Had to replace the shear pin (!) on my grass catcher today. Didn't hit any thing (that I know of), just vacuming up leaves. <br>

The pin is on the rear u-joint yolk where it attaches to the 1st gear box. (See pic link, cover is on the left end of the drive shaft.) Remove a small cover and line everything up and drive out the borken one. The manual calls for a 1/4-20 X 1-1/2 screw with a nut on it for a shear pin. That lasted for the first start-up and it broke too. Wound up having to go the the New Holland Dealer (gasp!) to find a 1/4 x 1-1/2 pin with a spline in the middle of it to drive into the hole. I think that is what was there to begin with and it worked fine for the rest of the day.<br>

Anyone with one of these Grass Catchers ever broken the pin before? Is this the correct type of pin for this application, or should I do something differant?

Mr. Simonson: If you ever have the chance, cut open one of the Fram filters and a JD, Fleetguard or other OEM filter and compare them. You'll probably never buy another Fram filter.

Add how many watts to charge battery, operate dash lights, tail lights, tractor headlights and operate solinoid(s) to run motor too.

Why 4? Can you run 2 at a time instead? My 2 x 35 watt light are plenty for snowblowing at night.

We call it a drain field or conventional septic system, and thy work great around here in the sandy soil. Have the solids pumped out of the tank every year or two and it'll be good.

$Any industrial supply shop will have forged weld on hooks in various sizes. They will charge a fraction of the price that JD, NH or Kubota will, too.$ Chain Hooks

Can someone explain how the model numbering system works for JD tractors? 2210 is the sub-CUT, but the rest...<br>

I believe this is a classic exampple of the "Bait and Switch." Which, I think is illeagle in every state. I would definately NEVER buy from them, but like WPHill said, forward thier business "practices" on to every business agency you can find, including the Sheriff's office.

I wish you better luck with your new 'Deere shopping.

JD855inWI: My JD shopping experience was: Wausau Dealer did not treat me as a serious buyer(now gone), Merrill Dealer was insulting to me when they found I wasn't spending $30k(now new owner), Stratford Dealer and Stevens Point Dealer (??? never returned my calls or spoke with me) at that point I gave up and bought the Kubota BX. <br>

I'm sorry, I did not mean for this to be a JD bash, their equipment is top notch (was my 1st choice), but, the dealers in my area weren't helpful or good to me as a potential customer.<br>

BTW the local NH dealer told me (very curt and condecending) they DO NOT and WILL NOT make a diesel sub-compact because there is no market for such a waste of time, this was in the fall of 2003.<br>

I take my Fleetguard filter to the oil change place and have them do it. I too have a problem getting rid of the 12+ quarts from my Cummins. I wind up paying about $35-40 for them to do the change every 5,000 miles. I have used 5w40 or 15w40 Rotella in it since new. 175k and counting.

I too would be real interested in some pics! I was told that the Groundbreaker X was driven by a PTO pump. Is there a differance in the Kubota system vs the JD system, I wonder.

JT: The TZ is a nice little machine, but the 3pt is no different from the JD 2210 or Kubota BX. The limit on the "Limited 3PT" is the lift height and all of the 3 have nearly identical chassis height.

...As opposed to putting that number right on the pump where everyone can see it and be angry about it. IMHO it should be put on the pump for everyone to know.

As far as getting it back: Will Joe Q. Fuelbuyer go through the problem of trying to get the remission forms etc. done to get what they think is "just a couple cents" per gallon? I've been through this running "auto-fuel" in an airplane. It is neither easy or guarenteed that you will get the state's hard earned income back. Been there, been denied.

I drilled and tapped my ROPS. Some don't like this, some think it's okay. Your choice. I put the link up again so you could see how I did the wiring.

I chose to put a relay on the lead under the seat rather than use a full amp hot switch. The lead on my BX2230 was ignition-hot, so I spliced into the tail light lead for the switch signal on the relay. My work lights go on with the headlights(tail lights).

My lights are only 35watt rubber cased tractor lights. This was PLENTY for what I am doing (snowblowing mostly). Any more, 55watt hallogen "fog" lights for example, will probably tax the small OEM charging system too much.

People have used rear blades in that fashion for many, many years, with great success.

With a sub-CUT, the problem could arise that there is not enough space between the blade and rear tires. This could cause the tractor to lift and stick or could pack down snow under the tires and blade. Remember too, that the 3pt is desined to pull not push. You could damage the arms or case if you impact something while pushing.
