There is a blower you push made by Little Wonder (I think). It has an 8 HP engine and is great for clearing lawns etc.

For larger areas there is a PTO powered vacuum trailer I've seen, don't know who makes them though.............

I don't know anything the model numbers or series of the Landpride, but $1,300 for 72" finish mower sounds like a bargain to me. I paid $1,695 for my 60" Bush Hog brand, and sure do like it, but I've heard nothing but good about the Landpride also.

I also have a 4100, and I likewise had this same problem with my R-4 tires. The fix for this is simple and won't cost you anything. Reverse your rear wheels so that the tires are farther apart. This will give you the hitch clearance you need and also more overall stability. Remember when you reverse the wheels to swap side to side, because tractor tires have directional tread patterns (when reversed, the valve stems will face inward). After reversal, you will gain an extra 3 inches on each side.

Mike - Also, sitting here thinking about floobie dust. If your floobie dust and my floobie dust are the same, I think you may have hit the nail on the head since this is the same employee of the jd dealer that checked out the tractor for me and said it was in great shape and everything worked very well(floobie dust).

I'm not familiar with that particular tractor, and I think the other guys have already answered your question, but it may not be as bad as it sounds. I ran my B7100 out of fuel once myself, and a neighbor did it again, and both times I bled the injectors at all 3 cylinders by self in about 10 minutes and was going again.

I am coming up on the scheduled 300 hr. hydraulic oil change for my<br> TC 33D. It is a fascinating moral question:
Should the burden fall on the customer? Doesn't he he have a moral obligation to educate himself at least enough to avoid obvious scams?
Or does the burden fall on the dealer? The argument being that he has specialized knowledge which morally he should use to protect the customer from these scams.
And not to be overlooking the possibility that the dealer is so deluded that he actually believes in this "snake oil"....and the very, very tiny possibility that the snake oil is actually works.....

Brent, Murf: Thanks for the note. Now that you mention it, when I think of a heavy loader, I do see cylinders outboard on the arms. As is often the case, cost is the explanation when something doesn't make a sense to me.

I've got a 1710 as well. I'm not sure a mid-PTO was available as an option for 1710's. At least I can't find anything about fixing them in my repair manual. However, I think that adding a mid-PTO would require replacing a lot of the tractor. Something like might be interesting if a tractor had some major damage and a lot had to be replaced anyway. Otherwise, I imagine the cost would be prohibitive. At any rate, my dealer thought he could set me up with a front blower if that's what I wanted, so I imagine that after-market equipment is available for 1710's. However, I was working to a pretty thin budget, and the rear PTO conversion kit would have blown it. Besides, I kind of like my 3ph blower, and I really like having the loader available without having to 'quick change' anything.

I don't know about the tractor. However, on my Ford 1710, I'm under the impression that the injection pump is fed oil from the crankcase. Maintenance instructions call for putting 100 cc's of new oil into a port on top of the pump as part of an oil change, but I thought that was just to clear used oil out of the pump body. Anyway, I think I could continue adding oil to the pump, and it would just fill up the crankcase. Maybe I'm wrong, but there's a chance that a problem doesn't exist.

There are sprays sold in ag supply stores that leave a light grease coating on parts. I don't think use of them is necessary for hydraulic cylinder shafts, but I use them anyway, sometimes. I use my loader around highway salt slush, and there isn't any corrosion on the shaft ends that aren't retracted into the cylinders. If highway salt doesn't corrode them, I'm not going to worry about it much.

JD4600 w/48 backhoe here. I like my little 'hoe but don't confuse it with an excavator or a dedicated TLB like a Case. I used it clear about an acre of heavy Maine woods for a homesite and it works SLOW. Part of it is due to my inexperience and the other part is that these little backhoes don't have much weight behind them so it is easy to lift your tractor when you are trying to pull a stump. I have no problems at all digging holes or trenches but if you plan on stumping be aware that it will be slow going. At about 7 grand for the hoe it is pretty expensive. I would check out a Kubota L48 for about 40K, they are suppose to be pretty heavy duty, or just buy a beat up old yellow backhoe for 10k that will out dig and and out stump a compact by a factor of about 10.

A local has been trying to sell his 30B industrial with no luck. It has a Perkins (I think) 4 cylinder diesel, hydro tranny, power steering, ROPS, Massey's rugged industrial loader, plus a six foot Gannon box blade and ripper with hydraulic tilt and level. It looks rough, everything is loose.... but it runs and works nicely. Everyone in town has used and abused it for years and it still gets right along. In high range it has a higher road gear than most Ag tractors. He has had to rebuild the motor several times because people using it for mowing have clogged the radiator and overheated it. Typical rebuilds run into the several thousands of dollars - and can go double that. The "20" was available in gasoline, don't know about the 30. Yes, this one has a 3pt and independent PTO. Not all did. I've shown it to a lot of guys who were tractor hunting because I like it....it is very low to the ground and heavily built. But most think it is ugly. I think it is beautiful. To each his own. It is much more suited for excavation than mowing a yard....Last Summer he was asking $6500.

Hey fellas, I'm looking at buying a Kubota L2500 (DT?)4wd that has an LA 450S loader on it. It has 143 hours on the meter. The guy selling it told me that it was a 1999 year model, and right now he's asking $11,800.00 for it. It doesn't appear to have been abused. <br>OK deal or not? I'd be using it for loading dirt, barnyard clean-up, etc., along with some rough mowing, tilling, etc.<br> I'm sort of new at this tractor-buying thing; any advice would be welcomed.

Regarding the PTO: The midmount and rear PTOs are separately controlled. Don't have a belly mower for my TC40D but my dealer told me that they always hook to the midmount PTO. NH belly mowers are not known for being the easiest to remove and put back on, but then it seems that most belly mowers are a pain to remove and put back on...
