Though I don't have one (yet), I have heard that a toothbar makes a loader into a digger very quickly. Moving rocks and more compacted soil would be far easier with a toothbar to break the material up, first.

There are several manufacturers around on the 'net, but the first place to start would be your dealer (IMO). I have seen prices for my LA211 (BX2230) ranging from $150 to $500, for a 48" toothbar.

Needed:
1. Brakes
2. Tandem (prefered for stability)
3. Enough length to adjust positioning for balance

I have an 18' car hauler (7000# GVW) which works great for my BX. It is also long enough to use for other applications and is not limited to tractor duty only. I consider a trailer like this to need to have more than one use, so therefore a little too big for the BX makes it big enough to haul the neighbor's B7800 or the other neighbor's B7100 with FEL and 'Hoe on it (Or go pick up my car when the bolts on the CV shaft fall out!) or any one of a hundred other uses I've done with it.

12 point torx... Yeah, gotta love 'em. I've had to "resharpen" mine several times too, LOL. I too noticed that the shafts and joints are larger than on the Chevy half ton plow truck I have.

Thanks for the experience notes. Car *seems* to be okay again now, so I'll give the Mrs her car back and put the truck away again, sigh. I was beginning to get used to a car with cruise, a/c, comfy seats, and...

I too just bought a beater-Plow truck for the property. I found a '89 Chevy Regular cab short box with a very nice condition 8' Hiniker plow on it for $2500.

Does anyone out there have any insight or opinions on what to watch for on maintenance with this type of plow? It's my first plow and I don't want to wreck it right away.

King Kutter makes a 48" rotary cutter in their XB line designed to be used by a sub-compact. I am looking at one of these right now for my BX2230.

The problem with the BX Kubota is their soft under-belly. The unprotected plastic fan under the tractor is easy to damage and very unfriendly to replace. A skid plate or grill under it would be recommended for brush cutting with a BX.

My neighbor (B7100) went through the same mess. Kubota specific battery, no-one else hase the same size. He modified his battery tray to accept a standard battery of similar size, $20 Wal-Mart special (two years ago now...).

I saw a picture on the new from a helio-shot of "hundreds" of school busses now flooded under the water. Why did the mayor of N.O. not use these to evac the people who had no means BEFORE the storm hit? Why did the Mayor and/or Governor NOT call on FED help before the storm hit (like AL and MS)?

It's all about Democrat -vs- Republican BS, and I for one am completely sick of the negativity and obstructionism from the left to anything this president tries to do. To spin this storm for political gain is below contempt, but very few will ever see this because the news media is in the left's pocket. Frustrating beyond measure!

NH TZ25 has the Woods Groundbreaker X available which uses a subframe mount comparable in strength to the BX22/23 if you need to go with the NH.<br>

Hate to brag, but the $500 VW gets 47 mpg on diesel which just broke $3 today, here. Gas is $3.29, 3.24, 3.19 as of this morning.

Wisconsin has a minimum mark up law which state that the stations MUST mark up 9.13% from the distributor's price. This depression era legislation should be #1 on the chopping block, but, we have a taxocrat Governor now, so he never gets rid of useless legislation, just adds more.

Your dealer *should* be able to work with you on this, I would think. If they won't, a new dealer is definitely in order.

Unfortunately, I think you'll find used (and unwanted) LA211's as rare as chicken teeth and frog fur coats!

Perhaps Mr. Spyder doen't need the financing options and is paying cash. Then the $2-3K savings is well worth it. If there is any warranty left on the unit, it will transfer, or additional used warranty can be purchased.

The wife and I are 32/34 respectively in the same "life" situation (no kids, no plan to have kids). Our current situation after me taking a year off work to finish my degree is all the doing of my wife's talent at budget management and our lack of frivilous spending.

We have the Harleys, Kubota, nice cars (well, not mine...) and are about to close on an 80 acre property and build a new home. In no way do I feel appologetic about being financially secure, and I have no respect for people who try and belittle me for that security (attempts happen often).

If people were more RESPONSIBLE for themselves and less focused on instant gratification, their finances would improve in most situations. (Having 5 kids with as many ex-wives doesn't help either!)

BTW: I would spend the $3000 on either of my cats if they needed it too.
