I am considering a Ford 1920 2wd{year unknown} with approx 700 hrs,turf tires and no other equipment. I would appreciate any thoughts anyone has on this model and an approximate value. Thanks for your time.

I don't know. A couple of things that might be useful is that I traveled around several dealers and they were about a grand higher. On this particular deal, the dealer said that he had picked up the loader at another dealer's going out of business auction and was passing on the savings to me. I got it for about $2K and I have seen them advertised for around $2,500-2,700. Friday, I was over at the dealer picking up oil and he said the prices on this year's batch had gone up in price but was vague when I tried to get more info. <br>Lee

ED,which 820 do you mean? The 2 cylinder one or the 3 cylinder one, the 3020 has<br>65 horsepower and was up dated to 71 horsepower in 1966 the wt. is hard to tell<br>because there were different models tire sizes etc. A good replacement is a 5510<br>or 6310, both are nice tractors.

Hey guys I've been looking through the bulletin board. I'm looking to buy a used compact tractor to mow, finish and bushog along with possibly buy a grader box and also be able to plow my 600' gravel drive in the winter and then grade it in the spring. I was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions on what to buy and what to watch for in regards to mechanically sound tractors. I was wrong on the HP for the Massey 1205. The salesman I talked to thought it was 19 HP, but it is only 15 HP. The Massey 1220 is 21 HP, more equal to the Deere 4100. The Massey 1220 was quoted at $10,300. I went back to the Deere dealer, and looked at the 4100 again. I bought the 4100 with gear for $10,300. It seemed to fit my needs better, plus the dealer is closer to home.

Looking at purchasing a L35 to remove underground fuel oil tanks for residential properties. I don't want to purchase a larger machine like a case, because I only have a 1 ton to pull the tractor. Any comments on the L35 loader/backhoe? Something in between that may work? Thanks for your comments.

4600 with PowrReverser,R4's loaded with antifreeze = $18,600
460 Loader = $3,400 with fork blades add $790
74" Tiller = $1795 (not JD Bush Hog brand I think)
2 Bottom Plow = $475
Rear Scrape Blade = $700 (not JD Bush Hog brand I think)
5' Bush Hog Brand Rotary Cutter = $890
Canopy = 375 (my wife's input)
Total is (with tax) 27,290.25
He showed us a 4 in one Bucket but didn't push it. Said the added cost was also in the extra hydraulics needed to operate it.
Didn't recomend hst in this size tractor but stated it was his bias.
Also said he does recomend them in smaller models used mostly for mowing.
Indicated saving only a couple of bucks on the 4500 didn't make it worth it.
Since this is my first tractor (after a "lawn and garden" fiasco) purchase I am a bit nervous about making the right decision. Peoples who opinion I trust ( 2 Uncles with a lot more farming experience) kept telling me to get a bigger tractor. So I now think I'm at the right size.
I would appreciate any opinions about this set-up and my dealers advice.

The question was about transmission heaters and everyone seems to be answering an engine starting question. Hydros need to have warm oil in them before you use them. During cold weather the warm up time needed to bring the hydro oil up to temperature can be quite long. Much longer than what is required to warm up the engine. Some people may not warm up the transmission long enough and could cause damage. I am not familiar with your model, but with most models as long as you do not drive off to soon, the heater is not necessary.

I have been pricing a Boomer TC33D (hydro), fwd, with a 7308 bucket loader. <br>I've gotten a price of $18,700+ delivered, with tires filled with calcium<br>for weight. Right now, NH is offering 7.9% financing up to 60 months. <br>Seems like a fairly good deal, and I haven't started to haggle yet. The <br>JD 4300 similarly equipped has come in around $19,700+. Right now I am leaning <br>towards the Boomer.<br>Hope this helps.

As a new owner of an old B20 I can say I don't regret my decision. The loader issue is addressed by all manufacturers in a positive way. The backhoe however is addressed differently. Even my B20 manual says no 3 point hitch backhoe allowed. My primary concern was of the strength of the 3 pt hitch, mainly the top link particularly when digging towards the machine. The B20 now discontinued in favour of a B21 has a frame to carry everything including the loader whereas a 3 pt unit does not. The manufacturers may disagree and there are probably many happy 3 point users out there but the frame is what influenced my decision. My friend with a L3600 is faced with the same dilemna and has expressed good reviews on the frame setup vs the 3 pt. The frame offers some disadvantages as various messages on these sites have stated. Buy the machine that will do what you will do most.

When I bought my JD855 I was afraid I wouldn't have any traction for land<br>clearing and loader operations if I got the Turf tires. After a couple of<br>years with Turf Tires filled with Calcium chloride, I am convinced that <br>I made the right choice. R4 tires will not only cause unnecessary ruts<br>even with 4wd and diff lock disengaged, they also cause much more soil <br>compaction which will eventually cause your lawn serious grief. I get enough<br>soil compaction now, and can't imagine what it would be like with R4s.<br>When I'm in the woods dragging bolders and pulling stumps etc, I rarely <br>wish for more traction. It's almost always more power I'd opt for. I<br>can stall the engine before the traction gives out 9 times out of 10.<br>You can always add chains when you're going out in real muddy times. Go with<br>the turf tires, you probably won't regret it.

I bought a TC-25D for many of the same reasons as Greg. I also noticed the TC25 was put together with a lot more attention to detail than the 4200. For instance, some of the hydraulics (power steering) are attached on the bottom (in harms way) rather than the top, and they crossover under the frame.

Looking for thoughts on JD4200 Kubota B2710hsd and NH Boomer TC25D
