I lubed the zerks, put an extra cover over the hyd connectors, oil-sprayed the metal, and covered with a tarp. (Knew it wouldn't make a difference but I felt better.) Preventing condensation is hard because you can't fill every air space. But it's easy to detect water when you're using it, so watch for it and be prepared to change the fluid.

I have a B2410 that I got in 2001 or 2, it has performed flawlessly since I got it, However this year I have had the threaded rod that connects the attachment lever to the lift arm break. I got a replacement one, had to order it of course, took 2 weeks, tractor out of commission until then, and replaced it, All was good, got the grass cut, parked it, and it sat for a few weeks. Went out today to mow down some weeds and halfway through, lift stopped working again, sure enough, the rod snapped again, this time I can see that is was bent prior to snapping. I have NO idea what is causing this to bend. I am using the same attachments that I have had on it since I got it 12+ years ago. <br>

Any thoughts on why its bending? It goes from a lever attached to the hand lever and goes through a link on the right lift arm, and is held on by two nuts.

I doubt that you have over tightened. As was said before the back bends and forward bends will kill a belt if it's not flexible for the application Kevlar or not.

I buy 2-300 various sizes of belts for our straight up sheaves. I have tried a couple of the high end belts on my deck they do not last but a few mowings.

Bought the factory specific belt and it's on there for 3 or 4th season now.

The other possible thought is: you have to much HP to deck mowing too heavy a grass to fast.

Almost certainly clutch related, but not enough info to speculate further. Are you familiar with the principle of a two stage clutch?

I am not aware of any source for that data unless a Massey dealer. If it has options as to buckets that would also affect it. kt

If you see the show Mountain Men, have you seen the woodburning pickup Eustace Conway has? Not kidding. Not sure how popular it will be for seemed based upon the one show I saw it on it uses a good bit of wood. No idea how long it has to be light before you can drive it. But, a wood buring pickup! kt

It will prevent how far up the cutter tilts. As the cutter tilts up it pushes the pto shaft towards or even into the rear end of the tractor. Will have same result as using too long a pto shaft.

Well it does on my implements. Now if there is a chain in the third arm linkage it probably would not. kt

There is a lever on the right hand side of the seat. if that is not most of the way back it will not raise your 3pt hitch. I hope this helps. Also check to see if the gear lever for the hydraulic is engaged. That is located on the right hand side just outside the cab on the hydraulic oil tank.

I can not lift the loader at all. I can tilt the bucket both ways with no issues. What would be causing it not to lift up?<br>

In follow up I did use annual rye grass and it did very well. Love cutting grass when it is in the 30's. <br>
But so far this years it has been very rainy. We have had an inch plus almost every week and so far this month are about 11 1/2 inches. Boy is my mower having hard time keeping my zoysia cut! Looks good and have had the most blueberrys every and grapes are also looking good. Learned need to set up watering for the blue berries.kt

It has been recommend it in such as case try jumping it to run out battery and it's connections. If you have someone helping you turn on the lights and ask them how they do when you try starting it.

But with the work you were doing my guess is you pulled a safety switch wire loose or causes one to slip out of proper adjustment. kt

Checking the fuel line to the carb I had to take off the plate that the air cleaner mounts on. There is a hose that goes from the manifold and ends at the mouth of the carb. What does it do? It was rotted and just fell apart.

For the gas engines: drain the oil overnight,this part will sound strange,trust me.it works................put the drain plug back in.............<br>
drag you shop-vac over to the truck and stick the suction hose on the OIL FILL TUBE...turn on the shop vac,let it run a few minutes...get under the truck and use a good cleaner........brake cleaner works great,clean it really good then use a wire brush to remove any loose rust or dirt,clean it again with brake cleaner the use either or permetex item called "the right stuff"gasket maker,it comes in a tube like caulking.<br>
Get you caulkikng gun and a heavy pair of rubber gloves don't use the thin gloves this stuff is thick and sticky!<br>
Get under the truck and "smear"a good,heavy coat on the oil pan,smooth it up with you hands,don't cover the drain plug!<br>
I always let it set for about an hour with the shop vac runnig...tighten the oil plug,add oil,check for leaks....I found this on youtube a while back but couldn't find it today.<br>
I have done two of my trucks and two for friends and they have never leaked.<br>
Oh yeah,the shop vac creates vacum in the engine and keeps residual oil from ieaking out and contaminating you patch material......JB weld works,I prefer "the right stuff" 'cause ya don't have to mix anything and it cures reall fast.

I called Discount Tractor and got the torque specs. needed and the rocker or valve lash setting from them.
Ingrid was very helpful with the info. and told me that this nortrac nt254 is a jimam ( or however it's bloody well spelt ) brand tractor under the northern brand
and she gave me the wix pt.#s for the oil and Fuel filters VERY NICE OF HER

Converting an old 4x2 Gator to electric...<br>
I'm trying to convert an old gas 4x2 gator to electric drive.<br>
I'm debating how to connect the motor to the transmission. I could do it any one of 3 ways:<br>
<br>
1. Remove the secondary clutch and use a chain drive to connect the motor and trans shafts.<br>
2. Keep the secondary clutch and drive the cogged belt with the motor.<br>
3. Keep the secondary clutch and drive the cogged belt with the old primary clutch to the motor.<br>
<br>
Any thoughts on the best way?<br>

My 824D Ford tractor which has always had good oil pressure even at idle suddenly lost all pressure on the gauge.No unusual engine noise so I replaced the pressure gauge.No pressure indicated. With gauge line open,engine running, oil would only ooze out with no pressure. Removing the oil pump proved it to be in good shape with both relief valve and its spring moving freely.I stretched the spring aprox. one quarter inch before assembly. No change in running pressure. Pulled the valve cover to check the rocker arm lube tubes which are in place. Removed the oil filter and plumbed an air line to the block oil galley and think I can hear air escaping under the valve lifter cover on the right side of the block behind the injector pump. Not having a service manual, I am blindly going through this so I decided to ask for some advice.<br>
