One thing that goes clunk for me is the fact that when you remove a Deere loader you usally leave the hydraulic controls behind on the tractor. When you remove a Kubota loader the joy stick goes with the loader.
So between the Deere loader and the Kubota tractor I bet you don't have a control system.

Actually Kubota has three listings for their loaders, they are rated at the pivot pin, the bucket center and 500mm forward. They mostly just seem to put the bucket center numbers in the sales brochures.

First, check tire pressure. After that follow the mower deck owners manual. It's actual sort of difficult, but once adjusted it should stay. My "biggest" problem was the adjustable link..I tinker with it for different implements and finally measured the overall length..wrote it on the back of the toolbox. It works for me.

Dear Tom, not knowing the physical condition of the persons who'll be using the walk I'll go out on a limb and give you the method I use frequently. Your congregation may have some handicapped members, some may be wheelchair bound, some may have walking disability, be that as it may, most pros here in CT have to make paths and sidewalks accessible to all (private property in some communities is an exception, I'm not sure how temple or churches fit into that as they serve the public but are "private" property).

Your small tractor should do just fine, it will take you a bit longer, but it should be up to the job. Layout your walk, excavate down (if your soil is firm enough you won't need forms) to the frost code depth for your area that pertains to walks for pedestrian traffic. Fill with half inch washed gravel and level to a height three inches from your finish grade height. Using a vibratory plate compactor work the gravel to at least four inches below the final height. Add three more inches of half inch gravel and compact again to within two inches of finished grade. That was the easy part.

Now you need to decide on the final surface. The gravel you just put down is essential for proper drainage, don't cover it with plastic, if you want to use anything use a porous landscaping fabric. For just plain foot traffic I'd use granite "crusher run," sometimes known as stone dust. It must be granite to prevent tracking it indoors, compact it until it is hard, then water it in. After the water has drained away, add material until the surface is level, and compact again. This surface should hold up in all but the most severe rains and will not be severely damaged by frost. It also should be smooth enough and firm enough for handicapped traffic, you won't catch a toe or bog down a wheelchair (ladies with spike heels beware). I have used this method in the borders of my Japanese "karesansui" dry zen garden designs, only I use granite to edge for retention (and looks) and also to define the width of the walk.

Depending on the creek, you could bridge it or use plastic construction pipe. I'm not sure of the flow rate, depth, or widths involved - you probably aren't either. You should have a landscape architect check it out and spec. the construction method.

An alternate that is a bit more difficult to use is "cold patch" asphalt. It can be bought by the truck load or in bags. You need to wet it down while you are compacting it, but it also will provide a tough durable smooth surface if you work at it.

Finally, your building codes may dictate concrete, and the entire process may be subject to inspection. Maybe a member of the congregation knows the local codes and can help guide the project legally. Take your time, this is something you'll take great pride in when finished (oh by the way, if I were to do it, it would cost $50 to $75 a yard not counting the creek). Good luck!

I agree with Peters, 30 hp give or take a pony, would be a good start. The sizes he mentioned would be what I would recomend.

Guess it depends on the price and the dealership in your area to help you with the rest of the desision.

I remember reading an ad in a trade publication a while back about a product to spread on the sand to firm it up, your posted jarred my memory, not hard enough however, because I can't remember much about it, or even what the name of the magazine was, I can remember it was enviromentaly friendly. That helps very little though. Maybe someone else read the same ad and could help us out here.

Calcium Chloride can be applied. This will help the sand hold moisture and keep it firm, but I doubt it woul;d be anything you would want to do, due to costs, and it will leach away after only a few months.

I have used skid steer loaders quite a bit and in most soils, they do not get stuck easily. But, when the soil is not solid and is easily displaced (deep mud or loose sandy soil) they will dig in to the frame. When they "skid" they displace dirt sideways.

Sounds like you are gonna need a 4WD for sure. It really seems to help the smaller tractors. I would think that anywhere from 25 to 35 HP should handle anything you indicate you will be using. Plus that size is pretty agile. If you plan on selling in the future, look more toward the big 3, JD, NH or Kubota. Their prices seem to hold up better. Good luck

I purchased an 8'Sno Way shortly after they were introduced. Used it commercially for three years, and found it to be an incredibly good plow. The only problem that I had was the clear lexan became scratched
(road sand) after two seasons and the headlights would not shine through it properly. Finally bought the light kit and was satisfied

I am a scientist and engineer. I am trained to be skeptical about salesmens claims. I even find the JD Power data suspect as people that spent 80K on a car are not likely to claim they have problems and the gold service probably corrects problems during routine service.
What I am saying that 20 years ago the Japanese manufactures were centered on their market. You can see this with the older grey market tractors. The Japanese farmer is just trading some of these tractors now that they have reached 1500-2500 hrs. For the tractor manufacture this was a life time. From what I have been told this was the way the early JD/Yanmars performed. From what I have seen the early Kubotas behaved about the same, although again we have not statistic.
Now that they are centered on the world market I am sure they all engineer for longer hours.
Maybe we need a JD Farmers for the tractors to impartically collect the statistics.

Has anyone ever taken off the plastic cover beneath the dash? It seems I can lube all hyro linkage points except the one that is squeeking :). It is somewhere behind this plastic cover on my TC25D.

Has anyone ever had an issue with this? Mine - no matter how hard I turn the cap - I can't get it loose. I have now tried so hard that it moves like 1/4". My concern now is that I have somehow stripped the plastic in the cap. Anyone know anything about this? I am thinking I can pop off the cap cover and loosen that nut to get to what ever is stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to tractortips.com. Click on specs./serial numbers. It gives the years that each model tractor was made. If you know the serial number, then you can find the exact year one was made.
