have had a 445 for 2 yrs. it has 54 deck.not sure of your price because mine has 3pt hitch and hydro reliefe valve and ag tires.i was mowing about 4 acres and had no complaints with it.also used it with a 45 inch loader and 4 ft box.had a lot of hills and bumps. i would make same choice again, but have mo
ved to 10+ acres,so i may look at the 4100.good luck. p.s. consider the 60 in deck.

I have been distributing snowblowers for 10 years and there are several items that come in to play when determining the performance of the unit
1. diameter & depth of fan. the larger the blower, the bigger the fan.
2. a 4 blade fan is a must
3. the discharge chute. the chute should have an opening as large or larger
than the depth of the fan. Also, there should be no sharp angles close to the base of the chute. this causes a restriction in the discharge flow.
4. an enclosed oil bath gear box is preferred.
5. look beyond the trendy name brand,pretty paint & stickers and look at the construction of the unit.

We sell a blower made in Ontario, it out weighs many other units and sells for considerably less. We also guarantee the performance or will take it back. we have sold hundreds of these over the years and have never taken one back. I also have dealers that are big "Woods" dealers and after the nightmares they've had with the "Woods" blowers, have gone back to selling ours.

Mark, interesting you should say that about the noise. I can't see why any hydro would make noise....although some of them do. I wonder if it varies with the tractor? The NH that I tested was fairly quiet. The only noise that it had was a sort of whine like an electric motor. Is that the noise you heard? The Massey was also quiet - perhaps even quieter. And I honestly don't remember what the Kubota sounded like. Nothing noise-wise stood out one way or the other.

In the last 3 weeks I have welded up 2 blades for FEL. I copied the John Deere Quick Disconnect bucket feature, You pull 2 pins and set on the tractor and curl away from the bucket or blade. I mounted one blade on a John Deere 4400 and I am using the bucket curl for the power angle, This is my son-inlaws tractor and he wants to add a hyd remote so we can leave the bucket curl in operation. The 2nd FEL was on a Kubota B7100, I had to convert the bucket over to the John Deere Quick Disconnect bucket feature and then I welded up a frame to match the loader. We have about $450 in each one of these blades. One of the blades was a meyers truck blade and the other was a New Holland blade bought oof of this site. I have also welded up quick disconnect forks for FEL that are very handy to move brush or logs. Email if you have any questions larmar

Cliff, just for the record I use a 6ft rear blade on my JD4100. With R4's I can rotate the blade a full 360. Can't do it at full lift but the trick is to lower the blade some to level it out.

I got the 7260 in the Fall and did some rototilling with it. Since then have
pushed some downed tree limbs into piles and moved some snow around. I don't have too many hours on the unit yet but love it and it goes great. I am happy with my decision....seems like the perfect unit for our 14 acres; about 1/2 of which is currently cleared. Come Spring I plan to bush hog and roto till all 7 acres and put a couple acres into crops.....when not in the office I plan to be on the tractor!

Interesting idea. What do is I use full chain tensioners, its just a big rubber band with 5 clips that holds the chains good and tight. You can get the bands at just about any Auto parts store just ask for the chain tensioners that you use with full chains on cars and trucks depending on your tire size. I have had mine for almost 20 years and they are still working, cost about $5.00 for the pair.

Michigander, would also like to mention that besides the wealth of farming and conservation information that resides at your local NRCS/SCD office, chances are one of the SCD's board members lives near your farm. They often know who has pasture renovators in your neighborhood or can lead you to someone nearby who has similar equipment to get the job done that you want. Also, they usually can lead you to someone in your locale who has recently done the kind of (pasture) work you are desiring to do, and a phone call or two and a visit to that farm will get you set up with all of the information you need to do the job. Most importantly, when you visit that farm with similar field conditions as your farm, you get to see their results and how they came to be and can assess if that's what you want for your place.

Harold, It's been a number of weeks since my last post on this problem. I haven't been using the 1070 very hard but only to clean up a building site and rake the chewed up areas left by trucks before the ruts freeze hard. The cold weather has brought with it less problematic shifting but range shifting is never what I would call smooth, especially going into low. It's odd that a new machine would act the same way. Perhaps my tractor has alway been that way as well while changing ranges. As far as the gear shifting goes, It has smoothed out a little but is not as smooth as when I purchased it. My dealer told me to adjust the clutch a little more and so I will. Good luck.

Brad many manufacturer's have used the wheel spacers before for chains. Try looking for some older dealers that might have a set in stock as left overs.

Roger if it was only a 10% discount off retail than I guess no one would buy a used one because I give better discounts on the new than the 10% off and I believe that most dealers are in the same boat as I except for a few. Often time a late model used is only 10% of the new discounted price and yes at that it can be tougher to decide.

I mounted a very similar $20.00 three gauge set on my Yanmar and they have worked fine for 10 years. In fact, I was repacing 3 independent VDO gauges I installed on the first go-around. They worked, but the cost!....ouch...I don't even want to remember. VDO's rubber mounting bezel alone cost close to $100.00. But the VDO couldn't stand the vibration and shook apart.. The $20 dollar subminiature set are better qualitiy in every way. As near as I can tell they are just as accurate. Probably more so since they are not falling apart.
I mounted the temp and pressure senders in a threaded brass "T" screwed into the block so that I could have both the original warning lights and the gauges too.

I have a 1987 Massey Ferguson 1030 and a Massey Ferguson 1016 loader. It works great. I have filled the rear (turf) tires with CaCl to improve traction and reduce load on front wheel drive. The loader seems to have plent of power and speed. The only thing I notice is that the bucket tilting is slow when the engine is idling.

I just wanted to say that I ordered a 4300 R-4, mid PTO,MFWD,foldable ROPS, block heater, and 3 SCV. Attachments include a #74-66" front blade and a GB loader #260 with quick tach bucket and bucket level indecater. I traded my 855,loader,54" front blade and 60" mid mount belly mower. I certainly didn't mean any disrespect to Power Kings. Apparently they were, and if properly maintained, still are great pieces of equipment. I've not had to do any major repairs, but I keep having irritating small repairs. That may largely be due to how the equipment was maintained. The engines stall whenever they get hot. I'm not sure where I can get replacement parts. The mower deck is in bad shape and again I'm not sure where to find parts. Anyway let me respectfully thank all those who have offered their opinions.
