Len,<br>Check the operating lever to ensure it is not in the full lift position. I know this sounds simple, but my 1710 does the same thing your 1300 is doing if I let the lever go to full lift.<br>Did anyone turn the flow control valve off?<br>Good luck and let us know what you find.<br> <br>

The current year model 4020 weighs 840 lbs., but the brochure does not indicate if this is with deck or not. This is the same weight range as that of the JD 425. I believe all 4020 series came with a Category

A rear PTO for the tiller is optional on current models.
If the tractor you are looking at has power steering, it is a "4020PS" and weighs 25 lbs. more. My cross-street neighbor at our vacation home has had an Ingersoll for years now--he's a Stihl/Snapper dealer, so I expect he selected based on the Ingersoll's quality. They are stout, and I'd buy one in a heartbeat if we had a dealer local. And thanks for the info on the front loader--the rumor was one would soon be available. "> Ingersoll 4000 series Any opinions

Hi,<br>One of the biggest problems is just turning over. Use synthetic oil and you get past this.<br>Next use an anit-gelling additive for the fuel. Then allow plenty of time for the glow start,<br>make sure they all work, then you should be fine.<br>Todd

I purchased a Ford 1600 with 427 hours on it. Almost site unseen. It was in a dark garage, but looked in good real good shape. It came with a factory fron dozer blade with full hydraulics. I was just doing this person a favor, because she wanted to get rid of it. Is it 4WD? Do they come that way? It is diesel, is that good or bad. It came with a Woods 5ft finish 3pt finish mower also. She needed to get $3000.00 out of it. Now...What's it worth $1,000. I hope I can at least say I didn't get the total shaft. I pick it up tomarrow, should I be sad or happy to get this tractor?? I can understand a dealer giving priority to units he sold. And have no problem what so ever with them servicing a comercial users tractor before mine. As for not doing the work at all... I think refusing to do warranty work could have repercussions from the manufacturer being represented. I'm not sure I would want someone with this mentality to work on my tractor anyway. Who knows if they would do it properly. I'm glad I don't have to deal with someone like this.<br>Jeff in NC

Our 4300 has 49hrs on it and no problems at all, it pulls full rpms in C range, i drove it to a nearby gas station the other day and was impressed with the way it flew, i even got to use the cruise control button. overall no complaints, (except maybe a larger cup holder!)

Just how tought is steering a

That very fact (that entry level Kubotas and New Hollands don't have PS)
has kept me from making a decision.
I don't plan on serious front loader work for my tractor purchase,
mostly grass care and snow removal, with some light farmwork.
It it reasonable to move snow with a front loader w/o PS?

<br>A straight 3 pt. hoe will tear your tractor in two.Look for bushing wear at the joints.if there is slop.they will need to be replaced.A frame mount is a lot better but beware that you don't put more into it than you can get back.

I recently purchased a Deere 855 with turf tires. I did not expect it to have traction to do much outside of the yard, but what they will pull is very surprising. I, too, work on deer food plots, and I farm for a living. I would have never thought this tractor would handle a 6 ft. heavily built harrow, but it will pull it deep enough to turn under well. It did require 250 lbs. of front wieghts and filling the front tires with water to balance. Getting back to the point, I did not really want turf tires when I bought the tractor, but I would heartily recommend them now. If nothing else, the rear tire size on mine is 33-12.50-15, so I could go buy some Super Swampers if I get tired to the turfs.

I allready have a new tractor, A friend of mine was looking at this one, we had occasion to use it doing loader work and grading.<br>My thoughts on the matter were that the owner was asking way to much. I tried to get the blue book value off the web, but I think I have to buy a membership from the website to get it. Thought I would run it past the ever helpful Compact Tractor Message Board folks.

I too am trying to make the same decision. Putting aside price, I like the JD 4300 because it can accomodate a much more powerful backhoe (about a 1000 lbs more digging force). The JD also has a fully independant PTO which to me is a big negative against the TC29 unless you pony up for Hydro. Plus the 4300 weighs 3-400lbs more than the NH. Factoring in price, I have been qouted $17,100 for a JD 4300 w/ sync reverse and 420 bucket. Is this a good price from your experience? Also was qouted about $6,200 for the 48 series backhoe, but have been thinking that instead maybe I should just buy an old fullsize backhoe for $10k or so and be able to do some real digging, plus be able to move alot more stuff with the bucket. Has anyone else faced a similar dilema? Part of the reason I wanted to go with a new tractor was so that I didn't have to spend most of my free time fixing an old one. Question is would I be signing up to do just that if I picked up a 20 year old fullsize backhoe? Bottom line it's tuff to justify going for the whole enchilada with one tractor...
