Does anyone have any experience with Farm Star brand implements...looking at one of their 72" finish mowers but wondering if its made in USA or a chinese import with a sticker on it!!...their website is kind of vague on the Finish Mower origins...Thanks

Heck, if it works you could also put a price on things like custom fonts, text colours..... the sky's the limit.

I have an 855. Excellent tractors. No HP problem with up to 6ft mower deck.
For FEL work, 4wd is essential! Even with nothing in the bucket, but the loader installed, I need 4wd to back up any kind of slope(no rear weight) I add rear weight, and I'm fine without load, but no traction with a load in the bucket.
FEL = 4wd. You would be unhappy any other way.

I can sell my tractor for more than I bought it for 5 years ago. Look after it and resale will be good.

I am also looking to buy a compact tractor in this approximate price range and am looking mostly at the B6XXX and B7XXX models. My research (at least for the PNW) has shown that most go for the $6-8K range for a tractor with 800-1100 hours and an FEL. Maybe I've been shopping in the wrong places (dealers, newspaper, web) but if I could find that rig here, I'd probably buy it that day!

Thanks you guys for all the input.. While I have a 100 acres 65 of it is forest. The remaining fields would be hayed, and bush hogged. I use a 20HP craftsman for mowing and it takes me about 3 hours to mow the entire lawn area. Addly enough, this is something I truely enjoy doing so a bigger tractor may take less time, but I would be putting house on it that be unneeded. As for the money making part, I have a coworker that has a 17 Kubota BX series, and he is busy all the time doing side jobs with it.. Year round! I originally started looking at the 4100 as it was roughly the same size as the BX, but for the same money I could get the 790, a big jump in HP for the same money. A bigger tractor would mean a bigger payment, and again may scare away some people thinking the cost would be too high, and not bother with me... "PETERS" resopnded that I may find a good deal in the NH TC30, and I am looking at them right now.. It looks like the price would be very close, and the options are: "Some beter, some worse". So, it might come down to Dealer Service and location.. If that is the case, then it will be Green..

I have a Kubota B8200 with quick disconnect loader and 5 ft box scraper. It's a 4x4 with manual sterring and shifting. 9 speeds forward and 3 reverse. Only 340 original hrs and runs great. I'm upgrading to a newer tractor and would like to get $6,300 for it. I'm locate 30 miles south of Milwaukee, WI.

I have a TC45 4WD New Holland and I love it. It is the same frame size as the 40HP NH. I use R4 tires which would be a good choice for your landscape business, unless you drive on grass a lot. Turf tires might be better in that case. I live at high altitude, and my 45HP engine will only develop about 38HP, so my performance will be very much like the TC40 that you are considering.

I grew up on a farm with JD equipment and I still like it, but where I live, it was much more expensive than the NH. I am fully satisfied with the NH Boomer.

I also have the 16LA loader and the 758C backhoe. All are good pieces of equipment. If you get SS, you will need to consider the 17LA loader which provides more clearance for the axle movement.

It varies like anywhere else, most other 4' bush hogs are going for $465.00-$550.00 new. But why spend that if I can find a good, cheap used one. Where are you located?

I would agree with Art's comment, on one hand it is convenient to have the 'preset' on the hand throttle, on the other hand, the extra rev's might come in handy when doing heavy grass cutting for instance.

I would leave it alone and just use the foot throttle for the extra 'kick' when you need it.

Tom, I forgot to mention, some people (us included) spring load the rear blade so that you have to compress the spring (a pair of simple coil springs on the hinge) in order to get the rear blade to tilt. This is a real time saver doing topsoil or screenings work since the spring tension gives you a little compaction, but more importantly, breaks up most of the clumps that would normally be left behind on the surface.

I just sold my 2135 last week for 4650...very good condition and everything working perfectly. Don't buy without making sure it all works...they can be expensive to open up. I had mine for 10 years with very few problems, however, I found it too big for some jobs. I am heading toward the JD2210 or BX2200. $3000 for an unknown condition tractor could turn into 6000 with repairs.

CCM MR160 tiller Is Gear driven, Kubota Orange and heavier built than both the LP or KK. At $945 NEW it's a much better value.

Well I called the fuel dealer and he came over checked the fuel and said there's no water in it and it tested fine !
The NH dealer picked it up and I said you might as well put a block heater in it do a 50 hour service fix a hydraulic leak install hydraulic remotes and sell me a bush hog !
Wow I'm hoping he'll not charge me a float fee after all that!
Anyway the mechanic said it's full of water!
So now the question is how did it get full of water?
I believe that the water entered the drum from the top through the hand pump !
Perhaps it wasn't put on tight enough !
So can I expest any compensation from the fuel dealer ?

Jack, your top cover can be removed with just four bolts and you can look down on the transmission easily and see where the leaks are if they are on the top. There is also one line on the bottom that often is the culprit and it might need a little tightening or the be replaced. The filters have leaked from time to time.

There are to many things going on with your tractor to make a good try at fixing it at this point. A service tech might be able to get you a little further. You could change parts some more and not get to much further and spend a lot of money. I would find someone that knows the machines well enough to do the whole job, not just change a few parts with there fingers crossed. I have several out and they are a good machine.

Pretty sure that it's one of the Chinese Jinmas. They sell under a number of different names. Between excessive depreciation and repairs I personally think they are false economy. You sound like a perfect candidate for a Korean tractor. Kioti, Mahindra or Century-Branson twins. I ended up with a Century 3045. It has the same (48 HP Yanmar four) engine as a John Deere 4710 and was $7000 less. In my instance it was also less than the Kioti or Mahindra, but that changes with dealers. My decision was also based on my positive relationship with the dealer and factory rep. I could own a Kioti and Mahindra and be very happy, if I had the same support.
