I agree with Mark on the 4 wd issue. But Dennis raises a good point. Location, Location, Location. Money is also a factor.

If the snows are light in your area, a blade or single stage snow thrower for the front of that 325 may do the trick.

1.5 acres is a not to much mowing for a 325, depending on your available mowing time. As far as the terrain, I have customers who leave chains on the rear tires year around on thier 325/335/345's to help with traction on slopes, some have barred tires for the smae reason, and they work very well, with minimal turf damage.

My advice is to mow a few times with the 325 and see how that works. The snow removal is another issue, you may want to check with others in your area to see what to expect.

In my area, N. W. Indiana, every year is different, we have extremes in the amounts of snow from year to year. You need to be prepared to handle the worst, and watch helplessly as your snow equipment sets idle some years, with the only justification of it's purchase being the memory of how bad it was only a few years ago.

A little far for me. I live in Romney WV. Looking for something that runs good to start a business with father inlaw. He used to own a backhoe years ago. would be greatly appretiated if could help. It would mean alot to us.

Peters, not so far indeed, EH!... Heck we're almost neighbours, my place is about 15 minutes north of Minden on Hwy. 35 (at Carnarvon).

Which explains why the material on your road is so nice, it's like what's on my road, it's NOT crushed Limestone, it's crushed Granite, BIG difference. When you crush Granite all you get is sand, when you crush Limestone all you get is dust. If you stop and carefully look at the material on your road (but watch out for traffic) I think you will find that it is all 'sparkly'...

Although I see it done, and shudder every time I do, DO NOT put CaCl (Calcium Chloride) ANYWHERE that a horse is going to walk through it! It is the nastiest stuff to flesh you could imagine, if you need proof just read the WHIMIS sheet on the stuff, there is a whole (long) paragraph on the bags ours comes in cautioning against contact with exposed skin. I have personally seen horses feet so bad they had to be bandaged with salve till they healed after exposure to freshly treated ground.

The best stuff I have seen for improving footings in an arena so far, but it is a little pricey, is ground up rubber (tires I think), since it will not absorb or hold water it does not get muddy, and it makes the ground more resilient too. Otherwise a clay mix is the best, just be sure to mix it well or it has a tendancy to 'ball' up, which leaves the arena looking like a herd of rabbits came through.

I paid 14,100 for a 2001 L3010 GST w/ new 72" Befco finish mower. From what I am reading here it seems I got a fair deal. What do you think.(32 hrs on the tractor @ that time )

Kevin, I think 13k is certainly a fair deal, especially with the hoe. I recently purchased a pretty nice 855 with 620 hours and front end loader for $10,200.00, which I felt was a reasonable price. With the backhoe, PH digger and hog, that is certainly fair in my opinion. I would certainly offer less and see what happend though - ya never know! Hope this helps.

My Dad and I put them in a trailer. Those too big to lift got broken with a sledgehammer first. Those too big to break, we would upset with the tractor and prybars and then try again, or pull it out of the way with a chain. Too big for that, we left them. It's still about the same for me; the only difference is I upset the big ones with the backhoe, and later push them where I want with the rear scraper blade.

I also just purchased a BX2200,the second time I was mowing
the deck came off, causing some minor damage, thank goodness
it was covered. I still have a problem taking the shaft off,
when taking off the mower deck. I like the tractor but I
hope these little things do not continue.

Reinforcing the top edge is sometimes done by people who weld hooks onto the bucket, and for about the same reason.

I don't know how the bucket is used. However, I'd avoid pushing heavy loads with the bucket angled down. Using a loader like a dozer blade places a lot of stress on the frame and cylinders. It's pretty easy to break something.

My recollection may be faulty here but I seem to recall that the pony engines on some early square balers ran a 'kicker.' The kicker booted the bales out of the machine on and onto the ground rather than to do the actual baling. For comparable size bales, round bales may take less HP that square balers.

OK let me ramble for a minute or two. I spent 8 years aquiring and building what I thought was the ultimate setup to maintain my 6 acres. Went through several garden tractors before settling on a JD 318 unit. It was awesome - hydro, tight turning radius, individual rear brakes, hydraulic lift for mower, hydraulic snow blade- fully hydraulic, power steering, ONAN 18HP fully pressurized engine. It is awesome but I needed more. Found a Ford 641, 30HP, 3Pt hitch - put about 2 summers of work into it- even split it to put in a new clutch, mated it with a modern FEL, added a 72" grooming mower to the back. It was friggin awesome. Strong, tight with rebuilt steering, electronic ignition, 12V 60Amp alternator. Then I saw the Boomer at the county fair. Like nothing I have ever seen. With the articulating front axle it looked so cool-turned so far it looked like it was broke. I know tractors pretty well. But the Boomer stood out. One problem, make that two. I could not afford a new tractor and two I could not bear to part with my other "children". My wife took a picture of me atop the unit at the fair. 3 years later I bought a TC25D - in 2 weeks I proved that it could replace the other units with one ultimate power tool. I will write up a separate review. Bottom line - I am very happy. Still have to sell the JD. Ford sold last week. :)

Jerry - I wish it was a little more intuitive. I have only had the tractor for a few weeks and am getting used to it. There are at least two, maybe 3 points on each side where I could possibly make a MMM leveling adjustment. 1) I assume that the nuts on the springs at the rear are not going to level it. 2) The rod can be taken up or loosened at the front. 3) The rod can be taken up or loosened at the back. Right now all of my rods are flush with the U shaped clevis tapped hole
