I too am looking for somewhere to get suggested retail pricing on a JD 4400 and numerous accessories. If anyone knows where I can find pricing on snowblowers, front and rear blades and loaders plus the tractor I would sure appreciate hearing about it. Thanks

I bought mine about a week ago. I already have 12 hours on it, Grading and loader work, I love the tractor. I did not have a need for back hoe at this time either, if I did, I would have gone with the B2100

Jim think about your post for a minute. I know what your saying and I agree to an extent. Lets say you went out and bought a new JD4300 and the rated lift 24 inches behind the links is 2200 lbs. Ok you have an implement that weighs say 1900 lbs. and you hook it up and go to do a good days work. Well your proud of your new tractor and your buddy is standing there when you go to lift the equipment, and your new tractor peters out. Whoa what the heck do you do,. call the dealer and complain? Most likely!!! And what if the dealer says,

I've been shopping and have narrowed it down to a JD 4300 or a New Holland TC33. Am definitely leaning toward the Deere but it's more money, $17,200 w/ bucket and reverse sync tranny vs. $16,500 on the NH (including $1,200 in freight). With the New Holland it would be worth my while to buy from Ritchie Tractors in Tennessee and ship to Washington State. Does the same scenario play out with Deere dealers? Are there Deere dealers that can beat everyone else's prices to the point that it is worth paying freight to buy it from them? Also, how come there are no tractor brokers like there is with cars and/or internet buying services? Anyways, your thoughts or comments on how to get the best pricing would be appreciated and I am not shy about getting service at a dealer that did not sell me the machine. BTW, I can get a Mitsubishi Cub Cadet 1760 (26hp) for a couple of grand less, any thoughts on how this would stack up against the Deere and NH machines of 33 hp?

Yes and no. The subframe extends forward to the middle of the tractor and is attached to the frame for the front end loader there. Then, you remove the arms from your 3-point and the hoe attaches to the pins right at the tractor. You also attach a bar from under the hoe seat to the center of the 3-point.<br>The other thing that I have heard is that the subframe protects the frame of the tractor from torque (twisting) forces. A year or so ago, I saw a post where the writer said a hoe twisted his tractor nearly in half.<br>That helped me make my decision to purchase the subframe.<br>So yes, some of the weight is still on the 3-point, but not on the arms, only on the pins very close to the frame. And, a lot of the weight (and torque) is held by the subframe.<br>I am still concerned about the overall weight of the hoe on the tractor and keep it off when not using often. When I take it off, the tractor says

Thanks for the information Bill. I have talked to several dealers and all have said the industrial tires are not an option on the 790. I even had one dealer said he tried to find industrial tires for the 790 but he did not have any luck. I think I could have been content with a 790 with industrial tires but I agree with you that it looks like the 4200 is more tractor even if has fewer horsepower. I may go the extra step and go with a 4300 unless I can find a deal like you are getting. Thanks again.

I have no experience of sync reverser or JD - though we are looking at JD as a possible replacement for our ageing and much used B1750HST which has just moved and spread 210 tons of gravel in 2 weeks. We did the calculation on how many forward-reverse shifts you do in loader work and went for HST. No regrets at all and it has held up well in our work here on a 25 acre private garden in Wales. I guess repairs could be expensive but we only had one problem some years ago which was fixed O.K. HST is a great help in pushing in to get a full bucket and the smooth control of motion is just what you need with that full bucket on bumpy ground.

I agree w/ JLW about the belly mower (see previous post), especially since you said your land is very hilly...you might "bottom out". I bought the Bush Hog 48" rotary cutter to cut about 3 acres of pasture. Have about 3/4 to 1 acre front yard that I may try to cut w/ it...after all it'll cut down to about 1.5".
Otherwise I have an old lawn tractor...

I bought a King Kutter a couple of weeks ago, 60

at Quality Farm & Fleet. Its much heavier that the other - I think it weighs in
at 690#. Seems to work pretty well so far.

WOW! I recently started looking for a compact tractor. I had no idea that it was going to be such a difficult task. Understanding the different options, manufacturers and capabilities may even be more difficult than buying a home computer. The high point of my search was finding the Compact Tractor Message Board. Most of the message threads have served to educate me in what I need to be looking for. Thanks Again. Hopefully in a few months I will be able to contribute more useful information.
