The best answers anyone (Oil Co. & Manuf.'s Tech.'s) could give me was that the differences between the different oils is basically this; 1) the Base oil is ALMOST identical regardless of what the label says, 2) the only REAL differences (and they are HUGE) is in the type and quantity of ADDITIVES that goes into the different oils. This makes a LOT of sense. Anyone out there with a 'modern, hi tech' diesel such as the Ford Power Stroke will know that using the wrong oil is like disconnecting 2 cylinders. Likewise with tractors, certain models or features (like Kubota's GST unit) require fluid that has more than the 'standard' levels of additives to control things like foaming (in the case of the GST), or cold temp. stability. So if your unit is absolutely nothing special, no problem, if it has specialized items, give them the right stuff. HOWEVER, as Art so correctly pointed out, I have gone through this with different Manufacturers, your warranty CANNOT be voided as long as you follow the spec.'s with regards to levels of maintenace, and quality of products used. The products however DO NOT have to be a specific BRAND. In other words, Kubota cannot kill your warranty merely because you did not use Kubota fluids, as long as you changed them for something EQUAL or better. Best of luck.

Actually gentlemen, the 3pth is not nearly as robust as you may think, especially the upper link. I have seen the 3pth on many implements folded up like a pretzel by reasonably light, but incorrect loads. The most common instance is when someone thinks that the spindle of the single tail wheel on a bush-hog looks like just the ticket to move a trailer a few feet. The 'tower' generally loses the battle and ends up mangled. The 3pt hitch on most implements is designed to take loads in a single direction, if you were to load the wrong way, they collapse. The 3pt on a bush-hog for example, is ONLY designed to lift the mower, if you were to load it in reverse by driving through a steep ditch and letting it take the weight, you would find it doesn't fare well at all. TomG, I don't buy the theory that a manufacturer needs to protect the dealers on service and warranty work in the manner of New Holland. Service work should be able to stand on its own as a profitable business. Otherwise it is being subsidized by sales. If a dealer runs a service business properly (that is, exceptional customer service at a fair return) then customer loyalty will follow, leading to future sales. Sales is not as hard to do as exceptional customer service. So my theory is that exceptional customer service (hard work) will be rewarded by sales. The NH theory seems to be whoever gets the sale (easy part) then has to do the service. I don't see the incentive here for exceptional customer service. And if the service business can't stand on its own because it is not compensated justly for warranty work by the manufacturer, then the manufacturer is just shifting the burden to the consumer again, either by poor warranty service or by higher selling prices to subsidize the warranty work.

When I get my blades sharpened by the local sharpening shop, they come back *VERY* sharp - you could cut yourself on them. These are going to cut much better and more efficiently - especially if you don't have rocks.

Tom that filter is metal but before I got it clean enough to tell I had already ordered a new one through the New Holland Dealer here in town. It cost $40.00 for that little thing. Anyway it works good .... Thanks for everything

Roger, it is a newer model close to what they are selling right now(as Amerequip) I haven't bought it yet(have money down on it though). I ran it on the sellers tractor(a 1520 Ford)(wish I had the Hydro specs for the Ford). It was rather impressive. The prices I have on the pump are 599 retail, 577 from dealer local, and 525 from internet dealer. I'll probably stay local(shipping etc) How does yours hook to your tractor(does it have a subframe or just 3pt).

I just purchased a Kelley backhoe for my JD 855. I like it real well. I have tried to get their web site also, it is not responding and has not for quite some time now. Unfornunately they do not have an 800 number (bummer) this is their regular phone number----219-255-4746. Hope this helps, if anyone gets their web site to respond, please post it here. I talked with them about two weeks ago and none of the people I conversed with knew anything about the web site being down.

There are, or course, different size alternators. Mine generates about 40A. I am quite sure if I threw a winch on it I would at the very least burn out the rectifying diodes. As previously suggested, I would use a separate battery, probably a deep cycle one, and put it on charge after use. My $.02

I think that if it was pounded long enough with a big enough hammer on a heavy enough anvil, it would be cold-worked and about as good as new. Otherwise, it might tend to break where the edge was bent. Maybe somebody who has done some smithing knows how long and how big and heavy.

I've seen a rumor that Kubota may be coming out with a backhoe to fit on the BX2200. Does anybody have any more information on this?Although it would have to be a very small backhoe, it would be the perfect complement to what seems to be a sweet little tractor. I've been drooling over the BX tractor since it came out, trying to figure out how to justify it to my wife. Being able to get a FEL and a backhoe might make me lose all reason and order one...the new car can wait.thanksBill.

I bought a very used L-210 with a used Bush Hog ATH600 5' finishing mower last month. My 10+ acres is mostly level grass, and this rig seems to work OK. I did have to use the lowest speed when cutting some stuff that was higher than the front wheels, and I even had to re-cut some of that to really cut the knock-down, but for most of the grass I can run in fourth and get decent results. This mower weighs more than 500 lbs, but the hydraulics lifts it fine. It's fun going down the road at a whopping 11 mph with the mower hanging back there...reminds me of a carnival ride. Anyway, I've been reading some of the old posts and it sounds like I'm pushing the L-210 pretty hard. Any opinions? Also, there are a number of what I assume are mounting bolts on the right side and under the block/transmission. What kind of implements are/were available for this tractor that would use those? The only pto is in back, as are the hydraulics. So far the mower and a carry-all are all I have, but I will be getting some kind of blade for driveway and snow work. Then a plow or tiller before next growing season. I know I can get an appropriate blade and plow, but is there a tiller that will work?Chuck<br>

David, it would be hard for anyone to give you a definitive answer without more details of what you're mowing (and then the answer would just be an "opinion) - is the "lawn" a manicured lawn (like I had when I lived in town) or just a "yard" (like I have now); i.e., how smooth and how pretty a cut do you want? Is the field smooth? Just grass and light weeds? How high do you let it get before you mow it? I have both a Bush Hog RDTH60 finish mower ($1,695) and a Howe 500 rotary cutter ($495) for my 2.5 to 3 acre yard and 7 acre pasture. If the blades are sharp enough on a brush hog, you can mow the yard with it, but it isn't going to be as pretty a cut as a finish mower. And if you've been mowing the field with a riding mower, you can mow it with a finish mower, but they're pretty expensive mowers to wear out taking a beating on rough ground.

I'm in the process of deciding on tractors. Trying to get the better tractor for my needs without "going overboard". A little background... 1+ acres cleared to mow, 200' driveway to blow in winter and a 50x50 garden for tilling. An additional acre may be annexed in the future, so... Looking to do all with one unit, so the G / BX series came to mind. Not overly concerned with the FEL, (nice option but not truly necessary). Open to all comments, including hearing from the Deere / NH folks on their thoughts as well. Thanks in advanceJeff

I bought my 1994 1620 4 months ago, it came with a 60" mid mower and a 60" back blade. 105 hours on it, turf tires $11,000. the cab and front loader are expensive options that boost the value, conversely 1500 hours is getting up there. I like mine, only wish it had the 72" mower deck.

Kind of wants you to do all maintenance yourself... Mine has the conical head bolts and wheel to match. I put loc-tite on the bolts (blue stuff) and worked it pretty hard this weekend. Didn't loosen one iota.
