I have a L3130 GST a long ways from a dealer and don't have a trailer to haul it. I'm nearing 100hours and will need to change the hydraulic/transmission fluid. My owners manual doesn't show how to do that and shop manuals are scarce and expensive. Any ideas of where to find instructions?

Are you quite sure?

I have owned 4 such machines, two Kubota's and two Deere's.

All the owners manuals have had detailed information on draining and refilling critical fluids. ....

My L3130DT owners manual has reasonably good instructions. There are four drain plugs that will have to be removed.

My B7800 owners manual also has very good instructions. If memory serves me, the dealer was supposed to review these instrructions with you at the time of Drop-off/Pick-up. Check your manual again in the maintenace section. According to my service interval chart, the trans fluid and filters are supposed to be changed after the first 50 break-in hours. ....

Other than a good description of the procedures, a strategy is needed for getting the old oil out and the new back in. If the drain pan isn't large enough to hold all the oil it can get messy. Trying to pour oil from a 10-gallon bucket into a funnel is awkward at best. A strategy for disposing of the old oil also is needed.

I put up with a bit of a mess since I don't have a large enough drain. I do have a pail pump for refilling it and my brother-in-law or local garage will take the used oil. My BIL uses it for undercoating. There's probably better stuff but at least hydraulic oil doesn't have detergents in it far as I know. The garage charges what it costs him to dispose of it and it'd still be cheaper than the 2 1/2 hour drive to my dealer. ....

Thanks for all of the feedback. I did see the information regarding 4 drain plugs and realized that 11+ gallons needed to be dealt with. Also took the advice of revisiting the dealer when buying the hydraulic fluid to get question re: bleeding, front axle draining etc. Results are the the fluid should be good to go for another 400 hours. Thanks for your reinforcement. ....

You may need a 10MM allen wrench for one of the drain plugs.
