I have an MTE2000 and the voltage regulator is bad...I think. The battery wasn't charging. The charge light came on and the battery went dead. The alternator is putting out power. I removed the regulator..popped the top off and found one of the winding inside burned up. What is causing this. Is it just a bad regulator? Should I just replace it? Anyone have one I can buy.

Sure appears to be a bad regulator. I can probably supply you with one. ....

Why would this happen? Is there something else I should check prior to installing a new VR? Do these just go bad? Thanks! ....

You have one of the old mechanical regulators and lots of things can affect them, from vibration to moisture. I sell a new solid state regulator that replaces yours. Call me at 800-609-5110 or send an email. We accept all major credit cards. Bill satohparts.com ....
