Just wondering, how did your seal repair go?

I am not sure how much I like electronics on equipment that is suppose to work in harsh environment. They are nice and look pretty and when working can be very good but how well they hold up and when an issue it becomes an issue that can stop the machine with the mechanical gauges most anyone could find and fix and it did not shut it down either.

I have Volvo excavator having fought this fight for about four years now. kt

That is the max rated HP for it. Now will your tractor be large enough, will really depend on a few things: what are you cutting, how fast will you be driving and how wide you are cutting.

The hp of your tractor will NOT handle 6 foot cut if heavy or thick material is being cut nor at fast speed. If you try using it and having issues with lack of hp for the cutter then slow down and take narrow cut width. A four foot cutter would be about what you would probably find match hp rating for your tractor. BE sure you are running your tractor at the recommend rpm to get full 540 PTO rpm for your cutter. kt

Is this air conditioning in your house or other building or on a piece of equipment? How do you know it is using "much more energy"?
What have you done to check or service it? If it has filters have those been changed?
Is the weather hotter than normal where you are?

Unless you know A/C systems and have the equipment the recommendation for professions is proper. A small screwup can increase repair cost.

Dennis,

Yes, our snow has melted, but the rain doesn't seem to stop. We've visited the tree pile twice over the past two weeks. The mud is at least ankle deep around what remains of those trees. It appears as though it may be August before we'll be able to get in there without getting stuck.

I'll keep you posted.

I remember back in the late 70's early 80's we were the northeast distributer for Same tractors. It seemed that while coming across in the early days that the salt air would get into the clutch housing and rust up the shafts. Although I can only remember having to split a couple in our shop normally a high gear run and hitting the brakes would jar them loose.
It does sound like yours is a bad one and I'd recommend splitting so your costs might be lower possibly not having worn out the clutch disc yet.

Which 420 do you have? Is it a lawn and garden tractor from the 80's or a two cylinder utility tractor from the late 50's?

You are correct. THe short, short, short, long code is for the throttle position sensor voltage out of range. When this code is active, that load match is disabled and that is why your symptoms go away. A thought just occurred to me.. Maybe you should check all of your engine mounting hardware. If the side frame bolts or bell housing bolts are loose, it might allow enough flexing of engine in the frame while turning to cause the flywheel sensor to malfunction. If bolts are all tight, I would replace the engine speed sensor, or at least swap the mfwd sensor and flywheel sensor to see if anything changes.

have a John Deere XUV 4 X 4 Diesel Gator.
The first few years the little Kawasaki engine performed flawlessly and the engine still starts and gives no trouble.
Then, the fan would kick on and the overheat warning light would come on followed by a loss of power and the engine dying until it cooled off. The next annual dealer service included their fix for the OVERHEATING PROBLEM. They changed the thermostat and replaced the water pump. That did not fix the problem. I took the machine back to them and the fix this time was: COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
After reading some on line fixes, I tried the air relief at the bolt behind the carburetor. This would help for about a week and then the problem would repeat even on a cold winter day. I tried several other John Deere dealers for a solution. The best they could come up with was there was air getting into the cooling system some way. I should look for a loose hose connection or leaking radiator. The Gator is parked on a cement slab and no leaking was ever detected. All of the hoses looked to be in great shape.
I finally found an old retired small engine repair mechanic and he guaranteed he would fix the problem for me. He did the usual air bleed at the engine (like I had done many times) and showed me how to tell of the water was circulating: “stand at the left front of the Gator with the hood open after the Gator has been warmed up. The with your hand facing forward slide you arm down until you can feel the bottom radiator hose”. If the hose is warm, the cooling fluid is circulating. If the hose is not warm then the water is not circulating. I figured the problem was fixed. But, the Gator overheated again as soon as I got it home. This overheating was occurring within a mile of travel.
When I talked to the shade tree mechanic again, he asked me if I was checking the cooling level by opening the radiator’s cap. I SAID YES. THAT IS YOUR PROBLEM HE SAID. EVERY TIME YOU OPEN THE RADIATOR TO LOOK IN, YOU LET IN A SLUG OF AIR. He suggested I buy a new radiator cap and once again bleed the air at the engine. Then NEVER OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP UNLESS YOU ARE CHANGING THE FLUID.

His approved method of checking the cooling fluid is to look at the overflow tank. Keep the fluid between the two lines and make sure the rubber transfer hose is not sticking to the bottom of the tank and preventing fluid from sucking back into the system from the overflow tank. I replace the radiator cap and once again bleed the air out of the system. I made sure the overflow tank was between the lines and the return line was an inch off of the bottom of the tank.

I HAVE HAD NO FURTHER PROBLEMS FOR THE LAST SIX MONTHS.

Crunch I had considered buying a 3ph core aerator to hire out as it can be used as for overseeding as well.

They are a bit pricey though, and homeowners do not really understand the benefits that well and need to be educated. Other issue is that the core aerator can and will cut dog invisible fences and irrigation lines, so you need a contract that does not hold you liable up front. That will probably turn off most customers....:(

I just joined the Pats Quick Hitch bandwagon. Works nicely on my debris blower and rake. I am waiting to see how it works on my 925lb 3pt snowblower. Will update this post when I try it out.

I don't think planting over the field has any issues "EXCEPT" soil preparation. You would have to be very careful not to disturb the filters above the stone. Doing that would allow silt into the leach bed and that would cause some problems down the road.

Many places use all types of "FERTILIZER" including human, cow, horse and others. I think I'd like to at least see it composted for a year before I use it.

treeman, thanks for the link. So we know a diesel can run away using it's own fuel or another source from within the machine such as this one or another outside source I think we were told of like propane in the air. Think I am going to review ways to kill one.

I know the one I was around was a brand new start up in an OEM plant. Totally cold engine, using it's own fuel but throttle control locked fully open. But with an outside source of fuel is it more an issue with a hot engine? Or will diesels run fine on all those fuel sources at anytime?

Hi, am new to the forum, I have a 83 Belarus 900 which seems to be leaking water from a seal around 2 of the injectors.<br>
Not sure if the injectors have a water jacket around them and the seal has just gone or this is an indication of a more serious issue.<br>
If anyone has any info on this or has experienced this before I would be greatful to hear from you.<br>
