I haven't had that problem on my 7234 "yet" but now that you told us about it I expect we'll all start hitting it now! I don't have much experience with other tractors but I've always felt the 'cockpit' area of the Cub wasn't big enough and I've wondered if other compacts had the same problem. Art White tells about falling off the tractor....I haven't fallen yet but when I plow snow and get off my Cub I always seem to be catching the shift, (good sized lever that sticks up from the left side)with the bottom of my jacket. I've thought like Art said someday I'm going to catch the shift and either fall or kick it back into gear at which point I'd be laying on the ground about the time the 41 X 14 X 20 tires run over me....

Does anyone know were I can get a owner's manuel or user manuel for one of these engines. Tractor is a SHIBAURA SE 1340 2 cyl diesel. Any help (in french if it's possible) would be appriciated.

These appear to be heavy tractors (specs on a 320 show 2700 pounds) and I will take back my suspicion that the 520 will not pull the 3-bottom plow, but still don't know if it will through the black clay in TX. I grew up pulling plows through the black dirt in Iowa, as well as some experience in the red clay in WI. Whereas the Iowa black dirt was hard to get the plow through (plows had to be in superb condition or the black dirt would not "scour" off the moldboard), the WI clay would force one to drop a plow, and I thought much tougher to get through than the IA black dirt. Each presented their own problems. No experience with the TX clay.

Traction along with HP is also a serious consideration when pulling a plow. Semi-mounted and 3pt plows had some advantage over a pull-type plow simply because the draft control could be used to put a load on the rear wheels. Sometimes to the point that the front end would get light, and weights had to be added (or as Art said, plow with the FEL mounted) to the front end and the left side of the tractor.

You can Get a X495 with AWS now. Now at your other property if you ever plan on doing loader work you cannot use a loader on the AWS model.

I suppose I should be happy for you that you can get a used TC40D for $11,500 but as an owner of TC40D with 150 hours I hope the one you are looking at is the only priced that cheap. It always depends on what side of the purhase you are on but I hope I don't experience that amount of depreciation on mine. Again, that sounds like a nice price and I would probably opt for the 40D over the 33D. You have to wonder what trade-in price they allowed the poor bastard who traded it in.

I also have the 420 loader. Welded two chain type hooks on the top of the loader. Each is welded to the reinforcing plate where the arm attaches to the bucket. This seems to be the strongest place, and dealer said it was a good place. Works great. Ken

If hooks are installed on this loader will it be able to lift and move 3pt attachments weighting 500lbs or are the hydrolics a little weak on the 790 deere?

The two dealers I have to only want to dump used equipment and they don't seem to want to deal on new ... just dump the used ... it seems there is a lot of rental return out here from california wine biz, the prices I see on this board is what I'm being quoted for rental return. ....

Is there are there dealers that just want to churn new equipment at competitive prices??

I just bought a SD2203 and am looking for manuals also. So far all I could find in English were parts manual but supposedly they show very good detail for disassembly/assembly. I have posted a question asking if anyone knows of a Ford/New Holland product that is similiar to mine. Have you tried that?

Last summer I damaged one of the blades on my 4310 with a 60" 7 Iron Deck. The 4310 and the blades were only a week old. I went to the dealer to get a replacement blade but they would only sell them in sets of three. I put a new set on and put the other two on the shelf.

I was at another dealer just recently and was discussing this. I said I would like to get another blade to make a second set. He said they sold them on sets of three but had a solution. He got me a blade and I thought I was on business.

I went home and checked. My mower takes a M128485. The blade he gave me was a M141785. From what I have found the blade he sold me was for a 400 series lawn trackor with a 60 inch deck. It also fits a number of 55 series with the same size deck. Blade looks to be the same except it is 1/2 inch shorter.

I'm thinking about returning it but wanted some other input.

I just purchase this unit and have a couple of questions. It is a 2wd,3cylinder. Does anyone know what model Ford/New Holland this would be equivalent to? I want to get a manual and so far all I can find are either in Japanese or just parts manuals in English. Also the fuel filter appears to need to be change but the seller cautioned me that it can be a hassle doing it because it is hard to get the air out.

I did think about reversing the pins, which would gain a couple inches on each side. It just looks a little unstable with the 5' bush hog. On 4' implements I wouldn't hissitate. I may give it a try this spring, will post what I find.

I just had my first serious attack since installing Norton Firewall a month or so ago. It was identified as a Backdoor Trojan Horse Program from the UK but through someplace in VA or Delaware. It's easy to over-react, and some attacks are fairly benign--but maybe not. I think that a firewall is good to have.

Ironically the attack came not long after I went on a high traffic discussion board that I seldom even read anymore. I noticed that the board now has a counter that reports registered and non-registered users. I don't know I was identified to the attacker by my presence on the other board.

The pics look very similar to my 1710 but not identical. My TX is an optional synchromesh TX that has the gear-shifter on the steering column and live-PTO. The standard TX is very similar to the pics. Neither the gears nor the ranges are synchromesh. It has a TX driven PTO with built-in over-running clutch. I think both TX's were offered with an optional creeper kit, which probably is your high/low range selector.

The spec for my clutch adjustment free-travel is 3/4". No guarantee that yours has the same spec, but you might try taking some free-travel out of it. If the clutch has a warp and is slightly dragging, you might not notice the drag but it could be enough to keep those non-synchronized range gears from shifting. I'd hate to over-rate the possibility but it'd be nice if that was the solution.

The fact that the pulverizer doesn't have many teeth left may be a pretty good indication that rebar didn't work that well.<br>

I think that what ever replaces the teeth should have similar hardness to factory replacements. Too soft and they'd bend. Too hard and they'd break or maybe break something on the pulverizer.<br>

For a do it yourself idea, a local blacksmith might be able to do a good enough job of hardening some high-carbon round stock. It would be good to know the Rockwell hardness of the originals to figure how long to leave them in a tempering oven. I did see a blacksmith putting new points on the teeth of a pavement ripper once but I think the teeth were mild steel since seemed to be water-quenching them just to cool them down after heating only the tips so he could work them.<br>

Yes I have one that I use for grinding up rocks to make that rock dust fertilizer for the grass :>) . Great unit! It even cuts grass!
