My father is interested in purchasing a 210-4 with 300 hours and in near perfect condition. The price quoted to him was $5695.00.<br>I know very little about this compact tractor. Any help on the value or a similar brand tractor that would be more durable or dependable. <br>The 4wd was the desirable factor. jd

Does anyone have experience with using a loader on a TC25D? I have a new TC25D and decided I would like a loader, does New Holland make a decent loader or is there an after-market brand that is better? I do not have supersteer if that makes a difference.

jack.Thanks for the info.Now you have brought another qeestion to mind.How difficult is it to take the tractor section off if you want to use a post hole digger or other implement without freedom hitch.I'm surprised the company claims that freedom hitch will work with any 3 pt. imp.

Don I wish the markup was 25% of msrp as you suggest on all compacts. Giving credit where credit is due deere does only give the 10% discount on the 790 to the best of my knowledge. Other than freight and set-up there are other cost factors to enter in such as does it include free trucking for warrantee work, is the mower removed and the snowblower installed at no cost to the owner the first season. There are many things to consider and many things to look at when purchasing and price is not all there is to buying.

Stiger does not equal Steiger. We are a Case /IH dealer and also deal in grey market tractors. We have asked and there is no known relationship between Case and Shibaura. No one we've talked to even in Japan knows what the Stiger means on the Shibaura tractors. By the way Shibaura builds compacts for New Holland. Yesterday was the first day of business for the merged companies of Case and New Holland. The company is now offically known as Case New Holland or CNH.

From what I have seen and driven, the TC29 or the TC33 would be ideal for what you are looking for. I would recomend the Deluxe version of either one (if you dont need the extra HP the 29 would be the way to go) The 20deg. swivel of the standard seat on the deluxe as well as Suppersteer will be life and neck savers in your line of work. The controles of the 7308 loader bucket are very convieniently located. Good Luck. Rick

Re: 4100 attachment limitations. Greetings 4100 owners.
I have customers using everything from Kelly backhoes to specialty vegatable
planters. J.D. only offers a small line of attachments for the 4100 because
of the fact that its chasis is unique in the 4000 series family. It just doesn't
pencil out to spend the money to develop a backhoe that only could fit the 4100
when market research shows the majority of backhoes are sold on higher horsepower tractors. But never fear. Just because Deere doesn't offer a certain
kind of attachment does NOT mean it's not reccomended. There are hundreds of
"short line" products available from your local dealer. Just ask.

I htink that 2750 is about as good a price youll find, but 3000 to 3250 is still in the ball park.

I got a price on a 4400 of 23500 with a 72"mower, 3300 retail,430 loader3300,retail. But the price I got on a 4400 with a 72" lorenz blower loader turf tires 3rd hyd valve folding rops mower and loader is 24900 wich is the best price I've seen yet had to drive past two other dealers to get to it but 150 miles isnt to far to drive for 1500 dollars. I hope this helps.

I have a Woods 72 inch blade Model RB72 which I think may actually be made by Gill. It has optional adjustable skid shoes which are actually round disks mounted at a slight angle. They bolt right on using existing holes in the blade. You will find this accessory listed in the current Woods brochures and sales information. The brochure shows that skid shoes are available for every current blade except the RB60.

Turfman, thanks for the words of encouragement. My new blower should arrive this week. I have a bit of concern regarding plowing a gravel driveway (since that is what I still have since I spent all my money on a new 4400, etc and no money left for asphalt !). There are several posts regarding throwing gravel and not being able to adjust the JD 59 inch blower. What has been your experience ?? Thanks in advancethe NW PA snow belt - Bob

I'm not sure about any of this but that has never stopped me before. I garden so I do have some experience with plants. When the frost hits and the above ground part of a plant dies it is unlikely that mowing will hurt it. The plant is depending on the root system or seeds to get started next year. The above ground portion of the plant is possibly food for next years plants and errosion resistance. Mowing will probably scatter seeds and provide mulch. I don't see a problem with mowing the field except that it may eliminate shelter for small mammals.

Thanks For the reply. I tried "Bleeding" the system, I let ou a pint of oil.
The pump does not seem to be air locked. Can the control valve get air locked?
Is there a part in the control valve, like a piston, that has to move back & forth?? But unlike a piston does not have a connecting rod to move it?? If so I'm thinking maybe that it is stuck. Can it get stuck, or would oil pressure move it for sure??? I have only questions, and a bum lift of course.

For the record... Bad diesel was causing the smoke problem. I drained all but about 1.5 gallons, and refilled with #2 clear diesel. All but very minor smoke has disappeared. I assume the minor smoke will go away when that 1.5 gal. is finally used up with the current tank-full. Thanks for the help.

Jeff, The 770 has a dry clutch. If you live in an area w/high precip. or
humidity, your clutch discs can become stuck together during periods of storage,
making the clutch inoperative. To prevent this, depress the clutch pedal, and
affix it to the floorboard using a c-clamp or vice grips etc. John Deere
actually ships these tractors in this manor to avoid the problem during overseas
travel. Most dealers toss the disposable clip that holds the pedal during shipment. This tip applies to any make of tractor with a single stage dry clutch. Congradulations on the purchase of your new John Deere!!!
