I'm looking forward to the mileage thing, even when I'm not pullin the tractor. Will be gettin a 35 ft trailer soon also, and I know my half ton would not cut it with that. It's a work out for it with the tractor behind it.I was also impressed to see a max a the race track out running mustangs and firebirds through the quarter mile with a impressive time of 13.01 - 101mph. WOW screamer Three quarter ton pickup, It wasn't stock though. ....

200 miles and truck must go back to dealer, It has already set an ABS code. I'm hoping it's just a wheel speed sencor or something minor like that. All in all I really like it but It's playing havoc on my nerves already haveing to return to dealer with such short miles . ....

Plots, I'm sure its just a sensor. Defective items are better shown right away even if it is a PITA. I am at 55k and still on the origional brakes. By 60k I'm sure I will need new front pads and my front rotors are out of round. nothing abnormal after 2 years and that mileage. Dave ....

Plots,

I hope it is just a glitch and you will not have any more issues with it. I cannot count the times I had to take my Suburban back for repairs when I bought it. I tried to make them take it back under the lemon law but arbitration did not think it was that bad. I think they wished they had after the engine spun a rod bearing at 32,000 miles. They must have spent what the truck was worth new on all the repairs. That is why I bought the Dodge Cummins. If it is any consolation; I have had to take my Dodge back to replace the sterring gearbox and steering damper with less than 10,000 miles. Aside from that, I LOVE the truck. I guess they all have problems from time to time. Hope they get you all straightened out. ....

plots1, I hope your 2500 HD serves you well once the initial problem is sorted out. Since Dodge and GM are represented in an unflattering light here I'll throw my Ford Ranger into the ring. It's not a big truck, but it's a bad truck. Really bad. First new engine at 20k miles due to piston slap. The second engine now has the same problem at 55k miles. Usually I don't buy extended warranties but this one will pay off. Not to mention all the problems with the transfer case, two complete driveshafts, crank sensor, exhaust system, check engine light falsing, chassis squeaks and groans they can't find and fix, tailgate that won't latch fixed twice and still broken, etc, etc. Once the extended warranty expires this puppy is gone. ....

Here is an interesting article that is posted over on the Turbo Diesel Register web site. You may want to hold off of buying a Ford Power Stroke for a good long while. ;-) This article reminds me of the experience I had with my Suburban, but then again my wife's car is a Ford and that is the reason I did not buy a Ford diesel pickup. Her 1995 Taurus has been a piece of junk and Ford just does the minimum to get by. Seems like it is getting tougher to find a good, quality built, American car of truck anymore. Only reason I bought the Dodge is for the Cummins engine and the drive train which none of it is Dodge; all Dana or New Process. ....

Plots,

I forgot to mention a web site for you particular truck. You should be able to pick up lots of good info there. Good luck and all the best with your Duramax.

Plots, we discussed DFA briefly on another strand. This is directly related to the Duramax so I will continue here. power Service DFA is definately not the product to use in the Duramax. It seperates the water in the fuel which due to the high pressure of the common rail system can be forced through the fuel injectors and pump causeing a lot of damage. You can get more info on the GM web site but the only GM approved DFA are Stanadyne and Racor. Dave ....

plots1 - I have a 2001 2500HD 6.6L diesel. It's a great truck. Zero trouble so far.

I also HIGHLY recommend the folks over at the diesel page. I've been hanging out there for years.

All answers are there.

Good luck and have fun!
