this sort of goes along with sidehill stability. I learned that it is possible for my deere 4200 to popout of 4wd unexpectedly. I was mowing nose down a pretty steep bank, and it suddenly went into 2wd. The back tires only couldn't hold it, and I slid about 10 ft into a tree. Glad I had the loader on, and glad the tree was there.

I learned another cheap lesson...Maybe I shouldn't depend on 4wd to keep me out of trouble, but be ready to drop the loader for the worlds best parking brake.

I have a 72" deere mower deck needed a vacuum system The main problem was deere not wanting to sell me the shoot boot that catches the grass.They have this over in the UK. but don't sell in U.S. so had to find dealer that would ship to U.S. I even talk to deere where they make the compacts he had the iformation about said they would't get it for me.I spent about 1yr.off and on got discourage for a while.The vacuum that deere has is 3pt and ran off the pto.The one i seen was old he wanted to much $$$$ for it so about once a yr.i woul be up that way he would still have it.I had an old trailer type change it to 3pt does pretty good but the green grass gets clog in the vacuum part.When you have a 8" tube going in and a 5" tube going out their is too much going in at one time.So I mow one day and go back over it in a day or two lets the grass dry and be lighter don't have trouble that way.
I don't understand why deere doesn't offer this vacuum system inU.S. they have differant sizes.It has some good features holds a lot more grass than what they have in U.S. pto driven no need for another motor and less up keep and you can dump the grass from the tractor seat.It looks on the order of a big round baler but smaller.

Replace the pick up coil in the rotor. Temperature related electrical intermitant problems are normally the coil.
The pick up coil works on electromagnetic hall effect. Ie a magnet in the fly wheel passes by the small coil and induces a charge in the coil. The wire is very fine and eventually will break. The brake can be temperature related. I have had coils that function well when hot or cold. Or completely stop.

I am trying to complete the first 50 hr oil change to my tc33d. Heck of a time finding the engine oil filter. part number. (86532916) I changed all of the other filters, Hydro, Transmission, etc. however, cannot find the engine part number. Nor can anyone else. The part number I come up with when I search for my engine is the same filter as for my transmission???

Just bought 10 Acres and am looking at what size tractor I would need for it and my hunting. Will use the tractor on the 10 Acres for small garden and mowing. At the hunting club will use to to create food plot's and mowing. Any idea what will be best?

I believe that wheels were adjustable for cultivating, and also the many other jobs required for row crops. You don't want to be running over and compacting the ground where you are going to follow with your planter. Sprayers also need to fit between rows, as well as fertilizer spreaders for mid-season top dressing. Farmers used to use many different row spacings depending on their particular thoughts on crop raising, and tractors were made to accomodate this. Now-a-days, most farmers I know use 30-inch rows, but some old-timers still use anywhere from 28 to 40.

Years ago, I sold farm equipment. I have seen many operators with varying levels of experience use tractors that I sold them.

Many of the older tractors had narrow front ends (tricycle style). I do not see narrow front tractors being made anymore, but I am by no means an expert in the current market and I no longer sell farm equipment. I suspect that we can thank the product liability lawyers for the change to wide front tractors.

I sold farm equipment while working my way through college getting a degree in Mechanical Engineeering. I have not done a detailed analysis, but even though the front axle pivots, there are stops and it cannot pivot indefinitely.

The pivot or rollover axis for a tractor is going to be the line between the rear and front wheels. The further out that line is from the CG of the tractor, the more stable the tractor will be. For a tricycle gear tractor, the line extends from the rear wheel to the narrow front tricycle wheel(s) in the front. The point of critical stability will be when the CG of the tractor is directly over that line. That happens when a rear wheel drops into a hole or you are running around the slope of a steep hill. (a fairly steep hill by the way)

For a wide front tractor, like current modern Compact Tractors, the situation is similar but different. The pivot for the front axle keeps the wheels on the ground for more traction in uneven terrain. In a roll over situation, the axle will pivot to the stops and then the roll over line will be defined as the point between the rear wheel and the stopped downhill front wheel. This line is always going to be outside and further away from the CG of the tractor with a tricycle gear. Therefore the wide front tractor will be somewhat more stable. The degree of improvement in the stability is going to depend on a lot of things including how much pivot capability is designed into the front axle assembly.

Now back to the original point. Since SS pulls the wheels inward toward the Tractor Center of Gravity (CG), it may be somewhat lower in stability than a fixed angle pivoted front end. I suspect that this is more of an intellectual discussion than a practical one however. I have driven tricycle gear tractors in similar situations and I have never turned one over. My father did turn one over sideways on a steep hill, however. He also turned the same tractor over backwards by going straight up a steep slope. (The front end style does not matter at all in this latter case.) He encountered a lot of situations when he was farming full time for 50 years.

