In this case, where the trees are down and about to be burned, salvaging as much firewood in the shortest time possible is my goal. I won't be tackling any trees that will cost me more time than they're worth.

Some of these trees have root balls that are suspended well above the ground, as they're laying atop other trees. I'll avoid all such situations. If those trees happen to fall to the ground after removing some others, I'll certainly go back for them, but it's not necessary. There's more firewood available than one man could possibly harvest in an entire year, let alone a month or two.

The goal here is to fill my firewood bins for the upcoming winter (Did I just say "WINTER"?), and then harvest as much as possible for the next year, as a bonus.

Standard saw chain will work just fine. These trees haven't been dragged through the dirt. They were tipped over on top of one another, creating a tangled mess, but the bark is clean.

Eye and face protection is a must. Dead branches are hard, stiff as nails, and they bite. If not for the fact that our summers are so short, I'd rather harvest living trees, but that would require two full years of curing before they could be burned.

I thought I'd pass this along to our members here.

SPLIT-EZ builds the best splitters I've ever seen. They install oil coolers on their larger models.

This one has a thermostat, which energizes the cooling fan when oil temps exceed 140 degrees F.

Boy I wish knew as much about my families as some of you do. Have no idea how long any of my family has been in the US and not 100% sure where from. Based upon what I know all from Great Britain.

I live about 30 miles from where my Daddy grew up and also his Mama and Dad and up to 50 miles from where my Mama grew up as she moved some due to her family being sharecroppers a few years.

There was 5 of us children, all three girls ended up miles away with one due to disability and the other to thanks to marring Military. Us two boys knew enough to live one each side of our Mama and did so for many years. Now I have moved about 5 miles from there and my brother about 1 mile.

I am blessed my two girls and their families live within 10 miles of us and eat Sunday dinner every other week with us.

My wife, well we now live on land that was her great granddaddy and less than 1/2 mile from where she grew up.

I have enjoyed all areas of this great county have been able to visit (the country part not the big cities) and believe each would be great in it's own way to live there. But it is true, home is where the heart is.

I know many who have moved here from up north and find some of their thoughts interesting and find some gave great thought to it and others did so on a whim. Find many find family and friends near by to be cherished as health passes from us.

I am thankful for those who did pick up and move to this land called America.

You should visit the site "nospill.com" for a nice gas can. They are expensive but you need to buy one. More than likely you will purchase several. I have 3 of the 2 1/2 gallon for filling quads, snowmobiles and scooters. They aren't too heavy to lift and the no-spill really works and vents well.

I think you will find 40 hp sufficient for a single shank subsoiler running a pass or two lowering the lift with each pass. You may be able to pull it at full depth on first pass depending on the soil and as pointed out by Hardwood on rocks and roots.

It is your wire, your tractor and your dog: having done electrical work I would never try to pull that cable that far for fear of damage to the insulation. A sharp rock is as good as any knife edge. It may be 100% fine and again it may not be and not show up till it rains.

The Maintenance Manual on the CK30 shows 3 drain points for the hydraulic oil, 2 just inside the tires and one below the PTO. I can find the 2 inside the tires but I don't have one where the 3rd point is shown. I find what looks like a 30mm drain plug on a plate just in front of the 2 tires on the bottom of the transmission. I just want to be sure this is the 3rd plug before pulling it.

Thanks Joel,

I should have remembered that the return line carries little pressure. I plan on using 1" hose for both the suction side and return side, and am still trying to locate a used radiator or trans cooler in our area.
I'm also using a 15 gallon tank, which should handle anything I'll be doing, again in the future.

They go in the heater hose, and presumably your Komatsu has a cab heater. The flow is directional thru the tank heater, and you want water from the heater to enter the engine block first. From there, you install it at the lowest point in the hose. If that's not mechanically feasible, install it in the lowest spot on the return hose (coolant coming back from the cab and returning to the engine).<br>

If you actually meant "inline radiator hose heater", disregard all of the above. They go insice the bottom radiator hose.<br>

I have a 2003 TH 6X4 Diesel gator. I replaced the glow plugs and relay, started and ran great until last week.<br>

The fuel solenoid smoked. I replace the solenoid and the battery. Started and ran for a day, then smoked as a started it the next day and put into gear.<br>

Both times, when the fuel solenoid went out, it smoked a lot. It also happened both times as I put it into forward. It kept running, but wouldn't start after I shut it off. I'm sure the pull out portion of the solenoid is fried, but can't figure out why.<br>

The yellow wires from the differential switch are warm to the touch, which seems odd. If I unplug the solenoid connector, the wires don't get hot.<br>

I've never timed the glow plugs, but it's about 5 seconds and the time doesn't seem to be temperature-dependent. When it's 20 or below it takes maybe 10 seconds of cranking before the engine runs by itself. Above 40 or 50, it'll start within a turn or two.

Right now, I'm using 10W30 semi-synthetic, but I've used full synthetic in the past. My owner's manual (I have a 7305; manual covers 7260,7265&7300 as well) says 10W30 CD(or better) is correct for -4 to 86 F.

That was always my goal to have a rear blower for the 4310, but new ones were getting pricey, so it didn't happen.
When we farmed I had a Case 1070, about a hundred HP tractor with a Westendorf loader and an eight foot blower on the back, so I knew what the loader, blower combination could do.
