I have been seeing advertisments in the local heavy equiptment trader magazine on several dealers who sell LongAgribusiness (landtrac compacts) and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them. Where are they made? How dependable are they? Are parts hard to get? I would call a dealer but thought i would ask those who use them everyday. I was considering a N.H. tc25d w/loader, and 6' rear finishing mower but according to the ads I am seeing, the Landtrac 280 dtc has all the same options minus the hydro trans.( has a syncronized shuttle shifter). Any input good or bad is welcomed.

I have been looking at these tractors for several months trying to get info. I spoke with there factory rep in NC about two months ago. he said they had sold about 300 tractors at that time and had no warranty claims made. a dealer in tennesse (maverick tractor)sent me an email regarding the few he has sold. he stated that he had just completed his first 100hr check on one he had sold, and said it had no leaks and no problems. this guy also said he spoke to mitsubishi about the engines prior to selling the tractors. the mits dealer said that the engines had been used in forklifts for quite a few years and he had only been into one (it overheated and warped the aluminum head). The only negative thing I have seen is that if you are operating the tractor on a steep incline with less than a 1/4 tank of fuel it can suck air, however i was told that it recovers on its own without bleeding the system (i'm not sure this is true just what I was told). I have driven a couple of tractors at dealers both the 280 and the 360, however I have only seen the 360 with a loader. I am waiting on my Ga dealer to get a 280 with a loader in stock. As for parts, I have beeen assured that they are readily available, and that the company in korea LG Machinery has been building tractors for many years and has no history of parts problems. I like the machines a lot and will probably buy one when I find the right deal, but I would sure like to hear from someone who has "worked" the machine outside a dealer lot. Lots of nice features , even one the big boys don't have, and that is the pto selection. you can choose between live or clutch operated. This is nice for those of us used to the "old style" pto. Let me know if you get more info or see any prices in your area. also check out longs web site. It has been updated recently, and is much better. ....

I have only gotten brochures on the landtracs from a dealer 60 miles from me. I will eventually make it over to him to see the tractors in person but like you were saying Todd is that input from someone who has owned one and used the loader and other features would help in deciding what tractor to get. Thanks for your reply. ....

The current Long product lines and oems look like this:LongTrac (UTB, Romania)FarmTrac (Escorts, India)LandTrac (LG Cable & Machinery, Korea)This kind of multinational partnering probably makes good business and political sense these days, but does not bode well for long-term service and support, as such relationships change.You can learn quite a lot about the company and its products from their web site at http://www.longagri.com. ....

Paul, I have a Landtrac 360 @ $14,500.00 if my memory is correct i bought it back in July of this year,so far I have to say I am very pleased with it,I use it to bush hog and finish mowing. Prior to this I had a Kubota L2500DT and I would not even consider trading the Landtrac for the Kubota. I think the Landtrac 360with its 4-cyl.34hp. eng has plenty of power for a compact tractor. I can say that it is almost a pleasure to mow the grass now. lol, I use a six foot woods mower and together they do a fine job.If you want anymore info feel free to e-mail me and I will try to help. i also have been looking at this landtrac 300 - 360 tractor and have been only able to find good things being said about them ,
i will buy one soon here in charlottesville va , as soon as i see if the new tractors have made a change , the onlything that it does that i am not most pleased with is the controls for the loader are on the side and it does not allow you to use that side to enter or exit ,
the dealers keep pushing the kubota, but i am looking past that , i spoke to a guy in pa that has worked his now for almost a year and said he was still pleased with it !
ps thanks for posting your thoughts ,it has helped me finalize my choise , from a case & jd to this land trac . stew ....

I looked at the Long'Landtracks a number of years ago. The price did not seem that good and I was afraid of the mixed part and parts availability.
Kioti has set up its distribution direct to its dealers and is in control of all parts and engine etc. A DK-35 is about 13.5K it is 35 HP, 4x4, full syncro trans with shuttle shift. Mid mount PTO is standard, working light is standard. ....

Stew;
As with every tractor. The value of the tractor is somewhat associated with the dealer. The dealer in Indiana that I looked at was significantly higher than the Kioti dealer across the river in Kentucky, had little stock and few parts. I purchased neither but found a used JD tractor in Kentucky. ....

I own and have been working a Landtrac 550 dtc with a loader mostly for moving gravel and sand. The control of the bucket is very positive and traction is great even in creekbeds, if you do something stupid like drop a wheel in a ditch the creeper gear will save you a tow. Bushhogging with a 6' heavy duty hiway deck to clear 3 to 4" dia hardwood overgrowth is a snap. It has been a good reliable workhorse that takes all the abuse most of us who hire help see dished out to our tractors. ....

I own a 280 it's a 1999 model with over 1000hrs on it. It's needed a few repairs. The clutch was by far the worst. Parts take forever to get. I was without this tractor for 5 weeks for that repair. ....

I own a 410 landtrac with a 6 ft. 4n1 bucket on it. I use mine in my business which is clearing work such as trees, gradeing driveways,bushogging,drilling fence post,moving dirt & debri plus snow removal. I work my tractor hard which before buying it I explained all of this to my local dealer. So far they have cut my gear shift stick down due to the fact that you would hit it everytime I got on & off the tractor which caused the shift forks to bend. This happened on 3 seperate occasions which is when they came up with the solution of cutting my shifter down. Next I lost all gears in the transmission due to the fact they used brass sync. so they had to rebuild it completely. When it was dropped off after the rebuild I had no 4 wheel dr. They had left out 2 roll pins that control the shift to 4 wheel dr. I spoke to the mechanic who dropped it off and was told by him that they have more coming back in than they had going out & that the transmission was a weak link. I was recently contacted by my dealer for a recall on the wheel lug nuts which had to be upgraded due to lug nuts failing. I also had to send it back to the dealer due to the fact the loader arm mountig bolts were breaking off in the engine block which also turned out to be a recall item. I did my best to get rid of this tractor contacting the dealer,the manafucter & finally a lawyer who told me there was no lemon law on tractors.When this tractor is up & running it is a work horse.I spoke to a John Deere dealer here in Va. who told me they did not want the tractor on a trade in because they know it's history for failure.1/11/03 marked 1 yr. of ownership of this tractor which I purchased new off the lot! GOOD LUCK!! ....

f350mechanic,
There is no tractor lemon law as such. BUT there is the Federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. If you would still like to get rid of this tractor have your lawyer look in to this act. It has been used successfully on several lemon tractors and other equipment. ....

As someone mentioned, LandTracs are built by LG in Korea. you might also look at the two new models Tafe sells that are built by LG: 2800 CE and 3600 CE. ....
