All,I would like to thank everyone who directly or indirectly contributed to my success in deciding on my tractor. I placed my order for a TC33D with SS, with 7308 loader 60" HD bucket with reversible bolt on cutting edge and a 72" mid mount side discharge mower. Final price before taxes $20,180. On recommendation from my father-in-law (family's been farming since late 1800's in MO) I decided not to get the calcium chloride ballast. He recommended to try the tracor as is go with the wheel weights if necessary. I probably will go with one of the non-corrossive (sp?) options if necessary. I have not decided on what to use for the loader counter balance, but since 80% of my work initially will be mowing my 3 acres it is not an issue at this time.Thanks again,Mark W.<br>TC33D w/SS/Loader/Mid-Mower owner to be, by then end of the month.

All,

The literature I have shows the 60" 914a rear discharge with recommended tractors TC18 and TC21/21D and the 72" 914a rear discharge with recommended tractors TC25/25D, TC29/29D, and TC33/33D. I would think this is a recommendation because of the HP of the tractor. When I was working my deal, I initially had the 60" rear discharge and a TC29D on my quote. I since then went with the 72" which would be a bit wider than the tractor and allow for easier trimming, since the wheels of the tractor would not have to be as close to what I was trimming around.

Bought a Satoh Beaver III tractor 5 years ago, no idea how old, has a 16.5 diesel..runs like a top....trying to sell but buyers concerned about getting parts should it break down....have no manuals, no idea where to get parts/accessories. Also, would like to know what kind of price these tractors typically bring.

As a farmer, my recommendation would be to use a disk & drag harrow. If you're tractor has enough power pull the drag behind the disk. If you don't mind the grass coming back after you level it, you wouldn't gain anything by spraying it. If the grass is tall, mowing it first may be helpful.

Stuart, Had an injection pump failure on my 820 about a year ago. I had my
pump rebuilt for $375.00 including a new rod by a diesel injection repair shop here in Atlanta. It only took about 3 days after i dropped it off. They told me all the tractors dealers in the area bring pumps to them for overhaul .If you

Ed the chains I believe you are refering to are called check chains. They go from the top link mount on the tractor and go to the mower on the lower link pins. They in no way are meant to replace the top link. Any three point machine with a tail wheel will ride on the two lower links without any trouble but that is not the way it's meant to be hooked up. The check chains will hold the front of the mower up to a preset height by adjusting the links on the chain. What might have happened in this case is there normally is a flexible link on the top of the mower that allows some movement for the rear for lift over obstuctions this piece might have flipped over causing the problem.

Mark: I just installed a 72 in deck mower on my 855. The mower slides under the tractor sideway's and gets it's pto power from the mid point pto shaft. It took about 7 minutes to install the mower even though it was my first time. The mower will work with the loader attached. I removed mine so it would not clank around while cutting grass.

Paul, yes the JD 790 is an economy machine. But it is a well built machine also, just does not have the bells and whistles. I bought one 2 months ago and have not second guessed it one time. I have a 5 ft. box scrape and a 5 ft. Bush Hog SQ600 rotary mower. The only concern I had before purchase is the 815 lb. lift capacity of the 3ph (at 24 inch). This has not been a problem, even with the bush hog hanging off the back. I like the gear transmission, but I know a lot of guys like hst. Good luck. John

David, I also financed my TC29 through NH. Was the insurance you speak of an added cost or inherent in the finacing? How was the tractor damaged? Hope you don't mind me asking, it's just that I'm trailoring my tractor virtually every time I use it. Thanks.

J. Dubbs, $14,700 sounds like a great price--if it has the live PTO. As Michael said that is probably a $200 - $600 option. I feel live PTO to be well worth the extra cost. I was used to a 8N pulling a brush hog, and belive me my TC29 pulling a flail mower is pure heaven. I can shift gears without waiting for the mower to stop turning. Either way you won't be disapointed in the TC29.

The best backhoe mounts for safety and for the tractor/hoe stability that I have seen are the subframe type. A big disadvantage to my 3 pt mount is that when I lift it up to move, the heavy backhoe is carried high up relative to the weight of the tractor. Sort of like having a full bucket carried too high. The best of the mounting schemes seem to be the ones which use the 3 pt to lift the backhoe onto the subframe - where it is then locked down. My favorite subframe was one I saw some years ago on a larger tractor where the subframe for the hoe and the front loader were one and the same.
