thanks! I'll see what I cn put together. Doing my first big box-blade project (trail and driveway) tomorrow, and a top link is necessary!

I can't find any stats on what the length of a cat 1 or 0 top link is. Mine was about 14", which was a little long for the box to level out. Is this why everyone seems to cut and weld (a full cat 1?) one of these for their tractors?

Lift up the rear of the truck, tape a piece of string to the drive shaft, turn BOTH rear wheels one rotation forward TOGETHER and count how many times the string has wrapped around the driveshaft. 3-3/4 times = 3.77 almost 4 times = 3.91

The engine computor, abs, trans, etc. may get cranky with the wrong ratio.

Ann is right. The most efficient would be a hybrid diesel. There are, however, quite a few of them around. Diesel-Electric locomotives and marine applications (cruise ships) to name a couple. Imagine how much fuel a train would use with a gasoline motor or heavy highway truck for that matter.

Just because its only used on "super-sized" equipment doesn't mean it's wrong for a family car/SUV. IMHO it just proves that it would make more sense in a smaller vehicle. A step beyond the gasoline-electric hybrid. Now if the gov can only get going with the low sulfer diesel and EPA allow the manufacturers to market some technology...

I for one hope that Dodge pursues the Cummins(diesel)-Electric hybrid truck. By the time it hits the market, I will be looking to replace my '94 Dodge-Cummins.

Get the bagger. Well worth the money for the leaf cleanup alone. You will get clumping no matter what blades you use if the grass is long enough. The vac system is strong and does a wonderful job.<br>

On my policy (Farmers Insurance Co.) it is fully covered, as Iowafun said, as long as it is on my property. If something happens while towing, my homeowners policy does nothing. I had to add a rider on my truck insurance to cover it.

I owned a couple of 6.2 boat anchors (opps I mean motors) and I thought the Cummins was quieter Especially when cold). Maybe I'm just blinded by love? Dunno. Appologies offered if needed.

Dealer sold extended warranties are a scam. The mark-up on these is several hundred percent, and are filled with more fine print than you can imagine. They are very similar to the paint and fabric protection warranties available through the dealers, nothing but smoke and profit.

The ones available through the MANUFACTURER are more legit and accepted in other places than the selling dealer or "network" shops.

I'm not a Ford guy so I don't know this warranty, but it sounds as though you did the research and fine print reading. Best of luck.

Haven't had a bit of trouble with my BX2230 so far. It's been a great investment. I think that the BX is a bit smaller than the others you listed, maybe the reason for the lower FEL rating. I have not had any issue with the FEL not being strong enough. I've used it to do all the 3/4" river rock landscaping on my property and maintain a short gravel drive, among other little jobs.

Why get the rear snowblower? Having tried both, the front is so much better, well worth the extra cost.

Ditto on everything said here so far. I have the 54" deck for my 2230 and it mows great. I choose not to mow with the FEL attached because of the weight on the front tires creating ruts in the lawn. It is so silly-easy to remove, so why not. You will love your BX.

FYI: just replaced my first CV (did the whole half shaft) on my 86 Jetta, 162k miles. The half shafts/CV's on these cars are larger than what I saw on a newer Chevy 4x4.

I have some good pics of my vac/bagger on my wedsite that maybe you could get some ideas from. Mine goes to a MMM, but maybe you could fab some type of nozzle on the front/middle/back of your tractor to attach the vac hose to? I don't know what you have for a tractor, but this is alot less than $23,000, wow.

Echo: Sorry to hear of your teething problems with the new toy (oops, truck). I can comment on the manual trans in that when mione was new, it was a bit challenging to shift some times too. A bit of break in and alot of self induced training seemed to solve the problems.

On my tranny (New Venture 4500 5-speed) first gear is a "Granny Low" gear and is not used most of the time, therefore it is not synchronised. Yours may be the same? Also going from Reverse to First, or first to second still requires me to let out the clutch in neutral then go to next gear (double clutch), more so when heavily loaded.

I love my diesel and have gotten so used to the boquet of her exhaust I had to take the wife along on a trip to find out that she (The truck, guys!) has a leaky exhaust. There will allways be a SMALL scent of diesel, but it should not be overpowering. Maybe try a muffler shop?

Who did you talk to in WI? My dealer (Service Motors Co.)treated me very fairly and the price I paid was quite acceptable to me. Funny, the way you were treated is exactly what I got from several area JD dealers, which is why I tried the Kubota dealer (I never knew much about them before).

To this same end I've found that my tractor (BX2230 with 54" deck) will leave a much better finish with the bagger/vac operating. I think the lack of lift from the deck is why this happens. There is very little "airfoil" to the OEM blades.

Beagle: Are you sure? I ran my BX2230 out of fuel once, (yeah, really bad idea) and after filling, it started and ran (badly for only a few minutes) afterward with out bleeding.

Congratulations on the new "tool." I sure it will serve you well.

Be observant on where you buy fuel, keep to high traffic distributers for fresher fuel which will give you better performance.
