provided the timber is longer than the dips. If dips are the full width of a drive, the drag could be angled slightly although the leading end may dig in a bit.

In general, many switches in this type of application have elongated mounting holes so the switch body can be set closer to an actuating lever if it's not closing. I don't know about this particular switch. If were designed like that, mounting screws could be loosened, the switch body pushed toward the linkage and the screws tightened again.

If I were adding a spacer, I'd likely use a feeler gauge if possible to find a minimum thickness that would make the switch close. Too thick a spacer may damage the switch or disable the safety feature.

The last prices I saw were about $850 for the 54" manual angle and $1000 more for the 60" hydraulic angle blade.
That assumes you already have a loader and the controls installed.
