mark, the drums dont have to be removed to take tire on and off, and yes it is a bit heavier but really not a problem.your right though 115lbs per tire might not be enough for some jobs, but can add plates to drums easy if more is needed. I'm really trying to add weight for traction more than ballast for field work.but it will sure help some for ballast also.the ez weight system looks great but its still $135 for kit plus price of plates.right now I got $35 invested. (working with thin wallet).any cheap weight will sure help the torkey light weight 790.

I would get the largest tractor your pocket book will allow. I have the 790 and really pleased with it ,but a larger unit would of been nicer.The 790 was all my pocket book would allow, but its a great machine and I'm finding out that's it's done all I asked of it so far.

Ive read lots of post that state IF IT FEELS UNSAFE IT MOST LIKELY IS. you should go up and down hills enstead across when ever possible.

As loghouse stated , make sure your shear pin is the correct grade.!!! I have had my cutter stall earlier this year and got heavy clutch stink.after taking a good look at shear pin found it was a grade 5 instead of a grade 2.gear box on cutter was protected but hard on tractor clutch. it was the pin that came with my kk cutter, oops someone made a mistake. MAKE SURE TO CHECK BEFORE USING! having the wrong pin installed could result in big damage, lucky for me mine faired ok that time. slip clutch might be a good safety device.

I have a 790 with the 419 loader and i had no problem lifting heaping loads of clay soil when i was repairing my pond, and as far as 3 pt cap. it will lift more than they say but the front end gets light, but other tractors with more cap. will do the same.So far Iv'e been pleased with mine. good strong machine for the money. the hydro trans would be nice for lots of loader work which the 790 does not offer, but the TC30 new holland is real comparable in price and it does offer it. It's 30 hp 4x4, real close in all other ways also.

how did you mount them to wheel , are they easy to remove and reinstall.and ya I did look into deere's weights and that why I'm interested in what you did on yours.I'm sure it was much cheaper alternative. i also noticed a shovel in your loader, I've buried mine twice leaving in bucket. LOL. forgot i had it in there,learning the hard way I guess.Now i strap it to what ever tool i have on the back.

lawn and garden tractors will do some ground braking , but won't hold up to much. If mowing will be most of your work it will probly be ok although 2 acers will take some time. if you plan on much ground braking you should buck up for larger unit, in turn you'll double your speed with mowing.

plow from outside in as mydoyroy stated ,then a tined harrow works good for tearing down furrows into smaller clumps,then disk for final smoothin.a good sized log dragged a few feet behind dish also acts as a poor mans cultapacker. If it's lugumes your planting you really don't need to moldboard. what i do is drag my boxblade around to tear out sod ,then go right to disk, then chain 7ft oak log behind disk for final pass .works great for sowing clovers and alpha. look at my photo album of one of my 8th acer plots.

After rereading your first post about making money with tractor and seeing your property size. I think you would happier with a larger framed model than the 790.althgough its a great machine for smaller scale projects for personal use on smaller properties,I dont think it would be a good choice for you beings the size property you have. you'll spend a lot of time behind the wheel maintaining 100 acers.

the colors are neat, although i wish mine would of stayed green beings I have a deere.but it doesn't matter, just like being a part of the site. i think the pics will really be a neat thing on the site,cant wait to see some.

float is achieved by pushing lever all the way forward. at least thats how my 790 is set up.

might be a good idea to look into renting larger unit as hoes for compacts are really big bucks.i was wanting to get one for my 790 but opted to rent 310se deere for some pond work. i think it worked far better than my 790 would have anyway, plus daily rental was priced far.but thats just my apprentice opion.

cutter is a 5ft kk brand with a 40 horse gear box (lite duty), shouldn't be too much for tractor? I was told by neibor to run nut alittle loose as tom stated also.Ill try that beings I don't want to fry clutch if that happens agian.I would rather have gear box gernade before clutch, cheaper and easer to fix.drive line and pin came with cutter(grade 2).

Are there different lengths on hyd. top links? Im think about getting one for my 790. it seems it would be a real welcome thing to have for doing box scraper work.Im getting tired of dismounting and mounting tractor several times to get correct angle for grading.

thanks for your input. it does seem to make since about pounds per sq. in for traction, but what about added stabilty for mowing and added balast for loader work.or does it seem wheel weights would achieve that cheaper and easier?

The JD790 or the TC30 Nh give a big bang for the buck, those are both in the 30 hp range.

i kinda chuckeled when i first seen this one, what a big difference in machines there. my neighbor has a 6410 , and that is a whole lot of tractor. WISH I HAD ONE.but on my budget 790 was all i could mustard.DARN IT!