If I had bought a D series tractor, I personally would have considered the SuperSteer option. I think that it is a clever idea, and I trust my instincts with respect to slopes. I bought the 12 speed tractor, because I grew up on a farm using gear shift tractors, and I am comfortable with them. I like using brakes to enhance my steering and traction. The choice of the manual transmission was important enough to me to pass up the features of the D and that included the possibility of getting SS. I did drive a TC35D and a TC29D. They were wonderful tractors, but they were not what I wanted.

I stick by what I said earlier in the thread. SS will definitely enhance maneuverability. I also expect that it is easier on grass than without SS. So if you drive around a lot of things such as mowing, I think SS would be an outstanding option to have. I live in the high desert. When I use my steering brakes, I only make a track in the sand and I do not need SS.

How high is the water table around your cabin?

Do you have footer drains plumbed to daylight?

If you have high water the skim coat is a little more insurance against water seeping through your bloack wall. If your area is dry and you have decent footer drains, seal the block yourself with 2 coats of foundation sealer.

If you have water problems, skim coat the block, apply 2 coats of sealer on the exterior, make sure you have decent footer drains and apply dry lock on the interior.

Years ago, I used to sell NH Skid Steers and other farm equipment. So, when we moved to the suburban country, I casually mentioned getting a skid steer like a Bobcat. My wife liked the term Bobcat and it stuck. So earlier this year, she said "why don't you go look into buying a Bobcat to help with all this digging that you are doing?"

I looked at Bobcats and other skid steers and generally found that they get stuck too easily in our loose sandy soil. I have personally buried a rented trencher up to the axles more than once here.

Both the JD and NH dealers recommended Compact Tractors. For some reason the Bobcat dealer did not. :-)
That is how I got the original motivation to buy the tractor. It is always best to have family buy-in on a purchase this large.

I have never even come close to getting my TC45 stuck, and the versatility is definitely a plus. I have never had to use the 4WD from a sticky situation. But, I have little doubt that between independent wheel brakes, locking differential, and 4WD that I could drive out of most any reasonable situation.

I did get the 16LA loader with an outstanding option. The quick attach bucket option makes the loader capable of taking any quick change attachment. I can use any bucket for the Bobcats from the local rental yard. I can also change buckets in less than a minute with two levers.

My wife has shown little interest in the tractor. She mentioned that perhaps she could use it to drive the 1/4 mile to the mail box, but I suggested that it really might be easier for her to use her Jeep Wrangler. (this is true)
My tractor has the 12 speed shuttle manual transmission. While it is a manual transmission, it is a dream to operate compared to the older tractor transmissions that I was used to work when I grew up on a farm. But, this strange little blue contraption with twenty or so levers and controls probably does keep the wife from getting on it, and I am not motivated to explain how easy it is to operate.

So, now the only problem is that she refers to the tractor as "your new toy," and I am forced to adopt an expression of indignence and explain how much better my back feels since I have a tractor to do the heavier work. (again true)

I read the Binkley & Horst part but I am not close to there (Northeast PA). I like your homemade bar alot better than the ones I have seen the manufacturers selling. Seems like when you want somthing done right, ...

This site doesn't allow uploading of pictures. I agree with the policy. Uploading pictures can create high-volume traffic on the board's ISP and increase operating costs. I also think that easy pics can turn a site into a bunch of snaps at the expense of content.

What the site allows is links to pictures at other sites. I recently created a site for our township public library board, and converted to effort so I can upload pics to the space that comes free with my ISP account. It simply requires replacement of default script in a public area of my account. Many ISP's have detailed instructions and tech help to accomplish this. The very simple script I used is:

There is a file in my public area called biss8.jpg that is the pic. It probably would work without the width, height and alt parameters, in which case I could change pics by simply uploading a different image into the biss8 file. To date, I've edited the script and uploaded a different file and then delete any I no longer want. Simple script additions would allow display of several pics.

Sounds more difficult than it actually is. Uploading and downloading requires FTP software. FTP is built into my HTML editor but I find that a decent FTP program is helpful. Here are some security issues, and an ISP tech could describe them. Among the issues are that some FTP programs make a persons internet account number vulnerable.

As with every tractor. The value of the tractor is somewhat associated with the dealer. The dealer in Indiana that I looked at was significantly higher than the Kioti dealer across the river in Kentucky, had little stock and few parts. I purchased neither but found a used JD tractor in Kentucky.

I'm not sure it's been said one way or the other if the 3ph has draft, position or other type control. Some of the comments sound more like draft control. <br>

For draft control on my Ford, the control valve is centered in neutral and does move one way for lift and the other for lower. In neutral, I believe that the control valve spool rather than the check valve does block the return oil from the cylinder. I suppose I took position control as an illustration because I don't have to look in the manual much to write about it.<br>

Irrespective of the type of hitch, I hope all this helped the thought process and the problem gets solved. If the valve is scored, I have heard that some types can be repaired by electroplating and re-lapping. I'm not sure how the results compare in either cost or durability to new parts.<br>

The 4310 they had there had bars tires and sure looked small compared to my 4310 w/oversized R4's.All these
compacts were inside a 20x40 tent,I don't remember the
dealers name that was there with the compact JD's
