I replaced the deck on a 16' trailer that I had. It had the same channels on the ends that you describe. I worked from the outside in, both sides. Most of the boards just slid in. When I got to the middle 2 I fit one end in the channel, the other end under and jacked up the middle of the board until the end snapped into place. Might be harder to do that with the shorter board length though.

Reading your posts about the things that you have been trying to do (removing scrub stumps) it seems to me that there is an aweful big difference between what you have been doing and what the L48 offers. As I understand it, that is one very serious machine. I have seen some very impressive posts here with pictures of huge stumps that the L48 removed (granted with a bit of time) and trees that it carried. On other posts I was just reading folks were raving about the power : size of thier BX22s. I have an L35 and find that there is little that I have not been able to accomplish. I have a couple of 13" maple stumps under my belt at less than an hour each.

Of course I wouldn't be the first to say that you can't have too much power so if the $ aren't an issue and the size is not a problem, I couldn't think of a reason to not go with the L48.

Just wanted to lend some perspective.

BTW try EquipmentTraderOnline. You will find some very good deals in the low $30k range.

Tim- You might be on to something. There must be two different types of draft control. My tractor has hyd. top link and a five position load and depth control. The mount on the tractor where the top link attaches is rigid- I don't see the big spring that I remember on the old Fords.

Yes, a tandem axle trailer that is configured with twin 3500 lb axles should do the trick fine. If you're shopping, whether new or used, the trick is not to get stuck with a landscape trailer. These are generally made of angle iron, utilizing considerably lighter weight(gage) materials throughout. Look for a box tube frame trailer, that has tandem axles, usually with 15in wheels and tires. As Mark pointed out, and I certainly agree, ramps are the way to go. Stay away from the gates if at all possible, for strength as well as for drag.
I carry my equipment on a 16ft tandem,(overall about 20ft), 3500lb axles with 5k spring sets on each side of the axles for stability, using old aluminum auto transport ramps that I found at a tag sale for $100.

Dont plan on that happening again, just had to get it back to the garage for a fill up on oil, didnt realize it was low, as the problem didnt occur till going up a hill, Havent had a chance to check for further leaks yet as its been rainy and cold. will let you know what I see.

I was just quoted a price for a B2910 and was wondering if it was a good buy: B2910 with 402 60" loader w/3 hooks, 60"mmm, engine heater, loaded titan turf tires for $18200. I had posted previously about the B7800 but went with the upscale modle.

check out wix's web site. They list the following filters for the TC-33D. Air Filter part # 42985, Secondary Air Filter part # 46438, Fuel Filter part # 33264, Hyd. Filter part # 57098, Oil Filter part# 51056. They dont list one of the Hydro filters , and I have not been able to cross it at from other suppliers either. I gaurantee you these filters are a lot less expensive than the New Holland ones'. Good Luck. BUSBOY.

If you want a basic well built reliable tractor with little to no bells and whistles, I would suggest the John Deere 990. 40 HP, straight gear shift tractor. If you want a more versatile tractor with all the bells and whistles, I would suggest the John Deere 4710. 48 HP, optional ehydro, electronic MFWD engage, can be equipped with mid mounted PTO. The 4610 would meet your needs as well being a few HP less (44 HP) and alot less $$$. I think you will find that John Deere tractors hold the highest resale value of any tractor on the market. Check out the compact tractor section of John Deere's web site and compare. You can also compare the John Deere against other major brands and models there too. I own a 4410 with a 430 loader, and 72" MMM. I and VERY happy with this tractor and it does everything I ask of it. The ehydro is SO MUCH more user friendly and time saving to drive. I would suggest that you narrow down the models you are interested in and go to the dealer and test drive and operate them. You should also take into consideration which dealer is the most customer oriented and willing to go the extra mile for tech support and assistance. This is a BIG plus. I can tell you from personal experience that the 4710 is a great tractor. I recently procured 15 of them for the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). The soldiers love these tractors! We use them to tow helicopters on the flight line which weigh up to 50,000 lbs. These tractors do it without any problem. These tractors are now in Iraq and I have yet to hear of one complaint or break down. The only money I have spent on them was about $2500 in maintenance up keep parts such as filters and such. (very dusty and dirty over there and filters clog up fast) These tractors are run exclusively on JP-8 which most other makes will not even warranty use of. John Deere sent us a Government Sales/Support Rep to meet with us and has helped us with any issues we had to include training the soldiers on the use and maintenance of the tractors. No other manufacturer was willing to do that. Good luck on your decision!

I don't know if tillers with offsets are available but an offset might solve the width/power issue. Ground speed may be an unavoidable problem. I was surprised to learn that a mystery lever on a Yanmar was a creeper, and creepers are standard features on some models Yanmars. Apparently ground is worked almost exclusively by tillers in Japan. Creepers are considered almost essential because of the very low ground speeds they provide. I could use something slower than my lowest reverse at .8 mph at pto rpm when blowing deep snowfalls. I imagine something slower would be good for a tiller if I had one but creepers were an option for my Ford. I imagine my ford 1710's lowest reverse is slower than the 8's are.

I like to sell as small of a tractor I can with the largest deck affordable. By having the width of the tractor nearly as wide as the cut it means that all trim work would have to be done with another unit.
