Mike, Sorry to burst your bubble -BUT if you think that you had axle problems with the Jeep, wait until you get some use on your Chevy. I work for a federal land management agency, and we have a fleet of about 75 4wd trucks at my location, which we use daily in rough field conditions. EVERY CHEVY has been into the shop to have front ball joints, axles, CV joints, drivelines, and tie rods replaced. True enough we do use them rougher than the average user, BUT our Fords and Dodges do not have these problems. By the way, we also have a few Jeeps and these do not give us any problems either.

I'm starting to clear 2 acres of my 5 total acres of wooded land. First, I'm trying to clear up & pile up brush & downed small trees. I will also get into some larger trees later in the summer. I have a NH TC33 w/loader & 7' blade to work with. Any hints on pushing trees & brush around? Are there forks for the NH 5' heavy duty bucket? I'm trying to cut down my time while maintaining safety. I already smashed in my grill screen a little on my new tractor! Any help would be appreciated...

I'm looking at a Woods 6' RM306 mower for my TC33D. This unit appears to be pretty old but solid & the pully gears seem tight. Does anyone have any experience or opinion about this model. This guy is asking $750 for it which seems high to me, but I am just learning about these things. I have heard that the Woods is a good brand.

I am sure a new head is pretty steep. We are Kubota dealers, but I am not at the dealership right now. I will be down there Saturday and will e-mail you the name and phone# of a salvage yard that specializes in Kubota compacts. I can't think of the name of it right now. Heck, I might just give them a call when I get down there. Just out of curiosity, I will look and see what a new head costs too. It will probably Saturday night before I re-post.

Steve I have a JD4400 Hydro with 86 hrs., and am very happy with it. I have a loader, R4s, grader blade, box blade, tiller, Bush Hog cutter, PTO chipper & JD48 backhoe. The only problem I have had was with the front axle that has been replaced. MFWD & 4wd are the same thing. Chris

The Kubota B7500 operator's manual states the largest bush hog that is to be used on this tractor is 42 inches wide.

Has anyone compared the "new" B7500 to the old discontinued B2100? I was looking at these tractors last week and it looks like Kubota just re-skinned the B2100, lowered the price and called it the B7500. I was looking at a used B2100 but after I saw that, I'm scared I am throwing money down the drain. Why buy a used B2100 when the same tractor , ie B7500, is a couple of thousand dollars less. I pity the poor dealers that have any B2100s sitting around, either new or used.

Just my opinion: the JD belly mower is really!!!!!!! worth the 1000 or so extra dollars,I''ve had the 72" belly mower just this season and it does a much neater job I think it is because of the gauge wheel placement. I had the Landpride 72" finish mower for three seasons and it was not easier to put on or use the price is the only reason that I can see getting the Landpride, and I think that it isn't enough. I wish I could get all the good stuff that you are getting that is the only thing that I would change in your order. Oh one more thing, make sure you put a piece of rubber belting on the inside of the rear door on the 660 tiller, to protect it from dents, I didn't do it to mine and it really looks like hell with about 10 hours on it.

Dennis, your question is pretty general, but I have a B2710 and had the dealer install a cigarette lighter on the dash between the steering column and light switch before he delivered it. They ran a hot wire from the starter with an inline fuse. They also mounted an insulated steel canopy on the ROPS. It has a coated angle iron frame on the bottom side and then I mounted a work light (floodlight) on the rear of the canopy frame and a light (trapezoidal) on the front of the canopy frame with a toggle switch on the right side of that frame. The 2710 already has a fused lead under the seat on the right side for power for auxiliary lighting. It's wired through the ignition switch, i.e., only hot with the key on. And if you remove the two bolts holding the toolbox under the seat and take the toolbox out, you'll find a big ground bolt in the top of the transmission that the other lights are grounded to. I also mounted a tiltmeter and rear view mirror on the front of the canopy frame. I still haven't figured out a good place for a cup holder (and while I understand they have a fender mounted radio available for the B2710, I don't have any use for a radio on mine).

