I live in Phoenix Arizona and after looking at the Kubota, Deere, New Hollander, and several others, I think the JD 4310 or 4210 will meet my needs best. NOW,,, Phoenix has 8.1% sales tax, and the lowest I can get is 10% off MSRP, is there a dealing in another state that I can get more than 10% off MSRP and maybe get out of the sale tax???? Thanks.

If you are going to use Deere Credit financing they will report the sale to your county and they might catch on that you evaded the sales tax.

That said, 10 percent off is about a standard discount and as far as I know Oregon is the closest state that is free of sales tax. ....

If the tractor is for ag use; in most locations the sales taxes are exempt. You may be asked to sign a statement that the machine is for ag use. If not, be prepared to pay the sales tax or pay cash. This is an area that is subject to quite a bit of interpretation, subjectivity, and grey area. ....

I was quoted "no sales tax" in Texas and Oklahoma when I was shopping.

Look on midlawns (link attached) for a good comparison. There in Missouri... You'd have to shipping, but you would get 18.2% off MSRP and wouldn't pay sales tax.

I priced out a 4310, 4WD, Hydro, R4 tires, DSCV, Mid-PTO, Cruise + Speed-match:

JD's price ----- $20,640.00
Midlawns price - $16,880

( 20,640 - 16,880 ) / 20,640 = 18.2% off JD MSRP

Ya might shop around a bit... I was able to get 18+ % off / no sales tax on my 4110 from my local dealer.

I don't know how much merit... your county tracking you down to pay sales tax has? Each state may be diff. though. I've bought several big ticket items out of state and never paid sales tax on any of them... there was a thread (I think) where a dealer put this myth to rest... but I don't have it handy.

For clarification: If you use Deere credit, (or any of them) they file a lien in the county in which you live, so if you default on the loan, they can reclaim the tractor.

If you can arrange an unsecured line of credit, or pay cash, you avoid the potential tax liability. ....
