Was cleaning tank and trying to replace new hyd fluid. Old filter inside tank had lost screen from off it. Am mounting screw on filter adapter so can replace filter regularly. After attaching to tractor there is no fluid pumping. Not sure pump is not working properly. Should I disassemble pump to determine if pump needs to be reworked.

The way you worded that Murf makes it seem like ISO-labeled hydraulic fluids have no anti-wear additives, which is seldom true. Click the example below to see what I mean. This product is called AW150, but the 150 has nothing to do with the viscosity. Their AW150 comes in ISO32, 46. and 68. Other companies shortcut that labeling method and simply label them as AW32 or 46 or 68 or 100, which equates them to the respective ISO viscosity. <br>

Tractor hydraulics aren't that particular that they'd know the difference. So - in dual sump tractors - I personally used AW32 and ISO32 labeled hydraulic oils interchangeably. Single sump tractors don't use either. They use UTF, which isn't conspicuously labeled as either AW [i]or[/i] ISO.<br>

Most all of the farm supply stores like TSC will have a spreader very similar to the one you liked and sometimes but not always less expensive than Deere. A lot of the smaller equipment that Deere sells now is branded Frontier, check the Deere website for lawn equipment.

I have changed the fluid to hyd. aw-46 and cleaned the filter in the drive unit. Opened the banjo fitting at the lt. side of selector valve housing, there is fluid at that point.I did not remove fitting,because I did not know hyd. psi with this being the pressure line off the hyd. pump. RPM's did not help.

I'd be surprised at a shortage this time of year. I suspect a couple of local outfits got caught off guard with the cold weather.

Here in the GTA there's no shortage, nor up in Muskoka. I've had deliveries in both locations in the past couple weeks. Large ones too.

I agree it appears to be around the drive shaft and it is hydraulic oil. I did change the fluid before the winter and filled it up with the specified capacity give or take a bit. I get what you are saying that the oil has to thin out, and it only drips after the tractor has warmed up and used. Once it is parked and cools down and I wipe off the around the inspection plate there are no more drips. I just hope it doesn't get worse before the end of the winter because I need it for snow removal so it can't be sitting in a shop for a week.

It has been years since I worked with welding inspection so may be off here, but it looks like right at a weld. If it is look for damage to the metal itself such as base metal being cut out with the welding itself and thus weakening it. Think it is called undercut and should be easy to see with paint off of it. At same time the metal may had a weak area there and it just took time for it to flex enough to break.

I suspect the shock loads that frame gets is more from driving over rough road then digging would be.

I got the new valve and put it in. Still no 3pt, but I am getting flow past the valve now. I'm going to have to tear 3pt box down again. I had part of the distributor block I couldn't get apart, it's pressed in. I'll take it to a hydraulic shop, surely they would have the tools to get it apart. Larry.