You have identified the problem, low compression in one cylinder. We are a Case /IH dealer and rebuild several of these tractors every year. Your problem is low compression in one cylinder, more than likely it is a burned valve or sticking valve this is a very common problem in the C60 engine. These engines did not use hardened valve seats, and that is why they burn valves easily on unleaded gas. If you want to keep the tractor we would install hardened valve seats, and guides if needed, all new valves, and upgrade the pistons to the high compression aluminum type. The high compression pistons will add 2-3 HP to this engine it makes a noticable difference in power. We can supply the parts if needed. Contact:

I hear you, Murf. But in this case it was strictly a manufacturing oversight. The top plate for the casting is original, and nothing more than an 8" square piece of 3/32 steel with 4 holes punched for bolting to the casting plus a center hole broched and tapped for NTP. A vent would have been simple to add. I will tap a hole and put in a U tube vent in the approriate place - far above the fluid level.
The only reason why I brought it up is that someone else might be having mysterious leakage past the seals their bushhog's gearbox, too. I put up with the leak for years before finally getting down and taking a critical look at the design...

I JUST BOUGHT MY 750 IN DALLAS TX. ABOUT A MONTH AGO AND GAVE $8000.00. IT IS 4WD HAS A JD 67 LOADER AND HAD 850 HRS. THE METAL IS ALL IN GOOD SHAPE THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE FOUND WRONG SO FAR IS A SMALL HYDALIC LEAK IN ONE OF THE HOSES AND I'M NOT REAL SURE ABOUT THE TURF TIRES ON THE REAR. I MOVED UP FROM AN OLD 9N FORD SO I AM REAL PLEASED RIGHT NOW, PLENTY OF POWER AND ITS GREAT TO HAVE POWER STEERING.

With all due respect to the other post'rs, a "few" of the 4100's do have minor scuff problems. Obviously this problem seems to be non-existant in comparison to the 4200's and up. The problem specifically is an improperly bent tie-rod. Rather than fabricating a tie-rod with adjustment settings, they simply use a solid welded rod. This is all wonderful until someone at the plant realizes its break time in the middle of making the rod. In my case, the rod was so poorly made, it caused about 2" of toe-in. All is well now... finally..

Yes, I'm thinking your expecting too much from a 12hp unit. Our 42" deck could make the ol' AC grunt when mowing..especially on a hill
You didn't mention its age or hours, but on top of all of this I'm assuming its a little on the tired side as well.

i have had a NH 1520, 23hp, for about 4 years i cut about 7 acres with it no problem, can do this in about 4 hrs or less,it has a 5 ft belly mower. hou will still need to trim with a hand mower, if this is any help.

I'm looking for some input as to tire ballast for my JD 955. The technical manual says calcium chloride and water won't damage rims if filled to at least 75%. JD dealer says put tubes in the tires and then fill. Or, if I don't do tubes, put water and antifreeze in instead (not as heavy but won't corrode rims).How full should they be filled? The manual says not to exceed 90%.Anybody have suggestions or experiences that may be of help?

In the past I have had the same problem, usually when a drive-shaft with a rusty coupler was installed on the pto shaft. The easiest way (IMHO) to remove the offending coupler seems to be as follows. First, 'split' the shaft into two parts and remove everything possible of the implement. Secondly (as Roger L. so rightly stated) remove the 'C-clip' (or whatever it is that holds the lock-pin in place) and tale the lock-pin and spring, etc., out of the tractor end of the drive-shaft. Thirdly, carefully take a stout piece of rope (manilla, not nylon or polypropelene) and place two slip knots around the yoke such that you will be pulling equally from both sides. place the rope around the base of a good size tree (be sure to protect the bark from damage with an old blanket or something). Finally, VERY GENTLY but firmly 'bump' the coupler, using the lowest gear possible, by pulling against the tree using short, quick tugs. Be very careful to make sure that you stay in control at all times, avoid the temptation to 'let rip' and try to use speed, keep one foot covering the clutch at all times. If it is possible to use a tree on a gentle slope so that the tractor can be allowed to merely coast a short distance and the rope to stop it. Best of luck.
