Larry,

I have a subsoiler with a conduit welded to the back side, behind the liquid fertilizer (anhydrous ammonia)knife, which replaces the single bottom plow that was on there originally.

Picture above.

I run two passes with the subsoiler before laying cable. This gets my knife down as deep as the 3-point hitch will drop. I then lay the power cable on the third pass. The wire is fed in by hand, in my case, with my son spooling it off as I go. A larger feed tube is probably needed for your application.

My ancestors settled here from Germany in 1857. Sold the farmland around it but still own 1 3/4 acres of the original homestead. It gets passed down from generation to generation. My daughter is currently living in the home that was built in 1970 but is relocating for a job about 90 miles away. Don't know long term if we will keep it. Also own another parcel of farmland a mile down the road that has been in the family for 100 years. I live 10 miles away in town but may move back in the next couple of weeks. About a mile away, one road carries the family name.

Cutting the cord is probably the future of the home entertainment market.

Yet right now I have to admit it is one of those mixed metaphors where as a attempting to be a pioneer or ahem cost saver, you wind up spending more money on other things.

Much as my father laughed at me 20 years ago with my wood stove firewood cutting penchant. He enumerated all the costs, work, and injuries sustained in the name of saving money on heat. Pickup truck, chain saw, splitter, wood stove, chimney, hours and hours of hauling and stoking. And the inevitable accident like crushing my finger in the log splitter.... Or my neigbor burning his house down jsut before Xmas.

So on cord cutting my high end Laptop has now become a permanent entertainment center in the family room, so I cannot use it in my office. So I got a desktop for my office that I am running Linux on. So when I need something on my laptop like Office 2013, I remote access the laptop. To make the network better for streaming I replaced by aging router with the Netgear Nighthawk ac1900 r7000 for $200. Then I canceled by land line and DSL and got high speed cable at 50MB for $120.....

So as you can see you can really save money by staying with your current cable or satellite provider rather than cutting the cord.... hey but I am having so much fun with all these gadgets, for this much entertainment I would have to spend much much more or would I ?

Of the 2000+ people who live in our county, about 15% are what we call "Snow Birds".

They go south for the winter....coming home only to plant their crops and tend to their gardens for the summer. Once harvest is done, they head back to Yuma, Phoenix, and other points near the Mexican border.

We usually see our first snowflakes around Oct. 3 of each year. It doesn't melt. It's not warm enough to begin melting until around the first week of April. Last year we didn't get any melting days until May 11.

I heard yesterday that it is no longer possible to go ice fishing in our area without first putting an extension on the ice auger. My auger is 4 feet long, but the ice is now nearly 5 feet thick on our local lake.

Generally speaking, it's too cold for snow most of the winter. We get our heaviest snowfalls between now and the end of April. So far this year, we've received 47 inches of snow. We can expect another 30 inches or so before the temps warm enough to let it begin melting.

My nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile east of me. My next neighbor to the east is 11 miles away. North of me there's a neighbor about 5 miles away. To the west of us is the little town of Cando, which is the biggest city in our county, with a population of about 900 folks. About half of the county's population lives in Cando, which is 1 mile square.

As for these tree rows, I think I'd like a skidding winch mounted on the tractor, to be used for nothing more than holding/securing the trees in place while they're being cut. Once the branches have been removed and the root balls cut off, the logs could be pulled to the edge of the pile for recovery.

There's no question that this is going to be a lot of work. But, as you can probably see from the pictures, firewood is a precious commodity where I live. It's worth working for.....so long as I can do it safely.

Working in the snow is impossible. I have no access to the work site, but by sled, or on foot.

I took the guts out of my new spout a couple of weeks ago. Pours fine but at least mine was two parts and now leaks where joined. Was just pushed together. Guess I need to glue it.

Glad you are feeling better, the cold weather up north has led to much more use than usual. But the left over ice and snow and crazy cold looks like a slow start to spring use in March, probably little to do until it melts ...

and as far as the ground I am driving over, its basically after I've moved some of the snow or all of it.

I will get the turf tires and see how those improve traction.

It is just a little thinner then the regular udt with possibly a flow enhancer added. When in the cold it is a big advantage. I had great respect for the IH or Case IH Hytran fluid from the success we had with it even in JD tractors for improvements in cold weather operation but the Super UDT is better yet. We do also have our own generic type hydraulic fluid that we sell to people looking for a price. It doesn't compare to either for cold operation but for a farmall M or 8n ford what more do we need?

1)Get a restoration kit for the tractor<br>
2)Get as much documentation and manuals as you can<br>
3)get or borrow all tools and measurement micr etc.<br>
4)take pictures as you go, keep notes<br>
5)come up with a way that you plan to store all nuts and bolts etc. A magnetic dish is a good idea to hold onto stuff before you put them in sandwich bags with labels my favorite :(<br>
6)say a prayer and hope all goes well<br>
7) look up therapist if you have problems

I have a 1920 New Holland with front end loader and several implements, with Turf Tires, front and rear. My finish Mower is a 72 inch Woods, which is awesome, then I have a woods bushhog that is a 60 inch. When I use the 60" bushhog it just does a terrible job, due to the width of my rear tires. I would not suggest buying any mower that is not at least as wide as your rear tire paths, but mine is only an opinion. I would spend just a little more and get the wider cut, because that way you know exactly what it will look like.

In terms of most use I must say the forks on the FEL are definitely it.

A close second is the rear blade, it's hefty enough (485 pounds) to act as a decent counterweight and with full motion hydraulics it's super easy to operate, so it's on the rear until I need some other tool.

After that, in order of use are; utility bracket for FEL, wood-splitter, wood chipper, box blade, scarifier, rake, post hole auger.

That is good to hear! I have always thought of Kioti as the Korean Twin of Kubota. Just like Hyundai was the twin of Honda.

I think if Kioti had not gone through all the transformation from Kubota Orange to Bobcat Black and White and back we would probably have a different market today.

But all these changes take their toll and just get the consumer confused about whether buying that brand is a good idea or not.

If you can shop around at other dealers for their estimates.

It is a significant job to undertake so if you are not eager to screw with it, you are kinda stuck.

I don't know the model or the year but a friend bought a Bobcat compact with loader on a auction a couple years ago and has been happy with it. He has put it to good use clearing some old fencerows and recently digging a medium sized pond. He is a retired farm equipment mechanic and welder, so likely can do most all the service but where will he find parts?
