You can do what I did. I bought a length of 2" x 2" x 1/4" angle iron the length of my bucket lip. Then I welded two chain hooks onto the angle iron. I also cut a piece of flat iron 1/4" x 2" the length of my bucket lip. Then I drilled and bolted the angle iron to the top of the bucket lip, using the flat stock as a backing plate on the underside of the bucket lip. Cheap and easy to do, and it adds 1/2" of reinforcement to the bucket lip. Also, you can unbolt and remove it if you should ever want to.

Can someone tell me what a good price would be on the following tractors.

also my dealer has as last years L3710 that he is working a price up on. it is a new machine just left over, what price could I expect?

Lastly, I am also looking at the NH TC29D and 33D. Going to mow, brush hog and eventuall plow my 100 ft driveway. Any plus or minus of either machine? So far, the NH pricing has been much better for compariable tractors...

I had a King Kutter scoop a few years ago. I mounted it on my JD 2520 which was more tractor than the scoop was rated for. I believe the scoop was supposed to be limited to about 35 hp. My JD was rated about 60hp. I backed into a pile of dirt that was partially frozen. The John Deere lifted the scoop but it bent in the shape of a pretzel. It was my fault. I think if you use the scoop as it was intended and have reasonable expectations then they work ok. They aren't as good as a front end loader but they are a lot better than a shovel and a wheel barrow.

Anyway back to more serious matters.

Ever since the "7/8's" issue was raised I have been parking my Turdra... whoops I mean Tundra.... next to other American pick-ups when ever possible and eyeballing along the front and rear bumpers. (Yes I meant to say other American pick-ups, my truck was made right here.......)

Anyway, if there is any significant difference in overall length or width I can't see it: Maybe an inch here or there, if that much.

Who ever did those measurements and the 7/8's calculation must have been using an American tape measure on one and a chinese tape measure on the other.

I recently bought 20 acres. 5 acres cleared with the rest wooded. I am getting ready to buy a tractor later this month. I have been looking at the Kubota L3000DT, Mahindra 2810 and the Kioti LK3054. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these tractors? The Mahindra is the cheapest. All have local dealerships in my area. I am also going to purchase a FEL, box blade and shredder. The Kubota dealership is pushing a galvanized shredder with a slip clutch. Says it will hold up(not rust)better than the others with shear pins and heavy gauge steel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You are right 5 string, when the tractor is out of warranty, I'll be more judicious with the PSI. I bet you never have problems with your bearings and bushings. Anyway, if you know anyone that wants an old Gold Star Banjo, I have one I'll sell that is about 20+ years old. Nice instrument. You could put more info into your profile. We tend to take people more seriously if they do.
My dealer told me to "USE THE TRACTOR, WE'LL FIX IT IF IT BREAKS" Actually, I am close to the dealer proximity wise and they sometimes use my feedback to help other customers. Most of my feedback is derived here on the net from fellow tractor folk. I must warn you though, this tractor speak is addictive...Kyle

I agree. There really is very little difference in the new pickup diesels. See the 2003 Western Diesel head-to-head test on pickuptruck.com. The test proves it. In fact, my truck finished last in their test. However, we the consumers are those who win in these pickup truck battles. Ten years ago, the most powerful diesel pickup had only 180 hp! <br>
Now for my opinion. I prefer the superior pull of the I-6 Cummins from way down low. The V-8 Duramax and Power Strokes will beat me in footrace any time, but I like my I-6 tractor engine. It delivers superior fuel mileage than its V-8 rivals and mates with a 5-spd better than the '99 Power Stroke that we have at work. The Cummins consistantly delivers over 21 mpg for my 15-mile, two-lane commute.<br>
Brand preferences aside, diesels rule. I'll drive ANY diesel pickup over a gas version, no matter what badge is on the hood!

The ventrac is still undergoing testing in the field by it's customers and many have had problems and recalls. Steiner tractors have had problems also but that was a long time ago. Steiner does not put tractors in the feild without testing them first. More equipment dealers for steiner then for ventrac. The new 415 steiner has 23hp and is priced around $8,900.00 that is alot smaller in price for a better machine.

Good choice. The smaller frame tractors can be limiting when needing additional loader or 3-point attachments.

Landscapers in SE PA usually complete new lawns seeding in these steps:
1 - Rough grade. A good excavating contractor eliminates this step! Mark is correct that the pulverizer gives you a lot of bang-for-the-buck. However, it doesn't do anything with stones or really hard soil.
2 - Fine grade & remove rocks. A machine called the Preseeder landscaping tiller by ATI Corporation is used virtually exclusively. In one operation it tills, levels, and rakes the seedbed. Nothing compares to the finish that it leaves behind. Best of all, you stay on the tractor since very little hand raking is needed. Many landscapers no longer use a pulverizer to rough grade because the Preseeder is so aggressive. I have used a Preseeder many hours and would buy it over a pulverizer. My local dealer has several in stock. See the link below.
3 - Seed. A Brillion seeder will give you the best stand of grass for the least amount of money. Look around, there are many that are for sale on the used market.

Sergeant, I'm not sure I understand your post but a loader is a non issue for me. I would never consider the X series if a loader was a priority as the cost does not equate with what it can handle. I also will not be buying two tractors that really is my dilema with this unit being a little large for my lawn. Both AWS 2WS and 4wd are currently available.

Not sure of the brand it is blue.And as far as the rebar goes just want to know if anyone has use it.I have seen it use on drag harrows as the spikes.Or dose anyone know where i can get some new spikes at a good price.3O spikes at $8.00 is alot of money.

4:00 in the morning in a storm is NOT the time to do new things.

I got off my tractor to open the gate while blowing snow this am. Put the parking brake on, shut off the PTO, and got off the left side as always.

To avoid more snow blowing in my face, I decided to come back to the tractor on the right.

Stepped right up onto the reverse pedal...and the tractor started backing up. Parking brake released - and since I wasn't in the seat - the tractor shut down. At least the safety backups worked, even if my brain wasn't.

GET INTO A SAFE ROUTINE, AND FOLLOW IT ALL THE TIME.

Have you considered a JD 2210 23hp liquid-cooled diesel that has 4wd, mid and rear pto and limited Cat 1 and Rops standard.Starting price $10,200. 54 or 62inch mid mowing deck, 4ft rottary cutter and 620lb lift capacity loader. In the long run it is a better deal than the X500 series.
