Well it is now!
Check out photo#6, it must have 5,000lbs of wet, rained on manure on it and I just got it today. The pile was building while I looked for a means to get the stuff to my woods.
It was a 2 horse tag trailer that has been used to carry a baby roller for asphalt work. I was going to use it to transport the ractor but it is a little too small. It is very strong with about 18' sides and a ramp so I am going to use it as a manure wagon/ utility trailer. It has a VERY heavy pintle hook setup that I will attach to the drawbar with a twist clevis. I was trying to figure out the best way to add a hitch and then I figured why not just use a clevis. ther cheap and strong. Should work perfect the JD dealer has a bigber clevis that I know will fit, my current clevis is a 3ton unit but is a smidge small in the loop.
I intend to leave it outside the barn and the wheel barrel can be wheeled up the ramp and the manure dumped on the deck. Every week when it fill I will pull it out to the woods and then unload it with the FEL.
I will also use it to transport firewood from my woods to the house and to go get stone or wood chips from the landscape supply place.
Price was right too...free from my buddy.

I couldn't tell what kind of manure that is but I hope it's horse manure and not cow. Or at least for it to have a lot of hay in it. Otherwise that trailer won't last to long. ....

It is horse manure with a fair ammount of shavings/hay mixed in. It is still very heavy due to the rain. I put a heavy tarp on the bottom and slightly up the sides of the trailer so the runoff will flow out the rear and off the wood and frame. Even so the frame is VERY heavy as it was reinforced to hold the heavy roller. If it rots I will weld on some more cross memmbers but that shoudl be years from now and by that time I should have a real spreader. ....

Keep the front up high so it can drain off the back if it needs to keep from having moisture back up. ....

Yes, I will leave it angled back.
Boy was this thing heavy. I could feel the weight when I backed it up an incline with the truck. Obviously the truck backs it easily but you can feel the weight when manuevering. Can't wait to pull it with the tractor. It must be about 5k of manure and then you have the trailer. My land is flat so the tractor should pull it fine. I will let you know how it goes.
Tractor book says it will pull 3 times it's own weight 6500lbs)but that you should have trailer brakes. I don't, but it's flat and I'll be going about 5 mph so it won't matter. ....

I have seen some Mill Creek Spreaders that were not all that expensive. Might be worth a look. Stay safe bro. ....

I will go slooow, especially te first time and as I really don't know what it weighs. It will notbe this heav often. The pile has grown while I decided where it would go and waited for amenas of transportation.
The Mill Creek spreader are great and I think a mid-size is around 1500. The thing is in the winter I don't want to spread over the snow in thefield as I gets real nasty quick. The solution would be to go with the optional PTO driven spreader and spread it all in one area in the woods. I won't be able to get enough are opened up if we get much snow so spreading on the go with ground driven won't work.
At least with the flatbed I now have I can drag it off with the FEL unlike the tub design of areal manure cart where I can't get in and get it.
With that said a Mill Creek or used older spreader will hopefully by coming in the next year or so but for winter I still might use this method. I like the compactness and style of the compact spreader but the large ground driven old farm types can go longer between spreads as long as the tractor can pull it. Suppose I could use the truck but that's NOT desirable for obvious reasons :)

The trailer is a little low for working through the trees. My trailer is quite high and I can pull it on the 3pt with the larger tractor. Once loaded I take it to the compost pile, raise the 3 pt and dump it. It will carry about 1 ton.

I have a small horse trail at the end of the field I am going to make the pile right at the beginning of the trail on the other side of the fence. I need something that I can get to if it snows like it did last year. Don't think the trees will be a problem I will clear a few more just to give myself some manuevering room ....

Just some stats for you quickly on box style spreaders, NH's plant in pennslvania a few years back used to make about 5500 box spreaders a year. Now building Gehl spreaders to the build 1100. If perchance you find the near perfect size for you in the 130 bushel size I would say for your max I would pay up fast as there just aren't many to be had. That size dairy farm is a rareity. ....

I am only talking abou a couple of times a year when I take down some tress or something falls. I would lay a tarp down anyway. These would be the big logs before splitting.

350 I have a small millcreek spreader it works great. I empty it twice a week with two horses. We separate the manure from the wood shavings we use for bedding as best we can because it does not break down as quickly and can kill the grass in the field. This year I got the second best thing I ever bought, after my tractor and thats a dump trailer. Last year with the bad winter I could not spread the manure, so in the spring I had a mountain. The trailer woked great a 10,000lbs GVW BRI-MAR. I loaded it up and hauled it to a local farmer who put it on his fields. ....

The Mill Creek products do look like quality items, glad to hear you're happy with yours.
I have to figure out a permanent plan for ours. I don't know if I am going to spread or just make a pile in the woods and let it break down. I made a pile 2 years ago and now it's gone almost totally. I have plenty of room and we only keep 3 horses in stalls now so I can just let it break down in piles in the woods. The sreading would be nice to put some fertilizer onto the fields though. We'll see. ....
